We're just about to do it. Assume you have the bank deposit and the letters from the bank confirming it? Let you know how it goes.
Please do, Thanks.

I've owned 4 cars in Thailand so far - each on just a Tourist visa.

Has anyone recently converted the 60day tourist visa into retirement visa from samui immigration?
-
Has anyone obtained one recently?
Sydney Thai Consulate do not have this type of Visa listed on their web site but have listed OA under retirement.

"Officially, yes. However it must be said, that TiT... Not every office interprets the rules the same. Ymmv."
Do u know any office that will allow me to register? How about Surat Thani?
Also who can provide letter of residency other than immigration?

I wanted to go back but the end of year football teams getting blind drunk and fighting on the streets turned me off. Along with their rented motorbike skills.Someone, who has been here just once, obviously on holidays, is by far not qualified to give proper advice whether Koh Samui is a good place for living or not. Moreover most people do not move here for the beach, but for the beach and the whole package of a convenient island life. If it would be beach only, I would be somewhere in the South Pacific
The North is nice too, of course, but 2 main reasons against it: can't handle the smoke for months and no beach. Actually if someone can choose, I can't understand why someone does not live next to the tropical sea. It's the by far the natural ultimate in Thailand with perfect air nonstop and fresh seafood and and and
Perhaps next time stay out of these areas, like going to Sydney & staying in the middle of King's Cross ( Notorious night district to the uninitiated ) . There is a lot more to the island then night life, lots of hidden gems.
"Sydney & staying in the middle of King's Cross ( Notorious night district"
It is NOT that bad, you can have a good time there provided you keep cool and control ur self!!

No. You don't have a visa you have a 30 days exemption. Long time ago you could only buy if you were resident (retired, married, working) then they changed it to include those on any type of visa including tourist. But excluding those on 30 day exemptions.I don't know what you think might have changed but if you read the link you provided it suggests that not much has changed! You can't buy a car without having longer term residency than just 30 days (which is specifically excluded) and 90 day reporting usually requires a one year visa.
Well it does say 'new' & I always thought one could only buy a car & register it own name on Non o or B visa, Am I wrong?
You can buy on a Tourist Visa.
With Just 30day Tourist Visa, can I buy a NEW toyota hilux?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app
ok, then if I get 60day tourist visa that should be ok?

Can both proof of residence letter from immigration and one year temporary license be done in one day in Nathon?
What is the process, can some one walk me through please?

Was looking to buy a new toyota hilux, which is just 520k, so need a 90 day visa to get thai DL?
You can get an one year temporary licence.
For the five year one, you'll need a non immigrant visa.
I changed my one year for a five year on a 30 day visa, but I did have a "proof of residence letter" from immigration.
Hotel address is enough to get "proof of residence letter" from immigration with 30day stamp?

Do you have a work permit?
Without it I doubt you'll get financing.
The road tax sticker you'll get the same time as you pay your insurance.
As long as you don't stay longer than 90 days in Thailand and have an IDP (International driving permit) you don't need a Thai DL.
It's easy to make a Thai DL and will cost you about 200 baht to convert your present DL to a Thai one.

Can this done with 30day stay tamp?

Check out : Nova Samui Resort Hotel
Address: 147/3 Moo 2 Chaweng Beach, hill room for around 600 THB -
There is a dealer on Samui, which of what I understand is an offshoot of the Surat dealership. For more precise answers Re pricing & tech questions, moving to motoring & leaving link in Samui forum.
As per the web site the dealership is ONLY in Surat, anybody has contact info of Samui dealer?
Prices are pretty much standard all over Thailand. The only thing is how many extras can you negotiate.
Would like to know from where (which dealer) can get maximum extras for cash purchase?

Anyone purchased a NEW Hilux Vigo STD from Surat Thani Toyota dealer recently?
What was the TOTAL price paid, under 520K all inclusive?
Also any comment on Fuel efficiency and driving comfort of the vehicle?
-
If you negotiate well and get insurance and registration, it'll cost you 538K Baht on the road, otherwise budget around 20K Baht extra for these.
Very unlikely you'll get a sales rep that will come out and offer you these into the deal at this price point - you'll need to push for them and/or lie and say some other dealer has already offered them
Sounds about right 2.5 ltr Space Cab 5 speed diesle (with inter cooler )
Bought one ( my wife ) 4 yrs ago & just finnished payments
Just pretend yu are also interested in a 3ltr auto isuzu as well
In our package we got
1 Year free full insurance - 20,000 bht app
Plastic moulde tray for back (ute) - 3000 maybe
Tinted windows - 3000 maybe
1 Yr free Registration - 1000
Side steps ? cheap ones
Bull bar - ? for looks
Car mats - 1000
How is the fuel usage what Kms per tank you get? Also will buy out right for cash, what documents and proof the dealer req. to register the vehicle, address and passport is enough?
-
Thanks, I prefer the STD 2.5J VNT, the list price is 538k Baht.
What will be approx cost all up on the road for cash?
Thanks again, and any dealer you can recommend?
-
There's always a deal to be had - but they're not going to be giving away discounts freely, so you'll have to be a good negotiator..
Farang can buy for cash or credit, same as Thai's.
Any ball park amount that I must pay for a basic manual single cab Diesel unit?
-
Also can a Frang buy it out right for cash?
-
Will be bit tight for 6ft 3in..
