  1. Thankyou all, especially khunla and khunbenq.  she's here to visit her Thai inlaws in Udon and Nong Khai.  I'll be helping her out taking turn driving.  She's used driving on the left lane and sitting on the right.  I didn't know thrrr are so many speed cameras nowadays.  I'll have to drive slow and hope no one tailgates us.

  2. Hello.  Any tips or what to look out for?  I have a friend renting a suv from Suvarnabhumi International Airport BKK and will be driving his family to Udon Thani.  It will be her first time driving in Thailand.  She'll start out around 7:30 am.  They'll need a lunch stop and a break.  Any place that's good for a lunch stop break?

  3. well, I showed the watch strap to a Thai watch repairman in UD Town and he said I literally got scammed!  He showed me the same exact straps that he sells for 140 baht!!!  that's without negotiating yet!

Depends on the quality of the strap. Try a brand like JLC who charge around 18,000 baht for a strap be top quality.

I'm an amateur novice (but quite stupid sometimes) ???? watch collector and I pretty much know about the price to quality ratio.  The one I got for 700 baht was just 1 strap/band (top and bottom, pair) with no brand name or where it's made.  I have a feeling most of the seller's straps are from neighbor countries, and made in China with fake "made in Italy".  Most of them are plastic leathers but the seller kept swearing they were "nung thair" real leather.  The seller kept saying "thowt mon bop"  lying is a sin. He was so good at the act and that if I'd walk away he'd come up with some intimidating scraps like what happended to me years ago in Udon watch store next to the Udon bus station, yes another warch store!!! ????????????

    Why did you buy it?

    Here are some alternatives:

Central Udon basement food court next to the money exchanger, it's the only one there.  It's a lesbian gentleman, very very pushy and slay.  It's one of those guys that don't want you to walk away emptied handed but will make you lose a fortune. ????

I wouldnt but I never buy from anyone other than the authorised outlets. Having said that 1400 baht is not a lot for a watch strap. Go to some of the high end watch manufacturers and you will pay several hundred USD for one. Having said that they are of very high quality.

    definitely I got scammed

  7. Would you pay 1,400 baht or more or half off for a pair of watch bands especially rubber no name silicone bands?  That's what I did today.  I think I got myself in a tourist scam trap.  Please vote!

You may want to consider a different brand system if not already vested in.   Nikon is struggling, future, a bit uncertain.

Our local BC still selling Nikon.  Current equip ?

Don't really notice since having Sony.  Which our local BC, strangely has very little of.   Seem to prefer Canon.

khon kean and udon no Nikons at bigcamera.

A very small amount of searching suggests it only works at an international airport.  Also bear in mind the purchases have to be made at participating stores.  I'd put money on NO being the answer.

I did online researches but it's confusing.  Aren't land border crossers considered tourists too?  There are thousands of tourists doing land and river borders, probably more than "flight tourists" coming into Thailand and they buy more tons of stuff than the flight tourists.  I guess I'll tell her to fly.  Like kids always say it's "not fair" ????

It is illegal in Thailand to sell unripe Durian. Has been for a number of years and carries a 3 year prison sentence and a fine of up to 60,000 Baht. .

Seriously?  I've never known that.  Should I go back to the seller and demand money back?  Or is he's gonna threaten me.  I feel the latter.  If coming from Udon, turn right at 3 way Thai Lao friendship bridge road, pass the convenient Mini Big C /Lotus shop, his durian stall is on the right.  It's a wife and husband stall in their late 20s or early 30's.

  11. Really!?  is this even true?  A Hikvision security DVR for security cameras sells for 2,290 baht without coupons yet vs a local Hikvision authorized dealer sells for over 3,100 baht same model.  I've never bought on Thailand online stores before.

  12. I visited Nong Khai and  bought 2 uncut monthong durians.   I wrapped them in newspapers and stored in airtight pots.  I was told by seller to cut between 3-4 days (he guaranteed me).  No odor after 4th day so I waited till 6th day, still no odor.  So I cut one of them open and to my surprise it was still unripened!!!  luckily I didn't cut out all the husk I just presliced the outside pulp sections and cut the top off.  On the 7th day the other was smelly and cut up and all ripened.  But it's the 12IMG_20220723_080932.thumb.jpg.a3dee65629f41b428d6d4d5876920c53.jpgth day and the unripened one still not ripened with no smell or of odor.  I paid close to 2,000 baht for these stinkers.  Did I get scammed?
