  1. In the recent Amphur election in our village my wife voted for the candidate who paid 700 baht into her account by bank transfer! I asked her how does she know that you will vote for her and she said “she doesn’t, she just trusts people she has paid to vote for her “ Given that the opposing candidate was probably doing the same thing I shudder to think how much money is being lost by the loser! That then leads to the question of what will the winner be gaining by being voted in?🤷‍♂️
  2. Not enough brown envelopes have changed hands it would appear!
  3. Many thanks for your reply. I will check that out 👍
  4. I am a complete technophobe when it comes to phones so please bear this in mind when replying. my phone is an iPhone SE second generation according to its settings so does it mean that I will have to upgrade my phone next February in order to continue using my SCB App which I find extremely helpful as I prefer to do scan payments rather than carry too much cash? Alternatively do I need to download something to this phone in order for it to access the App?
  5. Blimey the Aseannow cynics are out in force on this one! I haven’t ever read so many disparaging comments on a topic until now. I don’t blame anyone for trying to better their lives in a country that they love, isn’t that what those of us that live here are doing? When I see what 2 tier Starmer is doing to wreck the UK I would encourage anyone to get the hell out!
  6. The clock is ticking for this obnoxious nonce and I cannot wait until the day he gets locked up for his paedo activities. I have personal experience as to his arrogant self important privileged attitude relating to the late Queens jubilee in 2012 and would queue up to slam the cell door on his smug face.
  7. Clearly not highly enough in this case. Huge compensation claim soon to be on its way to GM police!
  8. Nong Khai is a backwater place compared to KK. KK has a huge range of restaurants for all tastes, incredible nightlife if that’s what you want but retains its traditional Thai heritage. I went on a 2 night trip to Nong Khai from KK a few months ago but came home after 1 as there was sod all to see there once you have had a gander at the Mekong!
  9. Is your friend a new visitor to Thailand if not surely he must be aware of the many scams that go on to relieve gullible farangs of their money? The girl can leave the bar at any time but as correctly stated above she would struggle to get employment in any bar in close proximity to the bar concerned in future. Unless your friend is living here permanently it is almost certain that the girl will be straight back to bar work as soon as he is heading back home only to return to Buriram a short while before his next visit. I know this from experience many years ago when despite being a regular visitor to Thailand I made the mistake of falling for a stunning bar girl of about the same age as your friends girlfriend and I asked her to give up bar work and go back to her village. I Was sending her money every month and making weekly phone calls and every time I visited her she met me with her family at Udon Thani airport. I found out after a year or so that she was going back to her bar as soon as I headed home and had 2 other farangs sponsoring her! You friend should realise that the age difference between him and this girl means that there is absolutely no future in this relationship and he should bale out asap. Feel free to show him this post or message me although I’m sure his response will be “this girl is different from the others”
  10. You did well. I failed the 50 question test 5 times because as a driver for over 50 years in England, 15 of which as a professional driver, I made the mistake of giving sensible answers based on Road knowledge and common sense. Some of the questions were nonsensical and had no relevance to actual driving
  11. Best invention since the wheel. Eliminates the dreaded skid mark syndrome and definitely more hygienic than dragging paper across your bum hole. Before I moved to Thailand I took a couple back to England and installed them in my toilets at home as although you can buy them there they are considerably more expensive. Bit of a shock to the system when you use them on a freezing cold winter morning but certainly a good wake up call!😂
  12. Doesn’t show much intelligence for playing for the scum gooners for a start. Then arrives at Stanstead airport with 4 suitcases full of puff. Give him 20 years for the gooner offence and £100 fine for the drug smuggling 😂
  13. Do you consider yourself some kind of Messiah sent to save the virtue of Thai girls who are clearly happy to have sponsors sending them money from different countries? The practice has been going on for many years here and I’m sure your concern, however noble is unnecessary
  14. Well I imagine that there will be many butch inmates of whatever jail she ends up in who may disagree with you!
  15. IMG_5252.mov A nice drive in the Issan countryside today!😂
  16. If you are still receiving salary from your employer, albeit half as you are on standby, my opinion is that you are still employed and accordingly still need the work permit. Your employer should be able to assist you on this by contacting the relevant Thai employment office
  17. Issanraider replied to bkk6060's topic in Pattaya
Sorry to contradict but the first McDonald’s to open in the Uk was in Woolwich South East London on 13th November 1974 unless of course that is the one you are referring to
  18. Thankfully we are a bit too rural for that to happen!😂
  19. I I recently cleared an overgrown area in front of our house in Khon Kaen and laid grey gravel on it which was delivered by a small pickup truck from a local sand and aggregate company but first laid a black pvc liner on the soil as if I hadn’t grass and weeds would eventually grow through the gravel. Was very happy with the result but not sure if the gravel I used would be suitable for you. The whole job cost about 4,000 baht plus a couple of days graft by myself!
  20. And they say romance is dead!😂
  21. Religion in all its different forms has been responsible for the death and suffering of millions of people throughout history and will continue to do so. What right does anyone have to think that because one person doesn’t believe in what he or she believes in they have the right to kill or harm them? No there is no god and religious beliefs have only been invented by those that are scared of the fact that when you are dead you are dead with no form of afterlife.
  22. I haven’t lived in Thailand for 12 years but have made regular visits during that period. I haven’t been looking for gold shops in the past but good to know that there are some although take the point that it may be better to buy elsewhere but wanted to give my wife a surprise present. Looking forward to my retirement in October in LOS before Mr Starmer announces his “painful “ budget! Thanks to everyone for their helpful replies here.
  23. Upon my return to Thailand in October I want to buy my wife a gift of either a bracelet or necklace. Could someone please tell me the current cost of a 1 baht item or a half baht alternative based on current gold prices. Also does anyone know if there is a gold shop at Bangkok airport?
  24. Never ceases to amaze me how a simple question on any online forum seems to generate vitriolic comments by certain people. Apologies to brianthainess for posting what you consider to be a pointless post but I merely asked the question due to the fact that I fully expect to die before my wife who is 15 years younger than me and presumed it would save her the bother of changing the registration document when I do expire. This point seems to have been appreciated by those who have posted more positive replies for which i thank you. My wife and I have been together for over 20 years and apart from a 23 year old daughter who has a fantastic job in Bangkok, my wife has no relatives who would be a priorityover me. The matter of insurance has been clarified by some and again I thank you for your replies on this point.
