  1. When I first got here and met a Thai woman, I soon found myself being nudged towards a "gift". Sort of shocked, I nonetheless let go of Tbaht 12,000. Things went a little bit further and I was hit up the next month for Tbaht 20,000. Gave in both times. When the next month came around and there was a request for Tbaht 30,000 I bailed out. Down about $1000 American, but it was an immediate lesson well learned.

Its the same with my new one she has everything, 2 houses Own New Car, own bike, she is only 28, but when you ask her, how did you got all this, she just tells me a different story every time, but forgets what she told me the last time. It very funny actually. she couldnt lie straight in bed but then again nither could I.

I just love Thai Woman and love to move on as well.

    :D:)

  2. Just as a matter of curiousness, i bought a litre of 'green liquid' that the woman assures me "will clean, will clean good, no problem".

Contained on the bottle are no indications of what this substance is: maybe for fear of somebody copying her magic green liquid. However, i believe it to be some kind of 'acid', sulphuric acid possibly?

It was bought in the lower ground level of Tesco (i'm sure many centre's across the land have these vendors). Eager to test it out i applied a small amount in a non-conspicuous area at first to test the out the Thai woman's proverbial exclamation.

    It actually worked!

Tomorrow i will see if - the area i picked on - still remains.

Note to Seaeagle: i apoloigize, when i refered to my driveway being "sandstone", it is in fact, sandwash as you pointed out

I jet wash and then put diluted chlorine down, let it dry for half a day then get the hose pipe out and wash it down. Once every 6 months.

  3. I have to pay tax on this money :D:D even though I am no longer entitled to any benefits. :o:D:D

You are entitleled to benefits, just not when living overseas its called Pension Credit which gives the elderly without the state pension a minimum amount per week think its around £120.

Also you would be entitled to winter fuel payments & a few other small help add on's its not the states fault your in Thailand sorry.

Thia post about paying tax on his pension is not correct.

A personal allowance is approx 9000 pounds a year. If he is married then both get this allowance before tax.

If he has other income then once the allowance is breached then, yes, tax is then due on the excess.

I have a state pension of 137 pounds a week on which NO tax is due. I have other pensions and tax is deducted from these .

Please check the following URL it will tell you what you need to know on Tax in the UK. http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/rates/it.htm

Tax laws 90 days in the UK within a tax year max average over 4 years, this way you are tax free.

And about NI number, I dont have one, mine was removed from the system even though I have a britsh passport and I had a house in the UK which I gave to the X-wife in 2000. I had not paid into the system since 1980 as I have worked overseas all this time.

If you dont pay into the system then Im not entitled to take anything out.

If you leave the country for more than 181 days you are classed as none resident and the Doc will remove you off his system.

  4. R.C.M.P.

A Mountie pulled a car over on the Trans

Canada about 2 miles West of Winnipeg.

When the Mountie asked the driver why he

was speeding, the driver answered that he

was a magician and a juggler and he was

on his way to Brandon to do a show that

night at the Shrine Circus and didn't

    want to be late.

The Mountie told the driver he was just

fascinated by juggling, and if the driver

would do a little juggling for him then he

wouldn't give him a speeding ticket.

The driver told the Mountie that he had sent

all of his equipment on ahead and didn't have

anything to juggle. The Mountie told him that

he had some flares in the trunk of his patrol

car and asked if he could juggle them.

The juggler stated that he could, so the Mountie

got three flares, lit them and handed them to the

    juggler.

While the man was doing his juggling act, a car

pulled in behind the patrol car.

A drunk, good old boy, driving through from Alberta

got out and watched the performance briefly.

He then went over to the patrol car, pulled opened

the rear door and then got in.

The Mountie observed him doing this and went over

to the patrol car, opened the door and asked the

drunk what he thought he was doing.

The drunk then replied to the Mountie ...

You might as well take me to jail ... "Cause there's

no fuc_kin` way I can pass that test"

  5. Yea I would check it out first for a Sunday and see what and

I will be there on Sunday's to meet up with all of you guys.

Should be good fun to get back in to the flying mode and join

    your club.

I can imagine the battle of Britain a bit LOL, sound good to me.

  6. People seem to forget who controls the money tree. If you have a mate who thinks there is no bottom in the well, whose fault is that? My well is certainly not bottomless but I happen to control how much I draw out of the well. Some people should look for a new mate.

Right on! Anyone who allows a person who doesn't understand the words budget, living within your means and save for the future, free access to their funds deserves to be "taken to the cleaners" by their Thai honey. From the beginning I made it clear to my now Thai wife that she will not have free access to my money (which was made prior to our meeting), I am not the answer to any family financial problems and I will not support a life of luxury, even if I have the funds to do so.....I don't believe in it. I told her not to marry me if she can't understand and agree to all of that.

Well, 8 years later we are still married, are financially sound (even after me being unemployed in US for 6 months now and making mortgage payments etc.) and live a comfortable life, having everything we NEED and some of what we WANT. Gotta know the difference between needs and wants.

The success of this started from the beginning....had a agreement with family that if the wedding ceremony yielded less than 100,000 Baht from the guests......the family would refund from the Sin Sod half the difference of the shortage of 100,000 and if it were more than 100,000 we would give family half the difference (share in the feast or famine). It came in at about 70,000 and I told my wife she had 24 hours to get my 15,000 from the family. Although she wanted to let it go, I did not and received my money......setting the standard with her and the family that I stick to my agreements and will not be a "financial pushover". Agreements are agreements and they are made on the honor of a person, family or group.......hold them (wife, family and yourself) to their word from the beginning and you won't have a problem of running out of money, provided you know and have the stomach to say no.

    Regards,

    Martian

The problem is Martian, we have one in ten who think that way. They have done it to them selves and blame a system they didnt understand in the first place.

  7. And so my post, which contains my opinion should be censored because it does not fit in with your beliefs?

Whatever my beliefs, I feel your comment falls under the "religious or racial slur" rule.

No, it is not a religious slur.

My comments are a criticism of a festival that I have no affinity to that has been imposed on me (all of us) whether we like it or not.

It is something that I find to be quite inconvenient and given the choice I would prefer that we are spared of it, but I can do nothing about that. Likewise with new year, it is just another day on the calendar.

Anyway, get back on topic, what are you doing for Christmas?

Well I was going to the Pub, but it sounds like I better go to Church and find that Toad

  8. Over the years if has become increasing difficult for ex-pats under the age of 50 to stay in Thailand for the long term.

    1. Not eligible for a non-immigrant visa on the basis of retirement.

    2. Married to a Thai wife, must be working and earning 40000 baht per month.

    3. Working, must be working and earning 40000 baht per month in a job not prohibited by law in Thailand.

Whenever I encounter an under 50 ex-pat, I ask myself the question, is he/she here legitimately?

So for you under 50s, how do you obtain your cost of living expenses in Thailand?

No 1. Still under 50 and went there in 1995

No 2. Got divorced 10 years ago, not getting married again, X not Thai.

No 3. Was working there but now in Russia, 28 X 28, but home is Thailand GF, Dogs, Tropical Fish.

No 4. What was the next one, am I legitimately living in Thailand, As far as I am aware I am.

Unless more laws change in Thailand. Are you ? have you been all the time ? will you be in the Future ?

    :o

  9. Home is where me and my wife live at the time, I am on a British Passport and my wife is on a Thai passport.

Where ever we go to live on the next job, we dont think about belonging to anywhere, besides with each other.

We have homes in Thailand and Spain and we go together where ever I work if it is possible.

Ive worked in Thailand twice before and we never think about anything, besides getting on with our live.

There is more too life than worrying about do I feel at home here, life is for living.

I left UK 1980 and never lived in a place long enough to think about calling it my home.

The way the world has change over the last 30 years you could live any place if you wanted too.

  10. I got the one year licence on a 30 day tourist visa, I think the wife being Thai helps and she explained that she has been asking me to get one for years as I work out of the country I didnt give a Damm. Anyway she won, I got one.

This year got me the 5 year one, maybe the same reason I dont know.

But you are correct it does say Non-Imm "O" visa required, the Long haired one said, dont worry just watch.

Its good for Id as well.

  13. Bangkok airport to remain closed

    From correspondents in Bangkok

    Reuters

    December 02, 2008 09:25pm

BANGKOK international airport will remain closed until December 15 because of the blockade by anti-government protesters, the airport's manager says. "The rally has caused massive damage to the country. We will try to open the airport as soon as possible," Serirat Prasutanond, acting head of Airports of Thailand said in a statement.

The closure refers to passenger flights. One cargo flight left on Tuesday and others were scheduled to follow, the first departures in a week.

If its this time and date now December 02, 2008 06:15pm where did you get that from before at 09.25pm.

Pad has agreed for meeting at 18.00 hrs with AOT and maybe sign and then leave the airport.

  14. Thai protesters to leave Bangkok airport

    From correspondents in Bangkok

    Agence France-Presse

    December 02, 2008 08:02pm (Sydney time)

ANTI-GOVERNMENT demonstrators have agreed to allow flights to resume from Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi international airport after a week-long blockade, a protest leader said. "As of this moment the PAD (People's Alliance for Democracy) has allowed flights to take off and land immediately, both passenger and cargo flights," senior alliance member Somkiat Pongpaiboon said.

The PAD seized Suvarnabhumi and the smaller Don Mueang domestic airport last week, stranding 350,000 passengers and causing massive damage to the Thai economy.

If this is a joke, it's not funny.

And it's very doubtful that anyone's leaving "immediately". :o

    Any truth in this
