I’m in Thailand for 90 days already
entered with 30 day exemption, 2 extension
What can I do for STV ?
What is The maximum amount of times I can extend ?
You can only get a STV from your home country.
Assuming you are on covid exts check your crystal ball for how many more will be available. Current deadline 25th March.
Depending on your circumstances you could convert to Education, marriage or retirement others will know more about that.

I am heading from CM to Koh Lanta at the weekend so will be applying for my covid ext in Krabi. I entered on a STV so reckon I should be ok. I have read the report about the 1k 'express fee' to get 60 days straight away but need to get clear the under consideration stamp. Is it return on that specific date or can it be done a couple of days before. No issues with any of this just need to plan my visits around the number of days down there. Cheers.

Personally have not had much luck asking Thai I.O's to use a specific page even with a post it note saying 'please stamp here' in Thai. Have found Singapore to be the most helpful when it comes to 'filling in the gaps'

Got a new Revolut card in the post last week. Withdrew 5,000B. Got charged 5,220 as expected.
Revolut charged 1% or £1.20 as they regard THB as a 'rare currency' The actual conversion rate was 44.6 so reasonable. No other charges.
Will add that I was making sure the card worked before leaving Thailand and access to my Bangkok Bank account. Not a big fan of this 220B malarkey.

If you arrive visa exempt you should be asked for proof on onward travel at check in. This often does not happen but why risk the stress. As recommended above a cheap flight from anywhere in Thailand to anywhere outside Thailand will do. Alternatively look up onwardtravel for 'rent a ticket' Peace of mind in my book for $12 or so

Do you have one only thai vaccination certificates or a mix of thai and foreign certificates ?
I tryed this morning at the Provincial Health Office (Phuket) and asked to put together, in one only document, my thai and foreign vaccinations but they said me that they (as Health Office) do not recognize foreign vaccines.I tried to show my Thai booster cert (to get in to a flower festival in Chiang Rai of all things) It was not accepted but I found the printed pdf of my 2 Pfizers from the UK which was fine. Apart from that in the last 6 months have been to Nan, Phayao, Pai, MHS by car and Bangkok by train. Stayed in hotels in all these places and been asked for nothing other than a passport and that only occasionally.

Thanks
didn't know they were flying to London.
I see the route is Singapore-Bkk- Gatwick
Excellent time to fly (all day time route).
Have flown Scoot long distance on multiple occasions and at the price they're great value
Only good experiences with Scoot. As long as you realise that as a budget airline any 'extras' need to be paid for. Used them many times since they took over the CNX to SIN route from Silk. Would certainly give them a go longer haul and heading to Oz it is a good excuse to have a couple of nights in Singapore.

Been a 1 stop trip only choice makes a difference, now if they did a dub to bkk I would too
Strange how priorities differ. I quite like a couple of hours break to stretch my legs. Qatar is my preferred option from London currently but pre covid Emirates were flying from Stansted which was handy for me. Different strokes for different folks and all that.

Your covid extension was granted Jan 7 and currently that extension is valid till March 8.
Your under consideration period was irrelevant.
Normally you would apply coupe of weeks prior to expiry.
Something like Feb 22 would be fine.
Jack, The OP has stated here and on another thread that he was on a volunteer visa. Would he still get another covid ext? Dont want to muddy the waters as not sure of the status of volunteer visas. Thanks

If you are on Covid extensions and entered on a tourist visa or visa exempt just go and apply for another one before expiry of your current extension

I got my insurance with AXA Thailand. Spoke to the agent direct, told him I was applying for a STV and I got a policy schedule stating the cover that met embassy requirements. Not a recommendation as such but it got what was needed. PM me if you would like his contact details

You're mistaken.
You did not sit a "GCE 'O' level in English Grammar" exam, as no such exam existed.
You may have sat a GCE 'O' Level in English Language or English Literature exam.
Yep. I did my O levels in the mid 80's. Definitely did English Language and English Literature.

When covid extensions stop I will leave, no complaints from me.
As far as a correct visa goes immigration have checked my paperwork, accepted my fee and stamped my passport. My extension of stay is just as 'correct' as yours or anyone else

2 minutes ago, Dan O said:Thailand said it at the begining when they first gave this option and it was valid as most travel had come to halt worldwide. Currently there are only a couple countries that are restricting entry. Most complainers are just milking the system, especially with the whole land border being closed excuse. Those are just border bounces also sidestepping correct visas for the most part. Not many countries allow that type of approach in order to stay in a country
So you would kick out those on covid ext who inject much needed cash in to a struggling economy even if they in no way affect you?

Quick report. Got my first covid extension on a STV. I used an agent because I hate the bureaucracy and inconsitency at immigration (just a personal view)
In CM you can not get around the 60 days from application rule but I did avoid the under consideration stamp and a second visit.
Only forms required were the tm7 and 'covid form' along with the usual copies.
No onward flight, financials, embassy letter or any of that nonsense.
To clarify, I got this yesterday so last day under the 'old rules'

Not sure where ourworldindata are getting their figures from but for its last data point the 23rd Jan it is showing a case count of 10,860 whereas the official dashboard on the 23rd showed only 7,686 PCR positive tests carried out. Seems like we now have a range of different figures for Thailand along with the ATK tests.
PCR test positive cases, total of 6,718 official new infections. 12 official covid deaths recorded.
Rapid tests positive cases, 2,032 bringing the total of PCR and ATK results to 8,750

Rolling 7 day average chart from 23rd Jan

That 11k figure is the one quoted on the CNA website. Wondered where it came from. Thank you.

Seems you haven't even looked into what's required.
However these are your words from above.....
"Hopefully by then the Communist party of Australia will let people with family there in not just Chinese students with rich parents".
Seem you have complete confidence of the requirements.
I suggest you do not.
Always happy to accept when I am wrong. Would not be the first time

What stops you from going to Australia. You need a visa,?
I have a British passport, family moved to Oz years ago. I am not 100% but think only citizens, residents and a few others can get in at this time. Happy to be proven wrong

My guess is the opposite.
Some folk coming visa exempt knowing that can obtain 30 day extension and follow that with 60 day covid extension.
If covid to continue announced soon I would expect tourists looking for up to 4 month stay will be encouraged to come to Thailand.
If the covid extensions are not continued I will just move on, no drama. Looking at a 6 month indonesian visa if I qualify. It is expensive and 7 days quarantine but no biggie. Hopefully by then the Communist party of Australia will let people with family there in not just Chinese students with rich parents

I will be going to immigration myself tomorrow. They will either make an announcement before I get there or they wont.
I gave up worrying about things over which I have no control a long time ago.

Unclear why everyone is waiting? Until there's an announcement, they've not stopped them; so why not rush down get the extension before any announcement.... just in case. Or wait, and maybe not get extended.
In some provinces the 60 days starts at date of application for the first Covid extension. Understandable why people leave it late.

"The truth is out there. I want to believe." (insert UFO image here)
Do you offer lottery numbers and astrology readings? Any stock picks?
I don't think anyone claimed or is claiming that COVID extensions would be given "forever"?
At a minimum I think they will be extended 25 Jan and 25 Mar, and assuming border normalization, then that might be it.
Anyway, this thread is about a special type of visa, which owing to its potential length (270 days - little FH experiences to date), and clear condition of no extension/conversion is in a bit of a grey area. I think Imm should grant qualifying COVID extensions (as if it were a TR/TVE) on the STV, but that's just my opinion. IMO a senior Imm official should weigh in with a decision and broadcast that kingdom-wide. Likelihood that happens? ZERO.
I have an STV. In the event of covid extensions not being continued I have an appointment booked for the 25th. If they are continued I will cancel the appointment and go closer to my expiry date. To facilitate this I am using an agent (I hate immigration anyway) At no point has there been any mention of covid extensions not being available to STV holders
-
The unhelpful answer is it depends on where you are extending.
I did mine in Chiang Mai. Was not asked for insurance first time, second time I was.
You will need the usual copies so passport photo page, visa page, page with entry stamp, application form, TM30 and 1,900B.
Don't leave it till the last day just in case they decide to ask for additional info which is always a possibility.

That seems to be the procedure for your first covid extension.
The 60 starts from day of application.
I can see the dilemma.
Gamble on covid extensions continuing after Jan 25 and wait till closer to Feb 17.
Personally I believe they will continue. Have to.
Anyway your call. Is it possible to ring trat immigration and ask if they can date from Feb 17.
The 60 days from application is frustrating as I am stamped in till 20 Feb.
My cunning plan is I have an appointment booked at immigration on 25 Jan and if extensions are not continued I will turn up and see what I can get.
If they are continued, I will cancel the appointment and go closer to 20 Feb.
I am using an agent and would consider this approach a bit risky without one.
Fingers crossed for the 24th!

I was in the same situation last year in CM. I posted a 90 day report off just in case. It was returned with a very polite handwritten note saying that it was not required. Thought it was a nice touch.
