I haven't tried AIS, but use True and DTAC as a back up plan for internet. I find I always end up using DTAC as it seems to offer the highest unlimited speed of 10mbps. True gets close but is a pita trying to set up for speeds higher than 6mbps unlimited. I find only 10mbps works for me with live IPTV and other high bandwidth apps. 4mbps plans are cheap but only of use for web surfing and emails afaik.

That probably comes down to signal strength.   You probably have a DTAC tower closest to you.  I have gotten 60Mb/s up and down with AIS.  But only when the signal is strong enough.  That will be the case for all the providers.  It also depends how busy the tower you are using is and how much capacity it has.  I know with AIS I usually can only get up to about 20Mb/s in my area when I go outside. However, I can go to the mall, which I am assuming is a very busy cell site with higher capacity, and get much higher speeds.

Download the app called Network Cell Info Lite.  You will need a signal strength of better than around -90db to get the higher speeds.  I get -100db for AIS in my room and that is good enough for the 4Mb/s to 6Mb/s plans but not much more than that.  I notice that to get to the 60Mb/s speeds I need a signal strength of around -75db which is very hard to get indoors. At the mall I get really good signal strength, probably because they have repeaters.

  2. Nothing to compare it to but AIS is great. Very reasonable prices and probably the best coverage.  I use the 4Mb/s unlimited data plan which is adequate for most things.  They have daily, weekly, monthly, and 6 month plans.

They also have limited data unlimited speed but I think the unlimited data, limited speed plans are a better deal for most things.  If your signal is not strong enough you will not get the higher speed anyways.

I try to be the opposite of you, think I'm doing a good job so far.

Your are doing a good job of spreading bad information.  Like how the food court is going to be this amazing thing .  Unlike every other food court, including the one in T21 Bkk, before the mall even opens.  Or all the other things you are saying are going to be amazing before it even opens.

Or like how there is a 2 for 1 sale at foodland which looks like the same 2 for 1 they normally have at the other foodlands.

You STILL have not disclosed what your financial interest is.  There is obviously some alterior motive beyond just being some sort of mall fanboy.

Oh no , be prepared for a long queue on Friday.

Women will start fighting over this, and a few men

    H&M

First customer get a 10 000 baht voucher

    2-5 5000 baht voucher

    6-255 : 500 baht voucher

Why are you cheerleading every little thing?  255 will be reached in the first 15 minutes.   There will be a line up for the opening no matter what.  After it opens there will be no lineup.  Why be so dramatic about it?

Also, Foodland has those 2 for 1 things all the time.  This is nothing new.

  5. They have the planes lit up now. The interior light changes between 3 or 4 different colors in both planes at the same time..lol.  You can get a pretty good look inside at night with all the lights on.  Looks pretty tacky and gimicky if you ask me.  They really went all out to make it look like an airport terminal with each floor a different city theme.  Paris, San Francisco etc.  It's like a theme park or something.  I guess the chinese tourists will eat it up and people who think Ripleys Believe it or Not is totally awesome.  It may be mildly interesting the first time you go but after that it's just another mall.

Just something on this.  99% of the drinkers in bars as usual are Falang.  I do not care but this is the impression the government, tourists and locals get about Falang.  Sit in some bar and drink your life away.

    4

That is my impression of many Farangs in Pattaya.  So I tend to agree with the Thais on that.

Those guys I see sitting in a bar at 9 am seem to think they are living the (alcoholics) dream or something.

There are better fresh noodles at other places such as Grandma's Kitchen in South Pattaya.

Where is that Gradma's kitchen?  I googled it and the only place that came up was some place up on Pratumnak hill soi 4.  There is also "The Kitchen" on 2nd road near Soi 10.  Do they make their own noodles in house from scratch?  I would love to find a place that did that.

People are confused because they can use their Tops discount card (1 card) at all Tops supermarkets and Central food hall. They even seem to offer the same products at the same prices , so only difference is in the name.

I can get a lot of stuff at Central that I can't get at Tops.  Everything about the store is different including prices.  So no, it is not just a different name.  Stop spreading misinformation.

The router they currently supply, Huawei HG 8247H, with the 1 Gbps service is limited on the air (WiFi) interface to 300 Mbps. And this router can support 1 Gbps up and down on the GPON uplink.

I've seen NPERF results of ~ 945/115 on the True Online 1 Gbps service offer, although I'm not certain the router can really handle variable length packets (layer 3) is real-world applications, i.e. PPS and sessions?

The bundles would be more interesting with 4K UHD programming. But 1,599 is certainly an eye-catcher. Thanks.

I don't think current WiFi standards are capable of 1Gbps.  I think 802.11ac is theoretically capable of 1.3Gbps (166MBps)  but the most you will ever get is about 750Mbps

I used to live in Patts at the top of khao Talo, and the water supply was definately unhealthy all year round, irrespectivwe of rainfall.

When the faucet was turned on, and even left running for several minutes, the water was not cvlearr, and resembled a weak green tea in colour.

When the large underground storage tank ( 2000 L ) had a problem, and the cover was removed OMG ! the sides of the tank had a thick slimy deposit similar to Oil all over the sides.

Disgusting, and not even healthy for a shower IMO

I'm not talking about the quality of the water but the lack of it when there is no rain for a long time during dry season.  If the water was not clear that may be a problem with the tank in that location.  The water doesn't look dirty when I turn on the tap at home and when I got to various public restrooms around town.  I wouldn't drink it though and always brush my teeth with bottled water.

I live in Pattaya and travel around the area visiting places of interest, temples, gardens, Monuments etc  I travel round Thailand also. I do go to bars and indulge in P4P in Pattaya. The day I anticipate a mall opening with excitement is the day I curl up and die. Its borderline autistic.

????  Yea that's exactly what long term residents do.   They spend their days going to temples and monuments.  Yup you betcha ???? .

Can't you come up with better bullshit than that?  Did you seriously think anyone was going to buy that?:burp:

Checking prices in the future at the Centrepoint Hotel the least expensive room is about 4500 b plus 17 %.

    It does include breakfast. ????

Looks extremely nice and will I bet will be the most exclusive hotel in the city.

On the roof of T21 there is a spectacular water park.  Plus there is a bar and restaurant up there looks like a nice spot for a drink and evening view.  I am not sure the water park is for the hotel guests only or for public use for a fee.  Looks like a great place for families with kids.

You sound like you are reading off a promotion brochure or something.  Only 4500baht?  What a deal!

As someone else mentioned, apparently you are not aware of the other "exclusive" hotels in town.  So not necessarily the most exclusive.  Just the newest shiny object.  I would have to see the water park to know what that is all about.  It looks like a pretty big area up there.

T21 today , Foodland sign is up , so the good news is they will stay open 24 hours and hopefully that also includes the restaurant.

There is already a 24 hour Foodland in Pattaya.  Not sure but maybe even both are 24 hours.  So that is nothing to get excited about.  The fact it's just another Foodland instead of the unique whole foods type grocery store like they have in Bkk is one of the major disappointments about this mall.

  14. That dim sum place at the A1 hotel is failing. Always empty when I go by.  It probably won't be around much longer.  Looking at the prices and menus it doesn't look like anything to get excited about to me.

That chinese restaurant across from Soi 6 is failing as well.  Walked by there at 6:30 pm the other day and nobody there.  The guys who work there were sleeping on the tables.  Not surprised as the main dish, which is the steamed dumplings, are not very good imo.  Seems two or three people here like the wonton in peanut sauce dish but it's not even mentioned on the menu.  You just have to know what the picture looks like.  That's not a recipe for a successful restaurant if you just have one good dish that is not even properly labeled on the menu.

People think these malls are opened only for foreigners (expats and tourists), but it's the Thai population that keeps them afloat. It's a guarantee that a lot of the money the sexpats contribute to the economy for services rendered ends up being spent in T21. Good luck finding a girl that doesn't like big flashy shopping malls and genuine merchandise. If she says she isn't, she's lying.

That is definitely true in Bkk but I am not so sure in Pattaya.  I would say it's maybe 50/50 tourists and Thais at Central.  Harbor is almost all Thais but not very many of anyone at that mall.

Central mall appears to be doing really really well.  I remember reading some story a couple years ago that said that was the Central groups busiest mall, even compared to Bkk. It is probably a lot busier now than it was a couple years ago.  T21 will take some of that traffic away but Central still has that decent department and grocery store with things you can't find anywhere else.  I don't shop at the department store very often but the grocery store has competitive prices on a lot of things.
