It is a bit more complicated than that. 400k for 2 months to get the marriage extension.....then that money is free to do what I want with. In 2027 I will use the income method. My point was that by NOT transferring 800k from the UK I can earn 30k Baht equivalent (28,800 actually).

My bad...it is only 28,800 Baht equivalent. My maths is sound.....800k not transferred from the UK and out into my cash ISA Simple.

Immigration certainly think so - and they can approve retirement extensions locally. Personally, I am not prepared to lose circa THB 30k in lost interest for the sake of a slight inconvenience.

The package you use could also be damaged during the delivery process and be compromised or end up in the possession of a 3rd party which could lead to identity theft. To confirm the notes on the declaration form that you need to read before signing; When the application form is completed and signed by yourself, if you are not resident at the address you provide, you are making a false statement for which you could be prosecuted and a potential prison sentence. If the passport is lost in transit or has a delivery issue you will need to attend in person to collect it. As you possibly will not have any other travel documents to return to the UK it would leave you in a difficult position. Taking the above into account and you state that the action you are suggesting will save time and money, the repercussions of being caught are severe. I don't want to hijack this thread but as the correct answer has been provided, I would just like to run my situation past the group... I have an extension based on retirement which expires in June. My travels mean that I won't be here. I married in December. My plan is to let the current approval expire and apply for a Non-Imm 'O' single entry visa, based on marriage, for my return in July. I have 400k in Kasikorn and I have been routinely transferring 40k p.m. on the 1st of each month since the end of last year (in anticipation of using the income method in 2027)....the financial requirements for my application will be met. I am also moving provinces from Chonburi to Buriram, although I don't intend to arrange the new TM30 until my return, - unless anyone can see a good reason to do so before I depart Thailand at the start of May. When I return mid-July I would propose to visit one of the Buriram Immigration offices to submit the TM30, re-introduce myself and ask when they want me to apply for the 12 month marriage extension. Have I missed anything obvious, or is there a flaw in my plan?
