According to my "step-sons"girlfriend he is quite well endowed for a Thai. Apparently, by her account, I am about an inch and a half shorter than him, but she seems ok with that.

yes sheep, did you put your face diaper on yet? did u make sure it's triple layer face diaper? all good then. all safe now. maybe one day on your dead bed you might learn to think for yourself and make your own decisions for at least 1 minute in your life.
Yes, Karen, isn't there a McDonald's line up you should be standing in........sans mask, of course.

The only traffic I see are goods and services trucks. Ther is no tourist traffic happening. My neighbor says July?
Have to remember there are two sides go a bridge. Laos is still very worried about the large number of covid cases in Thailand.

Free. Local market has a stall with kids going thru barber school and they have to do 2weeks practicum.
Best is I tell them up to you, so they get to practice specialty cuts. I have had several different styles this past year. Always fun.
Perfect for me as I have a full head of hair grown every 6 weeks or so.

Two things strike me as odd.
First they spent 100 baht on tubing and plastic wrap to protect the employees from covid, but nothing on the gold.
Second the sign that says;
"Expensive jewelry is not for sale"

Just a suggestion. I started by learning the Thai alphabet, writing it out. For me the main reason being I found it easier to learn words that, to me, sounded similar yet we're not.
My daughters Thai teacher showed me this. It helped understand how to pronounce the words by reading them.
Example in English are words like wood & would. Sound exactly the same but by learning how they are spelt helps understand how to use them.
Like the sound "mai" in Thai. Looking at how the word is spelt and the letters used helped me understand when to use high/low tone and long/short sound.
I am not fluent by any means in speaking. I do however assist my daughter with writing and reading, and she is fluent in both English and Thai speech.
I spend about an hour a day writing. Mostly the vowels as they are the tricky ones, for me anyways.
I use online translate apps like Google for the sounds. It is not great for lengthy translations, but type in a Thai letter and it works just fine.
Good luck....

There are a few people around us who do not have 5 baht in the bank to take advantage of the scheme!

Yeah, it was also reported that they left their brass (shell casings) and emptied both clips.
But maybe they wanted it to look local/unprofessional?
Not holding my breath on this one.
Somewhat related as it pertains to the some of the gangs.
There was a killing at the Vancouver airport about a year ago that took place at 3pm on a Sunday afternoon which happened to be on Mothers day. Airport was busy. Police gave Chase as the gunmen fled however they were fired upon on a busy intersection and gave up pursuit so as to not endanger bystanders.
As stated in the news article at the time...
The murder "was targeted and carried out in broad daylight, with absolutely no regard for public safety", Richmond Chief Supt Will Ng said.
"This generation of gangsters is taking things to another level," he added. "They will stop at nothing to target rivals, even if it's an international airport in broad daylight on Mother's Day and putting everyone at risk, including shooting at a police officer."
The comment about making it look unprofessional etc..is a bit CSI'ish. Perhaps in a Liam Neason movie do the bad guys pick up the shell casings, wiping them free of finger prints, filing Down the registration numbers on the guns...

there is nothing remotely smart about any of this , these two clowns walked around in identicle hoodies likely bought together in a local store, suddenly they have vanished without a trace, I call this whole thing total B S
This Ars hol owed money or was involved in local crime and overstepped - he p####ed someone off ...................the cops know exactly what went on here ............ guess why
nothing more to see here
PS and it definately involved drugs and huge money.............now who would be involved in that I wonder
The victim had significant ties to the gang scene in Vancouver, Canada. It is a culture that has long memories, and patience.

How old is she?
Sounds unusual. Hope she gets well soon.
She is 8. There were about 15 kids in the same group, and all had similar symptoms.
It passed rather quickly. But was worrisome there for a few days.
I am still feeling yucky! No fever, but headache, sore throat, achy, no sleep, no energy. No other health problems.

Well, just a quick update on our story.
After fighting nearly 2 years avoiding this Damn thing, we got sick.
A friend my daughter plays with caught it and passed it on. It appears the mother of this child protected her daughter by keeping her out of school for the past two months. It was one reason we let our daughter play with her. However it appears she also looks after two other children that she sent to school on the bus each day for the past two months. Seems the whole house came down with covid last Friday or Saturday, but did not believe it serious enough to let my wife and I know until tuesday.
Anyway.
Me - double vaccinated Pfizer
Wife - double sinovac, Pfizer booster
Daughter - was scheduled for vaccine this week
Wife - minor symptoms, nothing serious
Me - lethargic, flu like symptoms, generally yucky
Daughter - fever, body aches, dry cough. She has been in constant pain for 2 days now. Severe back pain. Thought it might be dengue at first, but she has been diagnosed with covid.
My daughter has had the flu before. Three years ago was hospitalized as a result. This is not the Flu.
Take care folks. Those with kids, I do hope you never experience this.

I bought a covid policy thru southeast last year. Brother-in-law sold it via his boss. They thought it would be a get rich quick scheme as at the time there were not a lot, if any, claims.
Just 2 minutes ago the bil delivered his ice and informed my wife I would not be covered under the plan however I could get a refund on my policy. Paid about 1,500bht for it, if I recall correctly.

Thinking long and hard on this. Have a daughter, 8 yrs old, and still deciding. Have always said once the needle goes in, no going back.
She's had all her childhood shots. There is just something in the back of my head saying no.
I have had two shots, pfizer, so has the wife. Kid has had the flu every year (even with vaccine), and although not pleasant, her symptoms were manageable. Tylenol for fever, lots of liquids, rest, etc. We eat well. Lots of fruits and veg, in moderate amounts, no pop, no chips or sweets (got lucky as my kid loves cold water and fruit over snack foods).
Only catch, might return back to Canada this Spring and currently need to be vaccinated.
Couple of more sleepless nights to decide.

Whoopi, they aint gonna be rich and can not buy much. What kind of handout is this when folks need more to survive. That will give them 40 baht a day for food and misc....guess 1 meal a day works.
1,200baht total over 90 days co pay 50/50. Would work out to about 26 baht a day. However one has to have money in their bank account first, before the co-pay is applied.

Sorry to hear the news. Just on a side note, I would make sure you have your hands on your child's paperwork (originals, not copies). Give copies to the wife.
Birth certificate
Passport
ID Card
School document's
Dentist /Medical records
Etc.
I keep control of all of these and can access quickly. One never knows. I know in my situation it would be a cold day in Hell my daughter would stay with her mother.
However possible during this trying time, try and keep custody (physical) of your child. If you end up moving out etc, take them with you. I have given up a few good jobs to be with my child.
Good luck, and stay calm.

My daughter has been educated in both Canada and Thailand. Two years in Canada (grades 1 & 2), two years in Thailand (k3, grade 3), and has enjoyed both systems.
To those that talk about not passing students who fail a grade here in Thailand would help, the same issue happens in Canada. In my opinion holding students back is not a viable option.
I also disagree with the notion students should be able to question how teachers, teach. That should be a coordinated effort between the school, teachers, parents, and children. Based on the curriculum as decided upon by governing bodies.
The biggest challenge, again in my opinion, is keeping kids engaged in the learning process. In Canada parents were certainly more involved in the child's education. I see little involvement of parents here. Parents seem to be either working, split families, children living with grandparents, or with older siblings.
In speaking with, and reading about, other parents and the difficulty they have had during this pandemic to keep their children entertained being a struggle. This leads me to believe there was not a lot of parental influence before the pandemic. Just leaving the school system, by itself, to educate your child I feel is the leading cause of many of the issues going on today.
How to get parents, or guardians, more engaged in the process?!
Obviously the system here is broken. The real unfortunate part is the huge amount of money that is being spent on education,
yet it is the students who are least benefiting from it.
Just on another note about the quality of teachers. It is possible we have been very lucky, but my daughter has in her short stint so far as a student had only one teacher that has been an issue. Of the 20 or so others she has nothing but great things to say. From her K3 teacher Ms. Poi, to grade one Mrs. S, and her grade three Thai teachers whom have all been wonderful so far. Even with early struggles of online learning, she had teachers here drop off home work, provided additional learning material, and even have her assist in her English class with other students.
She attends a Catholic school that follows the government education system. It is not a private school. Cost, about 6,000BHT per term. Including lunch. In Canada, government school, fees about $450 per year. No lunch provided.

How does all this freight between thailand and Kunming travel now?
Come to Nong Khai on a Sunday night, and wait to see what happens on Monday morning. Absolute nightmare most days, Mondays! Sheesh.
By vehicle. Hundreds and hundreds of trucks. Many stop in Laos, others continue to various points in Laos, and the Chinese border town of Mohan. A time consuming journey with, at times, difficult road conditions.
Unfortunately Thailand has had nearly 7 years to prepare gof this. Issues with rail tracks, the bridge being too small etc. A missed opportunity in my opinion. Tourism and freight. Up to 3 trains daily. Read the trains can carry upwards of 1,200 passengers, twice a day, plus at least one cargo dedicated only service.
Probably take 5 years to get the Thai side operational. Or more.
