  1. I think he should have been allowed to serve out his last term of office. as it were, the coup and PAD have yet to prove any guilt on the part of thaksin.

NONE! only heresay. and a lot of jealousy.

    GO THAKSIN!

    :o:D :D :D

Dang, don't you read the news? He concealed money, used his position in order for his family to buy land at under market value, sold a Thai telecommunication company to a foreign country, etc, etc, etc. I guess some folks just ain't gonna accept the facts.

    accept the facts?

"sold thai tele company to foreign counry." so, what about the telenor sale to norway? what was that? and how about the samart sale to a malaysia company? what was that? these two transactions happened before thaksin even attempted to sell shin to singapore.

"use his position to buy land at under market value." hey. the property was put up for bid. do you know how bids work? do you know what an auction is?

"conceal money." if he concealed the money, then, how were the coup able to locate the money?

<snip> like I said... heresay. and a lot of jealousy.

thaksin went to a major international legal firm for their professional recommendation on the sale to singapore. and they gave him the ok.

accept the facts. yeah. right. why don't you?

  2. my guess on why anti-thaksin elements didn't continue their goal of crucifying thaksin..

they found out through their research that the TRUE liar was sonthi limthongkul. when they found this out, they were devastated by the realization. this man who is a member of their own group was more corrupt than thaksin could ever be.

the fact that they only gave sonthi limthongkul a small sentence for his crimes shows how shocked they were.

  3. has anyone congratulated the PPP for their win yet? if not, I would like to be the first. and hopefully, the country can be like it was before where thailand was receiving visitors from all over the world. where investors came to invest their money.

no matter who won. all I wish for thailand is prosperity, and for the people to be happy here. I want thailand to be strong in spirit and in the eyes of the world.

  4. the only reason to marry is because you want to have kids. to provide them a stable environment. otherwise, it doesn't make sense to marry someone.

god made humans the way they are to propagate. men are horny, and women want security. if you understand this, and accept it as the way it is, then, you will be happy.

meat against meat. the act of love. yet, why do men want to do it so much? imagine making a hole in a beefsteak and thrushing your finger thru it. would you be interested in doing this? ladies, buy yourself some usda prime, shape to the size you desire, coat it with astroglide, and you will have the same effect. sounds weird. but think about it. why the desire?

    god at work.

  5. when I first got my true adsl, I received a simple adsl modem with it. but then, I wanted to be able to have wireless capability if I needed it. so, I just disconnected my adsl modem, and installed my linksys adsl wireless router.

you don't need to have both installed.

when I first setup my true adsl, I had to use their adsl modem and the true software to define my true ID and password. but after doing that, I switched my adsl modem out and replaced it with my linksys adsl wireless router.

you need the true ID and password when configuring the linksys adsl wireless router.

working like a charm. don't even use the true software anymore either.

  6. if you want to go to america, but you don't fulfill the qualifications to do so. ..you might consider going to canada. canada hasn't felt the first hand damaging effects of unlimited immigration. so, their laws are more relaxed for foreigners wishing to live there.

check out this website for more info..

    http://www.soscanada2000.com/eBooks/freeoffer.html

once you get into canada, and live there for a while, it will be a piece of cake to migrate to the usa. ..if that is still what you want to do.

like I said, canada hasn't YET felt first hand the damaging effects of unlimited immigration. so, they are very naive on what's to come. get in while you still can.

it's the chance of a lifetime for many people looking for more opportunity.

    canada.

  7. if you are worried about the cost of food, move to canada. I hear that they offer free food, free medical care, and free education to anyone who lives there.

you don't even have to be a legal citizen to get these benefits either.

all the illegal aliens who are being forced out of the usa are going to canada now.

imagine... free cheese and free milk.

  8. everybody knows that the odds of having a successful marriage is 50/50. that being the case, why then, do people get married????? ..think about it, the odds of a successful marriage is the same as gambling at a blackjack table in a casino.

and yet, people still get married.

get smart, don't get married. have kids if you want them. but do so with someone who agrees to not marry you, and expect you to split your assets with him/her if you stop living together.

    need more tips?

    http://www.nomarriage.com

marriage is like gambling. only one in a million hit the jackpot.

  9. many of my friends in college were asians from southeast asia. after hanging out with them for a while, I noticed that many of them did not open up to me too much. no joking or personal details about their life ever came out into the open. so, one day I curiously asked them why this was the case. ..why didn't they open up to me more?

after many years of asking, one of them sat down with me and said simply quote, "what you say can haunt you later on." that is why so many people including thais don't say much to strangers.

and in this situation with burma, thailand being so close to burma, I think keeping your mouth shut is a survival technique.

the reality is - someone around the corner could do something to you if they don't like what you say.

burma - so close, and yet - so far away.

  10. ultimately, the problem with the average thais not having enough money to spend is not thaksin, nor the companies that they work for, it is their own fault for not asking for more, and demanding it.

if you won't stand up for your rights, then, whom do you expect to do it for you?

    an example....

if you work at the fast food places, you on average get like 25 baht per hour. for one day, if you work 10 hours, you get 250 baht. the owner of the fast food place is probably bringing in AT LEAST a hundred orders an hour. if an order is 100 baht, that's 10,000 baht gross per hour. 10 hours, and the place is grossing AT LEAST 100,000 baht A DAY. since fast food joints probably have 30% profit margins, my guess is - they are netting at least 30,000 baht a day. with a crew of 10, 2500 baht salary to get at least 30,000 baht a day. well, you figure it out.

thais have no one else to blame but themselves.

thais need to learn how to unify for their own benefit.

  11. I'll end up still remembering the governments of Banharn, Chuan and even the bumbling Chavalit as islands of freedom even if not that effective, and that is very sad. All of the freedoms that we discuss today and the 1997 constitution were widely, openly and freely discussed under these governments. People were open to others ideas and debates. People could differ in opinion and still work together. Sadly this spirit of openness, frankness, and spirit of democracy has disipated into a winner taskes all and screw you and I am always right mentality.

The problem was that yes, there was far more freedom in those days, but for a large majority of Thais it was a time where they had hope and not much else, and especially after the financial crises even the last bit of hope was taken away from them.

I doubt though that the freedom was something that was intended (remember, please, even in those days you had regular draconian measures, just remember the Smile Radio issue), but that was a result of attention given more to constant power struggles between weak coalition governments, their partners and the opposition.

And after '97 the country slipped into a tremendous drug crises, because governments such as the Banharn government did not much more than changing the name of the amphetamines from "Ya Maa" (horse pill) into "Ya Baa" (crazy pill).

That does not mean that i agree with the methods of the drug war, but something had to be done.

Your points are valid C.P. and as you always make a point of stating your support for ridding the country of drugs.

The problem with saying " but something had to be done " seemingly comes across as giving an O.K. to Thaksins method of alledgedly wiping it out and in turn using this to murder thousands of victims in an evil vendetta to protect vested interests among certain Puyai.

Many posters in this thread have already pointed out the correct and proven way to tackle this world wide problem and irradicate the causes that feed this vicous circle and consequent curse on society.

Murder is not one of them and i am confident you will agree with this.

    IMHO of course

    marshbags

maybe it wasn't "murder". maybe it was self defense. I mean, think about it, if you were a drug dealer, and you were caught with your pants down with a supply of drugs, what would you do? you know the penalty for drug dealing is death here in thailand. could it possibly be, these drug dealers decided to try to run away? and they started shooting at the police. that would make it self defense on the part of the police, wouldn't it?

is there any possibility that this was the scenario? any remote possibility at all?

I mean the picture some of you guys are trying to convey to the readers about these drug dealers is that they are your average citizens parading around like innocents while they go about their business selling drugs which happen to destroy peoples lives.

get real. my guess is - many of them probably carried guns on them illegally.

  12. personally, if I pay for my seat, I believe I have the right to recline my seat. if the person behind is big, he or she should consider getting 2 seats. it is not my problem if they are so big, they are taking up my space. space that I paid for. right?

selfish? consider this. have you had a fat person sit next to you on a bus before? I have. their body usually intrudes into your seat forcing you to cramp up, or move to accommodate their bigger body. what do you call that?

Since it is OK to hurrass fat people, how about skinny people with long legs? Should they have to buy two seats and sit sideways so you can recline an extra 2 inches, instead of of using a little common courtesy and not putting your seat back so far? :o

common courtesy goes both ways, bro. or don't you know that?

if you are tall, and expect me to not recline for your sake. what if I'm tired, and need to get some sleep? you telling me not to recline because you FORCE me to adhere to your needs tells me - you don't give a f#ck about me. right? if you were concerned about your neighbor, you wouldn't FORCE them to suffer having to be uncomfortable for you. the same thing applies to anybody big or tall that intrudes into the space that I paid for. and I'm just stating a fact. no harrassment intended.

I bet you would expect me to share some of my profits off a big property sale - whether I want to or not. right?

  13. not being there, you can't really make an opinion.

personally, if I pay for my seat, I believe I have the right to recline my seat. if the person behind is big, he or she should consider getting 2 seats. it is not my problem if they are so big, they are taking up my space. space that I paid for. right?

    same thing.

on the question of racism.. I don't know about you people. but there is definitely a lot more animousity towards foreigners. more so than a few years ago. you read in the papers. you see in the streets. anybody who has lived here for a long time can see the changes. it's a fact. and not a figment of someones imagination.

what to do about it? nothing much you can do about it, really. you can take it or leave.

why it exists at the level that it is at? I don't know. probably a combination of many factors. one being - life is getting tougher here for many thai people. frankly, I am really surprised at how tough, many thai people are. living day to day is not easy. I thought living month to month, paycheck to paycheck, was tough enough. imagine living day to day? I think if I was faced with this scenario, I would just give up, and jump off some roof somewhere. honest.

back to the main topic... I think the farang chic showed some class. and the thai girl was out of line if she didn't even bother to ask the farang girl to raise her seat prior to going balistic.

  14. All I'll add is its a lot easier to be a Thai in Australian than to be an Australian in Thailand.

    Seriously?

If I was Thai there's absolutely no way I could manage to live in Europe. (Unless I was really very rich, like Thaksin. For UK people, "money number one", I guess.)

    australia is not in europe.

anyway, it used to be easy to live in usa. so easy, many illegal immigrant go there. but pretty soon, this will all change. we americans don't want illegal immigrants living in america. legal ok, but not illegal.

This is already a HUGE mess of a debate and subject of reform in the US now, primarily regarding Mexican illegal aliens and what to do with the big numbers of illegals currently in the country. Lots of impassioned view on both sides. But, the issue is mostly about poor illegals coming into America to perform jobs most Americans don't want to do, and then the subsequent burden on society when those illegals turn into families with health, crime and other problems.

The Thailand issue is not that, they know how to deal with Burmese. We're talking about inward investors with money here, not laborers.

    sorry to be off topic...

but if you are an american, and are interested in teaming up with other americans who wish to get the illegals OUT of america, check out the following website - http://www.numbersusa.com

and the issue isn't about jobs that americans don't want to do. it is businesses wanting to pay cheaper wages lower than minimum wage. check out the above website for the TRUE story.

when we are done, we will get rid of the H1B visa too. we already stopped legislation to DOUBLE the number of H1B visas.

  16. Talk about a witch-hunt. You'd think they'd done enough by now ...

I agree with you. it is a witch hunt.

thaksin is just one man. he couldn't do everything by himself even if he wanted to.

as a foreigner, I don't really care. but so many things you read in the newspaper here make you wonder.

...for instance, they blame thaksin for all the vote buying. yet, he is gone, and the committee has confiscated all his money. so, then, who is to blame for the vote buying now? all the vote buying that is occurring on both sides that they say is happening since thaksin is gone?

as for the drug executions, we still got police and army killing people. so, who is to blame? thaksin? he is gone.

    witch hunt.

  17. Whats the worst you have done in the past 10/20 years of playing a hoax, joke or a cruel misdemeanour?

I worked in the Middle East for 11 years and the Arabs were a pain in the arse towards the Brits.

So travelling to different parts and staying in so many hotels, I got a kick out of moving the plastic sticker by the bedside of the arrow pointing to Mecca for the Muslims to pray to the opposite direction.

I dont think that many of them were sent to hel_l by Alla. :o

if you were caught in the middle east for doing that, my guess is - you would have gotten at least 20 lashes in a public display. burning a copy of the koran would get you the death penalty.
