  1. "However, he conceded that the NBTC could not have complete authority over the case because both these companies had been set up before the television watchdog was created."

I came to Thailand well before any of today's politicians where on power, there where different rules and laws in this country. So, according to Mr. Suthichai philosophy, today's government should not have complete authority to impose their new immigration law or whatever new law is in force on me, since I got to the LOS well before any of this laws where written. I'm exempt .....

Well, suppose it's just wishful thinking

  2. Sorry, but do we know that the lady was killed, I cannot see it in the report.

you are correct it only says she was gunned down not the outcome, I have lived in thailand for only two weeks and am shocked at the number and variety of attacks on people, shootings, stabbings, muggings you name it have read about it.

Coming from the second most dangerous country in the world, Thailand is rather safe ranked at number 16.

What do you define as "Dangerous" and what do you define as "Safe"?

There is loads of criminal statistics and one can more or less bend it as one pleases but If you compare homicide with fire arms, according to Nationmaster.com, Thailand is the most dangerous country in the world, followed by South Africa.

But no worries, at least here in Thailand you get shot with a smile.

  3. Margaret Ann Bulkley/James Barry supposedly lived her life long as a man in order to pursue her career. Jerry Bailey's sex change didn;t stop him/her from her political ambitions. I'm sure, if this "Third Sex" person really, really wanted to study, there would have been easier ways to achieve that then going to the media and make a big fuss.

  4. I have absolutely no problems with people's sexuality and it's absolute stupid that some good people loose their jobs or careers because of their inclination. It's no one's business what people do in private if they don't harm anyone. Never mind if homosexual, lesbians, trans sexual, transvestites or whatever.

I have no problem if the Pope is gay, Clinton getting a blowjob or MP's looking at porn but that are things that should stay in private and not in public.

If a hippie wants to work in a bank, he will need to dress and behave accordingly. A transvestite Pilot will most likely not get a job if he turns up in high heels for his job interview. So if a katoi wants a male job, dress and behave accordingly and I'm pretty sure, he stands a chance to get the job. Otherwise, he should apply for a job at CP-Air or a bar in Pattaya if he/she/it has to demonstrate their inclination in public.

  5. Gotta love Thailand

If you do not get your way - protest

If you do not get your way - Sue them

If you do not get your way - Flee the country

If you do not get your way - Give people money so you can get your way

If you do not get your way - Burn down Bangkok

Now now, let's not forget all the evil that the other side made.

If you do not get your way - have a bloodless coup.

If you do not get your way - occupy an airport and clean up after the mess

If you do not get your way - throw some paper

But you also forgot about the Red's

If you do not get your way - throw feces and contaminated blood around

  6. Whats the whole issue with the prime minister's lack of English skills?

There are many leaders who do not speak English as well as the Thai Prime Minister- As far as I am aware Yingluck's English is far better than people like Angela Merkl's, Sarkozy's, Medvedev or Putin's, Bush and Brown and I am sure some of the other Asian leaders.

And it's undoubtedly better than the Thai language skills of many people who have decided to reside here long term and who moan about things said by Thai government officials, when in all probability what they said was mangled beyond recognition by the newspaper.

    [

They also have a law that might be the law in the LOS. "A person may not be seen in public without a smile on their face."

It's either "Persons may not ...on their faces " or it's " A person ... without a smile on his/her face." -- Since we're coming down on the PM's English skills.

Before you correct other people, you should check your own grammar and spelling. Maybe an optician to check your vision would be helpful too as I never said what you put in quotes. You're quoting the wrong person. One should never change a quote and definitely not attribute it to the wrong person.

  7. "I understand that it is difficult to ask everybody to forget the past but I am asking everyone to offer forgiveness in order to reduce conflict. If we do not begin with forgiveness, how can we move forward? The reconciliation process is not instantaneous; similar to the process of amending the constitution, it will take several months of deliberation in the parliament," said the premier.

Of course she would say forGIVEness. For Give a lot of billions back to the family.

I say, let's forget about the past. Forget about Thaksin, forget the money that got confiscated from the Shinawatra's, forget about reconciliation and let's move forwards .

  8. Prejudice is everywhere. Some people would even seriously suggest that 65% of crime in Thailand is committed by westerners. I guess if 65% of the prison population is Western, that could be some evidence. Not sure if that is true, tho.

TOP 10 OF FOREIGN NATIONALS IN THAI PRISONS (2009)

    1. Myanmar (3,787)

    2. Lao (1,994)

    3. Cambodia (1,445)

    4. Malaysia (325)

    5. China (252)

    6. Singapore (115)

    7. Nigeria (94)

    8. Taiwan (91)

    9. Vietnam (85)

    10. Ghana (65)

    1st November 2011: Prison Population – 252,044 (men 215,920 and women 35,124).

According to the International Center for Prison Studies and data from the National Prison Administration, there where 231'066 detainees in Thai prisons (including pre-trial detainees / remand detainees) on the 01.03.2012.

In mid 2010 the number was 200280 detainees. Of them, 5.7% were foreigners.

Take away those top ten foreign nationals you mention, (8263, which are either Asian or Africans), detainees from the rest of the world represent just about 1.6% off all detainees in Thai prisons.

Now I wonder, how many of those 3153 (Brits, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Swiss, Swedish, Finns, Dutch, N. & S. Americans, Canadians,Australians, Russians, Japanese, bla, bla, bla, bla ........... - well, the rest of the worlds detainees in Thailand) are detained because of overstay or small offences?

Next would be to find out, how many of those are tourists or Ky Nok's?

For sure, crimes committed by foreigners in Thailand must be just a fraction of the crimes committed to foreigners whilst in Thailand and if all the known jet-ski, motor-bike, tuck-tuck, taxi driver scamers would be arrested, prison over population would rose from 194% to - well, a lot more ;-) and the percentage of foreign detainees would look a lot more favourable too

  9. The way most Thai people speaks never seize to amaze me,they speak as if Thais are not in foreign countries committing different crimes, does that make all Thai bad? NO? In this 21st century,so long as your country has Embassy in a country means they want citizens of that country to come to their country,if not your country will not have Embassy in that country that gives them VISA.

Nigerians and Africans are NOT commiting the kind of Crimes been commited in our Country by Farangs, europeans, american, australians,Russians, some africans may commit 2% of crime, but westerners are commiting 65% of crimes in our Beloved Thailand yet we intend to over look them, because we think they are helping our economy, even when a 75 year old man is having sex with our Thai daughter who is 18,we accept this as normal.

I went to Russia, i met so many Thai Prostitutes i was ashamed to identify myself as Thai Citizen, yet Russians do not call all Thais prostitutes, the same goes to any nation, there are bad and good people in all countries, let us use our intelligent when speaking, and not Generalise a country as BAD due to some few who did wrong.

Most of us think Nigeria is a poor nation, not knowing they are Richer than Thailand in everywhere, you may then ask why are they here, they answer is why are Americans, and europeans Here??? Who are also better than Us???

First of all, what a lot of rubbish!!!

The reason to have embassies in other countries, is not because they want citizens of that country but more to have the country represented abroad, to promote and deal with political and economical interests and issues. Dealing with immigration, new passports or all the other issues we foreigners have, is the smallest part of the work embassies or consulates do. Many countries use private PR companies to deal with tourist and expat issues.

Then, I really wonder, where did you get that figure of 65% of crimes being committed by foreigners from? Yingluck?

Furthermore, where did you get your fact from, that Nigeria is richer then Thailand? Although they have a lot more oil reserves then Thailand, the GDP is about twice as high and the GDP per Capita is about 6 times higher in Thailand then Nigeria. The only thing Nigeria is higher then Thailand is Software Piracy (5% more than Thailand), Murder (approx 95% more than Thailand) and unpaid diplomatic parking fines (139% more than Thailand).

So, a lot of unsubstantiated ranting and dealing in a very casual way with the truth. Get your facts right, otherwise you sound just like Thai politicians - uneducated, unbelievable and a joke.
