  1. Quite amazing the TH attitude on the roads. Not to long ago I was the almost dead patient in an ambulance from Sriracha to BKK. I was fully conscious but in horrific pain. The operating theatre was being prepared while our driver was going at 140 km/hr on the highway. Almost the entire distance we were followed by several madmen, at some point literally fighting for pool position. The cars were so close we could recognize the drivers face.

The nurse and assistant on board were quite upset and arriving in BKK told me this happens all the time and often resulted in accidents when the ambulance driver had to step on the breaks.

Indeed, a very caring culture on roads at least. I am still alive and quite happy with private hospitals and the support of my insurance. MS>

  2. Making the same experience. Several Dr. s I knew mentioned Pattaya was not what it used to be. Dealing with often rude and cheap foreigners became more and more of a nuisance and they would move upcountry or work full-time in a hospital Certainly the drop in foreigners might factor in. Who knows? Still plenty of dentists around... MS>

  3. There is a lesser known money changer, mainly dealing with companies and tour groups, as well as individuals almost directly opposite Soi Diamond upper end, few meters South opposite. It looks like an old antique shop and the changing counters are in the back. Plenty of cash and currencies and for me best rates I can find. I will amend my post once I get to laptop and can do a name or picture search. SUPER T. MONEY CHANGER... MS>

  4. Imagine, just how much it has changed for us having been here for 20+ years. Like so many I missed the moment to leave 10 years ago... Still can't generalize and looking at some of the lowest class foreigners and their behavior, I must accept at least part of TH resentments.

No doubt, there are many better places to live. MS>

If you have a replacement passport, how would you be able to prove your Visa status for 60 days and not as a Visa Exempt entry?

Perhaps Immigration have a Digital Record of the Visa you arrived on and its expiry date?

I assume they have all this on their network, computer. Was hoping someone

would have few more details, especially time frame of the stations....Guesd will find out Monday. MS>

  6. Weird, what kind of people still defend DUI? Even more weird somebody caught puts it on a public forum without feeling embarrassed at all.

Why didn't you just refuse to pay and told the cops you wanted to go the legal way, jail and court...?? Maybe next time. MS>

  7. Looking at DUI consequences in the USA, Downunder or most civilized countries

20 K sounds like a bargain. There is really no justification for Drunk Driving. Get a Grab Taxi or call a friend. But drunks won't listen I am afraid. Drive safely. MS>

  8. Plenty of good customers in Pattaya. We shouldn't judge it by the Bouakao crowd and a large percentage of posters on TV.

Just look at the many upper end hotels, restaurants, the yachts in OM, the high end condos and villas, expensive imported meats and other items in supermarkets. The cheap Charlie's definitely don't keep the economy afloat here. But they certainly know all about how to run any kind of business. Wonder why they end up living in shi... holes and bragging about not leaving 5 Baht tip for a waitress with all their successes in life... MS>

  9. Well worth paying a bit extra and getting difficult diagnoses done in one of the big medical centers in BKK. Still need to pick a competent Dr. But chances are just better in BKK where you find all you need. That said, there are some excellent Dr.s in BPH. Sheryl can give great advise if you are not familiar with the situation. Once you find a top Dr. in his field, he will usually refer you to capable colleagues if needed. Good luck. MS >
