  1. Very few foreigners come here and open a brothel.(in its dictionary definition), almost all the foreign run bars do not have pay for play on the premises.

Also the vast majority of pimping is done by Thais renting out their 'girlfriends'. That said it does not make it right. However where I come from rapists and child molesters are considered much lower life forms than pimps. I've not even considered where lawyers and real estate agents here are placed in the life form hierarchy.

Where you come from, do they also consider raping and child molesting as a job?

  2. And vehicles cost 10-30% more in Canada than in the USA. The different pricing systems of car manufacturers combined with a country's internal tax policies are the reason. Thailand relies on import duties and sales taxes because it has an inadequate income tax collection system.,

Thats their problem, i want cheap BMW etc.....

GK, hope you realize i am joking and am well aware of the taxes

  3. She added that Germany agreed to send technical experts to help Thailand improve the quality of products, in order to boost Thai exports to Europe.

Hmmm, can anyone translate or explain about technical experts in what field? from which company? to help which company?

Germany agreed? but is not it a private matter?

Germany has been very active in providing technical assistance for at least the past 40 years. Germany is a major participant in providing energy technology, particularly green energy solutions. Private sector technical assistance is co-ordinated through the Bundesministerium für wirtschaftliche Zusammenarbeit und Entwicklung (BMZ). For those that don't know, the BMZ is not a new type of BMW, but the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development . The BMZ had focused on small and medum enterprises and has helped many Thai businesses and startups.

I know that one has a stereotype of Germans because of Pattaya and Patong, but there are alot of classy, respectable Germans that visit Thailand and contribute to the economy.

and yet BMW, Benz, VW, Audi still cost almost double in Thailandtongue.png

  4. Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra yesterday said that her trip to Germany and France provided Thailand with a good opportunity to rebuild Europe

    cheesy.gifcheesy.gifcheesy.gifcheesy.gifcheesy.gifcheesy.gifcheesy.gifcheesy.gifcheesy.gifcheesy.gifcheesy.gif

    Clueless as usual.

If you are refering to anyone that accepts the Nation's statement as written, then yes I agree.

I believe what was said was something along the lines of rebuilding ties and a relationship.

Someone at the Nation left out the all important phrase, and of course there just had to be some people to latch onto it.

Well said, but i did not know there was a problem in relations between Europe and Thailand.

    In what field? This field...............post-9891-0-73288600-1342931220_thumb.jp

Buffalo looks happy, i wonder how much it got paid for the photo shoottongue.png

  6. The part which i find hard to believe is that the total amount changed was only 240 pounds

People in possession or in business of fake currency, do not exactly walk around changing small money, the whole aim is to change as much as possible.

So if according to OP they changed with no problem the first time, the typical move would be to change a large sum.

It is also NOT typical for the 2 to show up at the same place together, after already appearing alone previously.

It is a possibility that the couple was not even aware that the pounds were fake.

I had a customer once, who changed money in the exchange booth( around 10 000 baht), right across the road from hotel and was given 5000 baht in fake 500 baht notes

the 500 baht notes were a really bad fake, as the color was rubbing off just with fingers. We did alert the police, but they did not care, did not even go to see the exchange booth. No doubt owners of exchange booth, could tell the difference in fake thai baht

  7. I thought this was going to be a fred about some little thai child asking where his farang dad is...?

I tried to put "PAPPA" in the topic title but the stupid forum software alters the case automatically.

Maybe one of the myriad underemployed php developers here would like to have a go at the parsing code?

From what i gathered from Drummond site, PAPPA "directors" like to file libel suits for deformation, so i doubt you will find anything on Thai Visa

The whole thing has actually gone pretty quite.

I think there will be a new office shortly, perhaps under a new name or PAPPA could be moving to Philippines, as he has been making a number of trips there "looking for business opportunity's"

I also would not be surprised if he moved to Myanmar, as he is unknown there at all and there is lots of opportunity's there to develop.

Drummon has been pretty hard on PAPPA's case, making almost impossible to continue working here.

  8. Thailand and dogs.

    An awful combination.

a dog which has ever attacked a human being should be killed, it can never be trusted any more.

    Those dogs will attack again!

do you apply same logic to people also? i think you shouldthumbsup.gif

Now lets think about how many dogs are out there in Thailand and how many have attacked and killed kids? now compare that to people killing each other

Do you apply the same logic for dogs to people?

The dogs killed a kid, we don't don't let kid killers run free, but I guess you would.

Dangerous dogs need to be locked up or eliminated, just like dangerous people.

well i expect people to have more brains than the animal, and in this case clearly i am mistaken as kids parents have less brain than a monkey.

Dangerous dogs?, gee why do not you send your 2 year old into a lions pit and then blame the lions for attacking the kidrolleyes.gif

  9. The dogs should be put in a shelter and the parents should be prosecuted to the max for their negligence! Cant believe how some parents are here!!!

    absolutely spot on.

Not only they left a 2 year old kid unsupervised, the kid had already wondered off down the street. Could of been killed by a car, bike, fall down and whatever else

They did not even know where the kid was, until they heard some people screaming "soon to realize there was a problem"

Dogs could have attacked for a number of reasons, including kid trying to take their food or stepping on them or pulling tongue or ears or whatever else.

This is not accident but pure negligence on parents behalf and they should be charged, no different to giving the kid loaded gun to play with

  11. That must be very recent, because i drive past twice daily and it looked "open" the other week, though never seen any people going in or out

Perhaps an era of Mr Noyles is over or perhaps will have a new office opening up shortly in a different location.

Andrew Drummoyne is keeping a close eye, so i am sure if any developments take place, he will update his site and warn people

  12. The Pound was worth +/- 67 ThB in July 2007, ouch that must be hurting, anyone noticed?

In 2006 it was 82, feel the REAL pain now?tongue.png

Don't ever recall it being 82 in 2006??

i do, because i was here after my trip to UK and did change money in BKK and it was 82, unless of course i am mixing up years+1/-1 year

  13. Please note: even if you're vaccinated you need a few (but less) shots after being bitten. Vaccination doesn't make immune.

This would contradict that : The duration of immunity afforded to humans by a two injection vaccination course was found to be between two to three years.[11][12][13] Following administration of a booster dose (recommended at one year), one study found 97% of immuno-competent individuals demonstrate protective levels of neutralizing antibodies at 10 years

again outdated info. any physician will tell you that you need 2 shots after each bite as a booster

  14. Currently, pre-exposure immunization has been used on domesticated and normal non-human populations. In many jurisdictions, domestic dogs, cats, ferrets, and rabbits are required to be vaccinated.

Imrab is an example of a veterinary rabies vaccine containing the Pasteur strain of killed rabies virus. Several different types of Imrab exist, including Imrab, Imrab 3, and Imrab Large Animal. Imrab 3 has been approved for ferrets and, in some areas, pet skunks

I would think I had bigger problems than rabies with a pet skunk ! lol

The human diploid cell rabies vaccine (H.D.C.V.) was started in 1967. Human diploid cell rabies vaccines are made using the attenuated Pitman-Moore L503 strain of the virus. Human diploid cell rabies vaccines have been given to more than 1.5 million people as of 2006

I think this info you copied from some where is little outdated, rabies vaccines have changed dramatically in the past few years. Even the painful injections are not longer painful and injected into shoulder instead of stomach.

  15. Man, I wish we could get a final ruling on this......the Pattaya police seemed content with my USA license yesterday, I do know that for sure.

Your mileage may vary depending on what city/province you are in, how much bribe money the cops need to make their quota that day, whether they can read/understand English, etc......as usual, TIT!

going back to the states for 3 or 4 months on friday, when I come back I will see about getting a local license, but since I am not a resident here in any way, shape or form I don't know how that's even possible? Man, things are much easier on Koh Phangan - wear your helmet, never get pulled over; simple. I think Samui is the same way as well.....

Legally you must have an International License, however if they need to make some money, even that will not save you from being fined.

Sometime showing home license works, sometimes it does not. Sometimes telling officer that you coming from Temple gets you off the hook without even showing anything.

Point is, even doing everything legally does not always spare you from being fined. Sure you can fight it and go to court, but why even bother over 500 baht.

  16. It leads to allowing the private sector to decide if a restraunt is worthy of eating at instead of the gov. It leads to hotels who want customers not poisioning them rather than paying the gov to run around checking for poisions in hotels. What it leads to is giving more choice to everyone with less expense rather than high taxes and the gov telling everyone how to act while pertending to earn their pay. What it leads to is exactly what most Westerners wish they had , less gov and no property taxes.

    i dont agree...

in general tourists are considered "one-time-customers" by restaurants, and in case of guesthouses, if someone just falls sick, it even extends the stay... nobody in the first place thinks of a poisoned room... its blamed onto food, the new environment, ice cubes etc...

it leads to recklessnes towards people and environment... jmho...

I think you should write a letter to PM and express your opinions on the matter.
