Whilst we were in limbo about the decision about where to educate and raise our daughter I was lucky to have posted my thoughts on this very forum. A member posed the following question to me and this really was the saving grace in our final decision to staying in the uk. The member asked me - "Do your want live in Thailand for the way of life for your child or is it because you are the one wanting to live in Thailand " I answered this very question to myself and realised I wanted to be in Thailand I was creating excuses to make the decision to do it acceptable. The other thing pointed out time and time again is that Thai's given the choice or bases on finance would allow their children to be educated in Thailand choosing Europe and America instead. Thanks to the TV member that asked me that question it saved us lots of heartache.

I worry. 3 and 6 year olds blissfully unaware of their 'real' surroundings. Ill mannered driving, corruption out of control, god knows what awaits (Pattaya area) Is Bangkok a better option ?
Crazy thought - I would be terrified to bring up a child on Thailand knowing what lurks under the lovely exterior
-
Thailand makes for great vacation haven. Holiday time can be time to allow your children to be absorbed into the Thai way and all the thianess we all live. Then back to the real world for life

The only responsible way to raise a child is to raise it as far away from Thailand as possible. The western world even though a little over bearing offers a safe and educational environment with free thinking and generally appealing way of life.
Even Thai families given the chance would raise their children in a western society with a western education and a secure and safe environment that the western world offers.
If your in a mixed race relationship and considering a family it would only be fair to say maybe do not consider having a family unless you can afford to offer the best environment for that child to grow up in and based in the way Thailand always appears to be heading then the western world although tough probably offers the best choices.

When my daughter was young ( she is now 12 ) I did used to think that Thailand may be a better place to live but I have to say I am now so pleased we stayed in the UK, read my previous post to see how strongly I felt
I will add I do love Thailand and all that goes with it, I understand also that desperate people take desperate measures.
I also understand the Uk is not the perfect place to be
Reading through the forum and the news regards Thailand and the things that happen in LOS nowadays and in the past I am sorry to say that if there is a choice Thailand is no place to bring up a child unless your Thai or have no choices financially.
The country is a disaster and getting worse. There is so many things that are amazing about it but sadly so many of those things are sad and dangerous. In my opinion there are very few options in Thailand for young people.
How are families with young children in mixed race relationships coping with the decision of raising a family in a country that is so corrupt and in many cases dangerous and very volatile and unpredictable.

Most of the people I know have young kids and due to the education levels being so poor in Thailand and the opportunities for young people being limited they return with family in tow for a better more educated life back home.

We are really surprised how far Tia's news has travelled and the generosity in people willing to help and no matter how far they are.
We plan to do large registration drives for people to register as a donor and also fun for children to come along and play.
Tia's story has been in the Bangkok post ? and we are also trying to organise drives over there. We are certain we can pull this off.
Tia's doing very well now and eating a lot like her mummy ? and she seems like a different little girl and a lot more confident. She knows how to do sawadee ka which is hello in Thai ?
Please keep inviting people and sharing the
Thank you all for your messages and support. Xx -

Tia's family are very conscious of the efforts people are putting in and are mindful of your time and care regards this
Tia is having good days and bad days - new complications are regular
Tia is taken to hospital regularly and she is being taken to various place weekly the news changes as does the condition she has
Doctors are not certain what to do to help Tia
This condition has not been seen before
Tia's family are prepared for the worst
Tia's family need people to register as a possible donor and anybody that is happy to might just help in some way even if your not a match it might encourage someone that is
Tia and her parents live in the Uk
Tia needs people to like her page on FB

There is limits of age for donation of bone marrow but different agencies have different ages
Testing is simple and painless - within the is topic the addresses in the UK and Thailand that you can get more information about what you can do

If you are in the UK - you can see FAQ here very interesting
http://www.deletebloodcancer.org.uk/service/faq/general-questions.html
If you are in Thailand and want to help
http://english.redcross.or.th/node/53
Also most hospitals will be able to offer a service to see if you match -
If you can help spread Tia's story by putting up a flyer please see below
If you want a flyer to print and distribute please pm me your email and I will email you one in Thai and one in English
-
How long does Tia have? Will the procedure be done in Thailand? Safe? I'm mixed race all european tho, but pm me.
At present there is no prediction to how long - I am trying to find more info on the perfect match but the request from the parent is that we spread the work and be tested for suitability based on the fact there is a chance it might help.
There is talk which I need to confirm that a combination of two donors can also help as a last resort
Thanks for your reply

Thanks for your help again in answering the questions people post here
To everyone else - I hope to meet with Tia's family sometime soon to ask all your questions - I also have a contact that is running through the options of producing a video that we can post to help raise awareness regards this
Please please do what you can to support - even if it is just a like on facebook - they feel the support and if support helps then that is one good thing done for that day
If you have questions or idea please post here or say hello on the FB page

Okay people most of the information is here now to those that have helped with this and the posters that have shown intrest. I did ask Thai visa board admin to try and change the post but up to now they have not be helpful.
Please tell all your friends about this and maybe just maybe it will make a difference.
We need it to go out to any news stations
We need donors that may match directly to Tia or with a combination so everyone is welcome the address is above for bangkok
We will be distributing flyers sometime soon
We Would appreciate if you know of anywhere that might increase awareness of this please tell them - schools, universities, business groups maybe like rotary
Is there anyone a member of rotary on TV
Just help to spread the word to increase the amount of donors would be a great help
Thanks so much
Anyone on admin that can help change the heading of this topic please tell me
