Terrible advice. I refuse to learn a language which consists of a tonal collection of grunts, squeals and squeaks.

The Thai language sounds like a gaggle of donkeys on amphetamines. Thailand's time as a cheap retirement paradise for expats, has run its course. After five miserable years here, I am setting my sights on the Philippines.they, at least, speak HUMAN English. I am not at all charmed by Thailand anymore.

Can't wait to hear what you'll say about the Philippines after another 5 years.

Any "decent Company will take out social security up to 750 Bht per month.

The Employer will match the contribution which then entitles you to a SS card & can be used at any Government hospital.

Please do not underestimate them, eg, Rama Thipodi is a very good teaching hospital

Slight correction - the hospitals of choice to avail via SS are not only limited to government hospitals,

but certain private hospitals as well.

Mine used to be Mission Hospital for the longest time.

That could change if they were allowed to start as one-man-bands. Some could lead to start-ups, then incubators, then to lucrative businesses hiring Thais. It's a real opportunity to bring some entrepeneurship into the country. Look at Singapore and the start-up scene there (although lately the Singapore Core has put a damper on that).

Well, there already is a path in place for that via BOI

At the end of the day, it's all about the money, however you slice it.

  4. Apart from the question being poorly worded, it is also the wrong question to ask.

Most digital nomads contribute nothing to the local economy, do not lead to job creation etc. -

so no, not good for Thailand in that regard.

The more important question to ask is whether Thailand is suitable/good for digital nomads.

In the current climate, also no, largely due to the ridiculous visa requirements in place.

A Suan Dusit poll asked Thais last week what they are most stressed about.

    1. How expensive everything is : 67.76%

Asked what was their answer to all this stress the replies were:

    1. Go shopping: 51.47%

A total of 1,358 Thais were asked their opinions in the poll from Wednesday to Friday of last week, said Sanook.

So your solution to manage the stress of everything being expensive,

is to go shopping and buy it anyways?
