Not just Thailand has this problem, a lot of EU for the same reason. Perhaps introducing stricter laws for marriage would be applicable.

On a foreigner perspective, I'm not entirely sure what advantage marriage brings in Thailand, since it seems that you have no real rights when you marry a Thai citizen, other than the ability to apply for a marriage visa (non-o). In EU, partners are entitled, and enjoy the same community rights across the board, once they are acknowledged by the authorities as being the legal partner, as stated in the EU directive. It's a shame that foreigners in Thailand are not given the same reciprocal rights as their Thai counterparts. Perhaps one day Thailand will change this view.

The Advantage of being married to a Thai

    you get a work permit

100% incorrect - not even nearly close.

Some labour offices relax the restrictions on capital from 2 down to 1 million, and reduce the number of employees to 2, but note I said some offices. Even then, if they do it for some, it may not apply to you...

    Benefits of Thai Marriage Visa

Siam Legal International offers service to process Marriage Visa to Thailand for UK citizens. This visa provides the following:

    • Multiple-entry travel to Thailand.
    • Valid for use for a period of 1 calendar year.
    • The visa is renewable every year and can be renewed inside Thailand (applicant must meet the requirements for the visa renewal).
    • Ability to apply for a work permit in Thailand.
    • Permit to open bank (savings) account in Thailand.
    • Ability to apply for Permanent Residency after renewals.

    100% incorrect-not even nearly close?

  3. My view is the PM loves his country and is not happy about it's international reputation,

So what can he do about it?

Maybe close all the bars and nightclubs in the affected areas. maybe to much fall out

He has enough trouble with the beach clean up and closing all the bars and nightclubs would have a massive knock on effect

He would be seen as being too heavy handed, so maybe the only other way is to single out the tourists that frequent these areas,

Still has the same effect but slowly the businesses would go out of business due to lack of customers

As commendable as animal welfare is.....

I would have thought that with only twelve months before an election

That there must be many more pressing matters that the government need to look at

What has elections got to do with animal cruelty?? and , yes there are OTHER matters. This is urgently needed, Don't you care for animals ??

Your first few words seem to think so THEN ????

I thought my comment was clear

If there is no adequate law at present to cover animal cruelty then it has been an urgent need for decades

    IMO

The government time would be better spent debating topics like:

How do we avoid having corrupt politicians?

How do we ensure fair elections?

What changes are needed to the constitution?

How do we prevent politicians changing laws to suit themselves?

How do we make the populace better educated?

There must be many more relevant issues ,

The animal welfare bill could be put into a bucket list for the next government to consider.

    RIP lady

May your next time around be happier

If you die when you are angry you are guaranteed a bad start in the next life

I think topping yourself is bad karma too

I'm not Buddhist but I think maybe she was, but whatever/if the future holds for her I still wish for the best for her

Apparently she argued with her Canadian boyfriend who was in Korea before she did this

Makes me think How careful we should be with the hearts of these ladies

  6. Each one of those bags is a potential death that if successful he would have been party to. I hate anyone who deals, smuggles and uses drugs. Not one of them has any value to the world's population. Find them and eliminate them from the planet.

    Didn't Mr T try this?

His problem was he couldn't be bothered with going through the courts first

Thoughtfully saving those tax dollars (baht)
