Maybe they searched you thoroughly, in light of the recent protests, and not really to extort you?
Hard to say.

I'll be dead, so I won't be saying ANYTHING. Capiche???
Guess Telling you to drop dead would be kind of redundant wouldn't it?

Terrible advice. I refuse to learn a language which consists of a tonal collection of grunts, squeals and squeaks.
The Thai language sounds like a gaggle of donkeys on amphetamines. Thailand's time as a cheap retirement paradise for expats, has run its course. After five miserable years here, I am setting my sights on the Philippines.they, at least, speak HUMAN English. I am not at all charmed by Thailand anymore.
Can't wait to hear what you'll say about the Philippines after another 5 years.

Any "decent Company will take out social security up to 750 Bht per month.
The Employer will match the contribution which then entitles you to a SS card & can be used at any Government hospital.
Please do not underestimate them, eg, Rama Thipodi is a very good teaching hospital
Slight correction - the hospitals of choice to avail via SS are not only limited to government hospitals,
but certain private hospitals as well.
Mine used to be Mission Hospital for the longest time.

Unfortunate, but very idiotic to sign for & open a parcel that's not addressed to you,
especially if you have no idea what is inside - former boss or not.
She could have just rejected the parcel and refused to sign.
Very convenient that the BiB showed up right after - definitely more to this story.

That could change if they were allowed to start as one-man-bands. Some could lead to start-ups, then incubators, then to lucrative businesses hiring Thais. It's a real opportunity to bring some entrepeneurship into the country. Look at Singapore and the start-up scene there (although lately the Singapore Core has put a damper on that).
Well, there already is a path in place for that via BOI
At the end of the day, it's all about the money, however you slice it.

This dog & pony show is all a facade.
TAT knows they are in the crapper, but better to smile and pretend that everything is OK.- 1

Apart from the question being poorly worded, it is also the wrong question to ask.
Most digital nomads contribute nothing to the local economy, do not lead to job creation etc. -
so no, not good for Thailand in that regard.
The more important question to ask is whether Thailand is suitable/good for digital nomads. In the current climate, also no, largely due to the ridiculous visa requirements in place.

Perfect photo OP - now how about catching the big fish?
Oh wait, that's too hard.

No tourist in their right mind would even consider travelling to Thailand,
with these ridiculous requirements in place - especially the 500k balance.

Income from Youtube streams goes to your bank account -> whichever country that bank account is based in,
you pay IT in that country - simple as that.
A Thai WP is only necessary if you're employed by a Thai company -either self-owned or belonging to a third-party.
Based on the above, there is no local income to declare - you are however, free to declare it - use your own best judgement.

So the 'Smart Visa' is for stupid people - TiT
They may as well call it 'Sick Buffalo Visa'

Don't forget the salary requirement.
I think it is 50,000 THB/month, if married to a Thai and 80,000 THB/month, if not. -

Absolute cluster**** of a situation.
Ultimately doesn't end well for either party.
Demanding farang who went on an online rant about a resort, and got arrested for it.
Especially doesn't look good for the resort -high likelihood that potential customers will now be scared away,
fearing reprisals for raising any complaints

Again, no judgement here, but it ultimately comes down to human stupidity,
& Somchai monkey-brain mentality.
Autopsy should confirm whether under the influence of alcohol or not. -
Don't think the initial 3 month non-B "visa" can be cancelled.
Only "extensions of stay" can be cancelled.
The only way to 'cancel' it is to leave/enter Thailand, because it is a single-entry.Suggest to make use of it - you're good until end November, so why rock the boat?
Maybe it is possible to convert it to non-O too - best to ask the experts. -

Bravo - it is the brain-dead wife-beater Somchai being put down for once.
Not trying to judge, without knowing the whole story,
but I think we all know who was/is the real victim.

The hospital is where you should be.

@TAT - come back to reality
No genuine tourist will jump through your idiotic and convoluted hoops.
Offer to subsidize at least 50% of the hotel costs during the 15-day quarantine for all tourists,as a start.

A Suan Dusit poll asked Thais last week what they are most stressed about.
1. How expensive everything is : 67.76%
Asked what was their answer to all this stress the replies were:
1. Go shopping: 51.47%
A total of 1,358 Thais were asked their opinions in the poll from Wednesday to Friday of last week, said Sanook.
So your solution to manage the stress of everything being expensive,
is to go shopping and buy it anyways?

Governments the world over are equally idiotic when it comes to bail-outs - especially for airlines and banks.
Just saw this a couple of days ago - this is what should have really been done with Thai:
Are employers obligated to provide health insurance to expats?

Best check with your employer - there should be a list of hospitals covered under the SS scheme
