Are the military trying to completely change Thailand to become more European/American like with enforcement of all these rules and regulations. I for one left the UK to get away from all that. How much is too much meddling.

I think there should be a crackdown on all these crackdowns if not I maybe start smoking crack..

So if I understand this right, after the next election the different National Council for Peace and Order parties will act both as government and opposition?

"Should anybody encounter illegal passenger vans or feel dissatisfied with their services, he or she is urged to call the hotline 1584 around the clock."
Who do you call if you are dissatisfied with the ones who's doing this minivan crack-down (the ones who wear tight brown tunics who after collecting 200 THB let them drive on)?

Wonder how the crack down on the sellers of unripe Durien going?
You must be a Monty Python fan
Please don't stop here and make us a list of all the crack-downs to come...
Yes I am a big fan of Monty Python, there was actually a seller of unripe Durian arrested in Chantaburi province a couple of weeks ago and they said that they were launching a crackdown on this vicious crime.

What I want to know is WHERE does this sense of false pride come from????
"We've never been occupied!" Oh, really? I guess the Burmese that conquered and OCCUPIED most of Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai for 200 years were just tourists? And the Japanese during WWII were just here for the scenery and Thai food they couldn't get back home?
"We've never lost a war!" Again, check with Burmese about that. And little Lao, whose total population is less than BKK, kicked your Thai butts during the Thai-Lao war.
And it was the French who FORCED you to concede parts of Thailand to Cambodia.
"We've never been colonized!" Well, Hong Kong, Singapore and Vietnam were, and you don't stack up well against any of them, so, so much for that "boast"
"We're Thai, we're superior!" To WHAT may I ask?
"It's a Thai thing. Foreigners wouldn't understand." You mean foreigners don't understand Thai stubborn stupidity? Yeah, you might be right on that one.
"We're going to be the hub of.....(fill in the blank)." The real world reality is that you are the hub of nothing.
Come on now, isn't Thailand a hub of human trafficking, elephant ivory, and military grade weapons?
Correct, add also shark fin soup hub of the world and hub of two tier pricing at nationl parks.

If you are traveling on visa-exempt or with a tourist visa, bring these documents for your extension:
1. Your onward flight ticket or eTicket out of Thailand within the 30 days
2. Minimum 10,000 Baht, or rather 20,000 Baht (not very clear guidelines, is it 10.000 or 20.000?)
3. Hotel booking confirmation - and if you have it, your itinerary If you stay in your own Condo or house will they reject you than or what? and who many of us makes a itenerary for the comming 30 days?
4. One photo, passport sized.
5. Application fee, 1,900 Baht
Will there be new regulations next week?

Army officers that are afraid of ghosts! I understand now why they lost the wars with Burma.

When you have to "lure" someone back your product could not be that good. Attract or invite sounds more honest.

Maybe departure numbers will be higher than arrival numbers after Aug 12?

That 98% are confident when the country is under martial law is just more propaganda.

More jobs for the boys. Anyone who thinks any of this will lead to democracy probably believes in the tooth fairy
And anyone who thinks that Thailand is ready for a democracy likely believes in Santa Claus.
I don't think that they are ready for a western style democratic system with all the corrupt, selfish Sino-Thai power grabbers around. When the average Thai guy understand that they been shafted big time by the Sino-Thai elite (including the Shin clan) the real problems will start for this country.
I don't think they are ready for a democracy, period.
Not quite yet.
When the average Thai understands that "what you said" that is when the real progress, not problems, will start kap
Yes it will be great progress if they understand that, but I fear it will be problems during the system change.

Ask the Immigration officer when you arrive next time, same time you can ask him why you have to pay 200 THB to visist a national park in Thailand when the locals pay only 40 THB.

"NACC unable to prevent former Prime Minister Yingluck from leaving the country"
A military junta with no power or am I missing something?
Yes, you are missing something. The article was referring to the NACC, not the NCPO.
Ohh, missed that, you are corect.

"The selection of the new police chief will be based on seniority, achievements, experiences and capability."
Are those qualities in respective order?
They must be looking for a foreigner as chief of Police

So many positive actions by the general.
But now I am disappointed
I was expecting justice to be done.
How many of the rich corrupted Thai-Chinese have spent any time in jail in Thailand? Thai justice is just travesty of justice.

They must be dreaming if they think that they will make more money from selling the "Elite" card than having 100.000’s foreigners living here that spends allot of money without really creating any serious problems for the country. (Prostitution, drugs, graft etc. is mostly run by the Thais themselves)
Only a fool would trust the Immigration department and the ones in power after what is happening right now with the other visa classes?
-
So Farangs out, Chinese in!
So it would seem. The visa forum is not a happy place right now. Still, let 'em get on with it, they know best.It will bite them in the arse in the long run, many of the ruling class here are of Chinese breed and don't like westerners. We should all remeber this move by them.
