  1. I don't think the U S visa department cares a hoot about you.

They are more concerned with your girlfriend. Has she got property here or an important job to make her come back. I had heard a rumor that 200,000 baht in the bank account for a considerable amount of time would do it. But that was just a rumor.

If she applies for a visa she will have to go in for an interview and you will not be allowed in to it. On the plus side it is easier than Canada and I believe the visa is good for up to ten years. Not sure how long she would be allowed to stay each time. One other thing to consider is would she like it there. I know my wife would want to come home after two weeks. The food is not Thai. Family is here in Thailand to cold and the list of Thai things goes on with her.

But I did check into it for taking her to Seattle and they have a Thai community club there. I am sure that would be a help.

My wife has just received a 5 year multiple entry visa for Canada. She can stay in Canada for up to 6 months on each entry. Then she must exit the country for at least 24 hours before she can return for another 6 months.

  2. Hahahaha! Someone obviously got their bottom slapped. giggle.gifcheesy.gif

    OK, fellow,s.

    Please be realistic.

How were the " injury " of the passengers ?

I don,t believe this are any thing to speak about.

They were send out after a short check out.

Cannot be anything to complain about.

Let,s wait to se what were the problems, or what goes wrong, before blaim Thai.

As I understand there are a lot of rain and windshear, on this airport, just this time of the year.

Thai record of incidents, read safety, are around the highest in western world.

As I can se on the pictures the aircraft, have just set down the front landing gear, maybee outside of the runway.

This should not be any bigger concern for a modern airliner.

Maybe the "passenger " try to get economy compensation, from Thai?

Lets wait and se if I are wrong, or when the investigation are ready.

Airbus Industry have send their own investigators, and will for sure, release the result, soon.

I am sorry to burst your bubble, but it was just a few months ago that I was reading about safety records of airlines around the world. Thai air was very close to the bottom of the list.

  3. I remember 3 years ago an obviously down and out chap came up to me asking for money. Had I been alone I would have told him to f*** off. However I was with my wife and did not want to appear as heartless. I gave him 100 bahts. Then he completely embarrassed my by dropping to his knees and kissed my feet for what seemed like an eternity. This being a very busy street people were stopping to stare. Frankly I was completely humiliated.

  4. Due to the accident, the east runway of the airport was damaged. While THAI will remove its aircraft within 48 months, the fixing on the 300-metre-long damaged area will also take the same time, said Sita.

The runway is expected to reopen before noon of September 11, he said. (About 47.9 months before the runway damage is repaired to make it safe for travelers.)

Sorry. Cheap shot. But I couldn't help it.

I'm hoping they meant 48 Hours. I can't imagine leaving a $100+ million asset idle for 48 months.

Life for most Thais can be so miserable at times, 48 hours just feels like 48 months.

  5. Anyone who forks out on luxuries such as a house or a car for the little lady takes the risk of separation and usually its inevitable.

so I dont have any sympathy with you lot.

The answer; if she cant afford it, you dont buy it.....if she thinks she can afford it, let the bank give her a mortgage.

Thats how I play it and it works, absolutely no freebies;...after 2 divorces in the West you tend to learn how not to make the same mistakes again.

Sounds like a statement that would be made by a farang that has no money to begin with.. So he takes on the tough guy role.

  6. What would have been newsworthy would be NO ladyboys on Nimman.

Thank you for supporting Racheal Jeantel with your Avatar.

She was ridiculed in the American media media for not speaking proper English. Also she was called" disrespectful" even though she adressed the prosecutor/ court every

time with "yes sir no sir", etc.

Americans don't speak "proper English" either, but they don't know it. They speak a regional dialect. Rachael Jeantel also speaks Haitian Creole and Spanish. Few Americans speak a second language or can even find their own country on a globe. Full disclosure I'm American.

I remember several years ago, one of the test questions for high school geography was where is Vermont located. Most students answered Canada.

  7. the comical "sushi" is from the street vendors; fish sitting in 35 C sun all day, sleeping in sauce to hide the fact the fish is not fresh, and sold for a whopping 10-30 baht. if your stomach is usually called fort knox, well good luck. but I can't eat that.

That is true of eating food from any street vendor. Not just sushi. Look at some of the eat in restaurants, Thai type.. Many if not most don't even have a refrigerator in the place.

  8. Shrimp...Thailand

    Tuna, Mackerel.. Wild

Grouper if its really grouper. Wild.. This is one fish that has many grouper like substitutes.

Salmon.. Farmed, Norway, Chile, Canada and Scotland

Salmon in Canada you can sometimes buy wild.

  9. I have looked for it here also for a few years. Much easier to grow than spinach and tolerates hot weather. Another advantage to chard when you are growing it. You can take a pair of scissors and cut it to within 1" or

2.5 cm's of the earth and it grows back very quickly. Whenever I go to shops that sell vegetable seeds I look for it but so far no luck. Another vegetable I cannot find here is arugula which is great for giving a nice peppery taste to a salad.

  10. Shortfall Costs to Thailand = Bt200,000,000 million annually.

Insurance package, which would cost about Bt500

6.19 of the 22.35 million tourists Have insurance because they are on package

No of people without insurance = 22,350,000 - 6,190,000 = 16,160,000= No of people who will be forced to take insurance

    16,160,000 * 500 = 8,080,000,000 Baht

    8,080,000,000 - 200,000,000 = profit of 7,880,000,000

    Future Earnings potential

Trying to work out the number of visitors in 2015 based on revenue.

    2,200,000,000,000/984,000,000 = 2.23 factor

    Future profit should be 7,880,000,000 * 2.23 = 17,617,886,178 baht

Nice little earner if you ask me.

    Den

Sorry but your numbers are completely wrong. Because once you remove tea money paid to the various government officials you are left with slightly more than bt 200 million.

  11. Kind of related question so will ask it

Anyone locate straight nicotine for sublingual delivery? Usually in 2 mg doses. Or liquid?

Not interested in patches or gums since they have undesirable ingredients.

Not addiction issue. Biohacking use for cognitive benefits and experimentation.

Nicorette liquid mouth spray. Each spray contains 1mg nicotine and mint for taste.
