  1. Just abolish education in Thailand. Most Thais don't know what to do with this stuff called education anyway and with the ideology of tomorrow never comes, yesterday is long gone and today we eat noodle soup, it's a waste of money anyway. Better no education then miss-education or education that keeps the majority of people stupid.

    miss-education?

Ohh sorry my bad education ;-) only one S of course :-)

  2. To me a fake is something not up to the standards of the original, otherwise I call it a copy, illegal or otherwise. For example if a generic drug does the same job and is the same quality as a licensed drug it is a copy not a fake.

Now I have been offered fake Rolexes in Instanbul, Beijing, Hong Kong, Manila, KL, even little Kuchin. Are they fakes or are they copies, I have never bought one as I prefer my cheap timex watches but I have often wondered.

So I am asking, how good are these street corner Rolex watches, are they fakes or are they copies?

    Suppose it depends ....

If you pay original price for something that looks like the original but does nothing like the original, then it's a fake and you've been cheated , mostlikely without your knowlege.

If it's same same but different at a fraction of the price of the original, then it's an original copy and mostlikely, not even a bad deal.

If it looks like the original, nearly as expensive as the original but doesn't do anything at all, then it's an original Toy.

  3. Had my Business Visa refused the second time in Vientiane. First time as I didn't have my Por Por 50 (which I never needed before) but I got a doubble entry Tourist Visa. Now just got back from Vientiane (yes, I had my Por Por 50) and had my Non B refused again. This time they wanted a letter from the labour office. Something I didn't need before either. As for the Tourist Visa, I this time I only got 60 days. I was told I had too many Thai stamps (73 entry/exit stamps, 3 for overstay and 11 Visa stamps) in my Passport all ready. Well, what does the Thai Embassy expect if we have to make a visa run every 90 (or 60) days. The advice of the Embassy was, go back to Euroe, apply for a new passport (I still have 12 pages and 4 years left on my passport) and get your business visa in Europe.

I've been in Thailand since 1978 (on and off) and since 1999, I have my own company and investments in a couple of local Thai businesses. I thought, Yingluck said not that long ago, our investments are safe in Thailand. If people with business here in Thailand start having problems applying for their visas, how safe are our investments?

  4. Well, Mr. Plodprasob didn't realy say it was 100% safe,

".... COULD be close to nil"

    ".... LIKELY safe from floods"

and I'm sure, he's perfectly right - considring it could likely,

safely flood tomorrow, later or when an other party is in power

but not during the memory span of average Thai politician.

Tomorrow never comes, yesterday is long forgoten and today,

today we eat noodle soup licklips.gif

  5. One day your sending 300 on safari...... the next day you are stamping out corruption. stupid kids playing games with Thai money that grows n trees.

Thai money isn't growing on trees as every Thai kid knows, it grows in the pockets of farang for Thais to collect ;-)

  6. "But there will be no serious impacts, besides the moon shining brighter."

Those of us on Koh Phangan may disagree by the time this weekend is over. rolleyes.gif

Do the math the moon will only be 376 kilometers closer than it was last year. In other words look at what happened last year and prepare for more of the same.

The Nation must be hurting for news. I know it is hurting for qualified journalists.

    @ HELLODOLLY - Do the maths? ;-) ;-) Good one! :-)

It's actually 376 Km further away, so it would have a lesser impact this year then last year.

Although, as the tides not only depend on the moon but on the planets, the dept of water, salt content and an other whole bunch of criterions, it might either be worse, same or even less impact. I don't really care, my home is high enough not to worry.

And should anyone go to the Fullmoon party in Koh Phangan, don't worry either, not so many people this month. So, no impact on sea level, as there are less people pissing in to the see ....

I worry more about a tsunami coming over from the Andaman Sea by Tuk-Tuk as we are "Miracle Amazing Thailand"

  7. Considering that there are 6 Top Class Luxury Resorts in Thong Nai Pan, I'm not surprised that they would put themselves together and build an airfield for private jets and small airlines. A partnership with Lomprayah and Solarair already exists so a partnership between Panviman, Santhiya, Anantara and Kanairways (sounds like Conair) is quite possible. I heard that a shorter road from Ban Madauwan to the Than Sadet roundabout is in planning too.
