  1. at Bangkok bank if you don't have a work visa they require a fixed deposit as a guarantee, this fixed account is "on hold" and you cannot withdraw from it or even change it to a promotional fixed account with out permission from head office. usually the guarantee amount is the same as the credit card limit. I keep a fixed 800k bt a/c which is not touched, a fixed 200kbt  a/c for the credit card guarantee and also a living money a/c so if immigration asks for evidence of money in, money out , I just show this living money a/c, never been a problem.

  2. My understanding is that a group of people (usually well known to each other)agree to put a certain amount of cash into the share, they then call for bids of how much interest or fixed amount is to be put back by the one who bids the highest. A new bid is called each month. the last person collects the most interest, each person collects a part of the interest according to which hand in the share they win with their bid.

  3. Most smaller apartments charge a slightly higher rate than the government rate but this covers electricity use in the common areas such as stair and hall ways, car parking area and it also helps cover the expense of replacement globes and repairs. Big condo buildings have a services fee each month that covers these costs.

  4. I've been waiting for 5 weeks for the new box and still don't have it, I was promised it would be delivered in one week, ha ha. Email from the call centre just states that it is in the process of being delivered. I don't know why they don't just tell you the truth and the customers would not get so upset. At least I glad to see that some of you have received a new box so I'll wait in hope!

  5. Dont do it. I have 25years expirience in the restaurant trade, just retired last year. It has to be one of the hardest businesses to succeed in at the moment. We hhave a couple of buildings in great location but I would not consider opening a restaurant in the current economic climate, better just collecting the rent and let others do the long hours. No experience in hospiitality is a no no to start in this tough business.
