I came across this on a website from a good midrange hotel in Pattaya, thoughts ?? Are these claims correct to amuse that things are on the increase big time
By October 2013 our prices will be adjusted only for the second time in 6 years:
100 Baht added to daily rate, 1000 baht added to monthly rate for all studios!
This covers not even 1 yearly inflation rate. Just to give you an idea how much the real
inflation rate is and why all businesses have already raised prices massively:
Just salaries (Gov. controlled) have gone up by 40% this year! This is driving many factories away from Thailand and it is getting very difficult for some businesses to make a living.

The question of bringing up kids in Thai or UK has always brought conflicting scenarios in my own head, I have a 3 year old son.
I also have a lovely house and farm here in Thailand, the farm makes approx 70,000 baht per month, I have 18,000 chickens.
I want to put up another chicken shed cost about 2 mill baht, then the business will be making in the region of 140,000 baht per month.
So my dilema is, I want to do this for my son in later life, but feel I am choosing a path for him, I dont think there are many opportunities here for him to make that sort of money, without him being shipped off to an International school and such I will never share his life.
Or go back to the UK where the standard of education is unquestionally better, and lots more opportunities in later life.
For me it's a tough call, just hope I get it right.
Yes this is the question what is right for the children.
I ask myself every day what if, you know the big '' what if'' question

Can I presume that as this has had over 1000 views and very few replies there is nothing to say on the matter and that maybe overall Thailand has little to offer for kid other than things being chilled out and nice warm weather
Did you actually read any of the replies?
Patrick
Yes I have, I comment based on the fact over 1000 have shown intrest and very few of those 1000 + have had any imput on the topic which is why it indicates to me there is not loads happening worth metioning

Just though i might wake this up again, we are still here in the Uk and I wonder most months from time to time if we still might consider a move to Thailand, my daughter goes to High school in September and it is another time if we were to move that would be a good time to do it before she starts high school.
Hard when you trying to make a decision to suit the best for all, inevitably we will move to Thailand but when,
Are those of you with kids there living in Thailand still all happy with how it is going ??

That is very helpful thanks, have wondered how much fun it might be to rough it in a beach hut. Would need fan and a bed though. Be nice experience for my daughter.

We want to visit Ko Samet prior to our visit to Pattaya in March, any hotel recommendations for a family 2 adults one child, pool wanted, not basic 3 star plus, something different a friend of mine years ago stayed somewhere in bungalows in the sea, I think, sounds a bit mad now I say it.

The only problem I have with agoda is that when you search for a hotel you can only put 2 adults as the search therefor the price is not guaranteed, our booking for BK has gone a little wrong as the hotel now want to charge a breakfast fee for my daughter despite emailing agoda and asking about the booking of my daughter on the booking, they said to go ahead and book and they would add her to the booking. Now the hotel want to charge 300 baht for breakfast !!!!
If you know what websites allow you to book for the whole party rather than only two people please tell me.
Yes it's annoying that Agoda have removed the child option from their website as some hotels want to charge for extra beds as well for kids.
I think it is very poor that this is not supported there are as many people traveling as a family as there are single or couples, think Travago are going to be adding group and family option soon so Agoda I am guessing will follow suit

Olympus Tough TG-1 IHS 12MP Silver Digital Camera
Waterproof 12m, shock proof. Hard core camera great reviews
£259 here not sure there
Hope this helps
Can i manually focus using the lens?
There are lots in the tough range check out the website not 100%
I have compact and slr which has manual focus, got fed up with manual as I am rubbish at being patient enough to learn, good luck anyway happy clicking.
Waterproof, shock proof fab for Thailand as the conditions are rather extreme, very tough piece of kit. Especially around Songkran !!!

We have always used car seats in Thailand. The family were a little amused until we explained the reason ( it is all about education - we get it they do not ).
It is simple they are there to be used
Some bk taxi's still do not have seat belts to strap the car seats in the back

I know not the exact answer your looking for but make sure you always travel with both passports and remember to keep both current. One time on my daughter Thai passport who was 8 years old at the time left Thailand on a trip and returned on it. We the tried to leave again on her British one as Thai one had ran out, the immigration rightly would not allow us to do this. We had to delay our journey to re apply and collect a new Thai passport before we traveled.
They always base the passport need on leaving and entry on the passport you used last time. With both passports for kids with only 5 years on easy to get caught out
I highlighted the "rightly" in your post because I take issue with it. I totally accept that is their practice but there is no "rightly" about it, the British Embassy took up a similar case a while back. Nor do I know of another nation that applies such a procedure. No wonder that so many Thai's holding dual nationality leave their Thai passport at home.
"They always base the passport need on leaving and entry on the passport you used last time.
Yes of course. So that's why you get a new passport and leave the country on it and they are none the wiser because it doesn't have an entry stamp.
Oh, don't worry you carry on. Not looking for a debate with you only looking to answer a question for the OP

Maybe be when your a big boy and reach maturity around 45 you might be able to work this out. One thing I go on is this.
It the sole shine through does it matter what holds it

As an onlooker in the forum I see very little chance of this being possible unless there is a large outlay of Capitol. The only way to make money in Thailand is this
Luck or You to plenty to invest on various large projects such as international franchise businesses talking millions.
The other thing you will need is lots of business experience as you will need to be very quick to see any strains the business is under, you will need to be able to work most of the questions out you have asked.
I suggest if you have some money to spare on investment then you invest in low risk investments in your own country and then follow your dreams to Thailand.
Do not throw money at this idea it is a huge risk
Only my thoughts as an onlooker please do not take any of my suggestions or thoughts as set in stone it is just an opinion

agoda have now offer to pay the cost for this misunderstanding on our return to the Uk, the hotel itself have not been helpful regards this matter

Other than the usual, save money , no hangovers, feeling generally crap and people calling me a prat the main reason was my 11 year old asking me " dad were you drunk again last night " since she has said " Dad I am proud of you and Dad you not drinking is the best thing that happened to me " think we all know that Alcohol is poison and classified so in the dictionary so good luck all, keep it real do it for you and your family and the rewards will be massive just like my rewards have been

Wow good job I asked this question on here as I had not even gave a thought to the return journey!
I will get straight on the case with applying for a Thai passport for him as well. Thank you so much for pointing out this potentially disastrous oversight!
To Blackandwhite; thanks for the warning, I am grateful to learn all this now while we still have plenty if time before our travels begin..
Best regards,
Matt
No problemo took lots of stress to sort, wife was in Thailand with daughter I was in the Uk, British Embassy would not help, had to cancel flights and it was a tense few days
