  10. 3 rooms robbed and 500,000 Baht’s worth of valuables taken at South Pattaya Hotel.

It appears there is a spate of robberies occurring at Hotels around Pattaya at this time and we urge all tourists to ensure that all valuable items are well secured. In the early hours of Wednesday Morning, Police were called to a popular hotel located in Soi 15 which connects Soi Beokeow with Pattaya Second Road. Three rooms on the 4th Floor had been broken into and valuables had been stolen from the room safe boxes. Police noticed that the doors had not been forced open and the safe boxes had been opened without any force. This suggested to them that someone inside the Hotel may have been involved or a professional group who known how to bypass door entry security systems and safe box combination locks were involved. All three rooms were occupied by English Tourists and they were taken to Pattaya Police Station to make a report of the incident. A total of 500,000 Baht’s worth of cash and valuables were stolen. CCTV is now being checked at the Hotel as Police attempt to locate and arrest those who committed the theft.

  19. Thai drug mail scam probed

    Published Date: 30 September 2008

A FORMER Doncaster man has been arrested in Thailand on suspicion of running a 'mail order' drug smuggling operation.

Raymond Pearson, who is reported to have told Thai drugs squad officers he is a retired policeman, was picked up after a planned raid at his apartment in the resort of Pattaya.

The 57-year-old is alleged to have been sending quantities of marijuana through the post. The destination has not been disclosed.

Officers from Thailand's Narcotic Suppression Bureau swooped on Pearson's home at the Pattaya Plaza Condominium last week after gathering evidence against him.

After his arrest and being taken to a local police station he was accused of running a drugs business by sending dried marijuana to overseas addresses by post.

Pearson, who denies the accusation and declined to answer questions, told the Thai officers he used to be a police officer in Britain and retired on health grounds.

He has sought advice from the British Embassy in Bangkok. He is believed to have been living in Thailand for some time after marrying a Thai woman.

It is not known which force he served with but South Yorkshire Police say he is not one of their former officers.

A spokesman for the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in London said today: "We can confirm a British national was arrested on suspicion of dealing drugs in Pattaya on September 22 and has asked for temporary assistance from the British Consul."

Pattaya is one of the most popular resorts in south-east Asia and has been transformed from a fishing village into an urban jungle with super highways, high-rise condominiums, hotels and grand shopping malls.

It is famous for offering vibrant entertainment with its infamous nightlife of go-go bars and beer gardens galore.

Recently efforts have been made to change its image with the addition of more legitimate attractions like golf, horse riding, water-parks, convention centres and botanical gardens.

  20. UPDATE

Suspect cleared by the Courts in recent Pedophile Case.

The Pattaya Court has rejected the case against Mr. Luc Jean Marie Vos from Holland and the public prosecutor will not sue him for the allegation of indecent behaviour towards an underage boy because of a false allegation. The boy involved confirmed in a second investigation by the police and the public prosecutor that he had lied about this allegation. This case put Mr. Luc Vos and his Thai family consisting of his son Jadet and three children Kriangkrai, Pariwat and Parivit under a lot of pressure and therefore we would like to offer him the possibility to clear his name. The story released about this case in May 2008 was not true and damaged the good name and privacy of Mr. Luc Vos. Mr. Luc Vos tells us he loves Thailand and the people and tries to be a good person to everybody and does all that is possible to take good care of his Thai family. Mr. Luc Vos does not believe that Pattaya is not a safe place to live for him and his family and is very motivated to take care of them especially after this case to make sure the three children will have a good future and life. Mr. Luc Vos apologises to anyone in case they have experienced personal problems because of this case against him .
