Sophon or Barnglamung cable  would probably be best for just TV  I believe they now send the signal digitally  so you can use the inbuilt tuner in newer tv's or buy a cheap DVB-T2 set top box if your TV doesn't have a digital tuner.

    Correct... MS>

This works on neighboring balconies. Use water and some cheap vinegar. Spray them and where they nest. Took me about 2 weeks for them not to come back. They hate any strong smells. But they don't give up easily.

Bloody pest, even transmit diseases and some morons still feeding them in condos.

    Enourmous damage to facades.

    Good luck. MS>

  3. Horrific work, often all day long under tropical sun. Often totally unprotected with middle aged methods. I am all for punishment, but this is over the top. Watched this often in BKK and recently few times in Pattaya. They seem to be in ok spirits, surprisingly. Dealing with sh..., snakes, rats and more.

No greater pleasure at such encounters than getting off my bike, walking into the next 7/11 and buying 10 big bottles of coke. Never was stopped handing them out to the groups of prisoners by any of the few guards hanging out nearby in the shadow of a local restaurant or such. In fact many thumbs up and quite a few grateful Wais or shouts.... Feel free to copy me. MS>

Well, thanks for telling me how to live my life ...

You may pay zilch, nada etc, AT THE HOSPITAL, but you are paying through the nose beforehand by buying insurance, which is just really a bet and only enriches the insurance companies.  More fool you.

Those of us from a country which cares for its citizens and provides free healthcare at the point of use (albeit paid for from salary) don't need to worry about things like health insurance.

I am so happy I paid "through my nose" for Private Int. Insurance all my 35 years abroad. Cost me around 180K $. However I am still alive 4 years into stage 4 cancer and numerous surgeries, immunotherapy, targeted therapy.... Cost so far total of various countries about 1.2 Mio $

BTW TH private uptodate treatment is in the upper bandwidth of expensive European countries. Trust me, I know the numbers. Still cheaper than USA, which is ridiculously costly.

I know plenty of cases who bragged having a couple Mio Baht set aside and self insure.... Not even close enough for serious cancer treatment or major surgery.

I fully understand TH demanding mandatory health insurance for resident retirees. Most countries do. Don't be so naive to assume you are entitled to free care, just because you are citizen of one of the few countries with free health care.

Be insured and sleep better. MS>

If there's such a place as a good place to get cancer then it has to be the UK you can get your treatment on the NHS here in Thailand the cost of Chemo can range from 150k to 400k Baht per time then the radio and whatever else you need after medication, thats in the private hospitals bye the way

Easily up to 1 Mio per month, if doing combo immune therapy or targeted therapy. And you might be on it continuously up to reoccurring disease or toxicity. Don't neglect sidecost. Better have very good insurance.

Since much of the Thai economy is based on tourism, it is a no brainer to assume with a global economic downturn things like vacations will be put on hold. Ergo less tourists and less tourist dollars/pounds/Euro being spent in the land of smiles.

Tourism is a relatively small part of the TH economy. It is just that we read daily about it, what makes it appear much bigger. There are major export industry.

And the myth of Chinese not spending money. Think again or ask your watch, jewelers, brand shops in tourist areas at home.... You will be surprised...The links below just for general information.  Regards. MS>

  7. Thank you all. Thanks for the factual answers and/or reminders to others  too. I have learned to write posts, leave them for 15 minutes unsent, then read them again. Often I realize with the second reading,  that my initial response was emotional, stupid, personal sentiment, but often no help or proper way to answer. Either re-write or delete. Seems that especially Pattaya produces a lot of what I just mentioned. Overall TV is a great forum and even so I have a broad knowledge in many respects, I have been glad many times, to get confirmation or new info, mostly to help other on TV. Thank you all and nice Sunday.  MS>

  8. Can anybody possibly elaborate on the new non-smoking  laws, besides the new regulations regarding smoking at home.

Just to be ready for the rumor-spreaders.....

What is the rule in bars? Restaurants? Inside? Outside/ Aircon? Gardens of condominiums? Swimming pool?   Etc. Etc.

Got a 4 page TH version, but no chance to get a clear translation.

    Thank you all.
