Basically, the northern provinces sympathetic to the democracy movement.

    And who can blame them.

The poor vote, if it were allowed, would keep the gap between rich and poor in check naturally by favouring poor-friendly policies such as health care, etc.

Unfortunately, like North Korea, the military has run of the country.

  2. I don't think the yellows or multis are going to be much into camping out on the street. Yes I remember the airport incident, but not quite the same thing.

right...it was more of an indoor event... :)

I'm still wondering why the reds didn't just take the airport like the yellows did.

It worked so well for the yellows.

And if they got forced out, they could've correctly accused the military of a double standard.

  3. Pattaya could be surrounded by a circle of hellfire with the narrowest path of entry that could close at any time, and it wouldn't stop some guys from going there.

  4. Erm, but what happens if you die testing the stuff? :)

By testing it, you mean taking a bite or drink of something served to me by any given person, that may or may not be poisoned?

Then maybe so, maybe not, depending on how deadly it is, how concentrated it is, and how much is consumed.

The less of it I consume, if any at all, the better the chances of surviving it.

The more I know about this whole issue, the better I can keep myself safe from it.

I want to know what poison it is, what it tastes like, what it smells like, what it can be added to, how available it is, who's using it to poison dogs, ... everything that I can know in order to protect myself from it.

I don't understand why people are arguing with me about this.

  5. I'm sorry for your their loss, this sort of thing happens all to frequently and for no apparent reason other than to cause the owners some grief. Not to detract from your post but do you know what poison it was, the locals everywhere here seem to have easy access to a product that's readily available.

I agree. Find out what kind of poison it is, what it tastes like.

Surely you didn't mean to say that.

    Surely I did.

Maybe you don't understand my purpose.

If I'm offered food or drink by somebody, and it tastes off (like something has been added), then I'd know not to consume any more.

This day and age, where people are getting drugged and robbed, it's only a matter of time before it's poison to stop the witness from ever talking.

The more I know about poison, especially that available (and being used now), the better I can protect myself from it.

Who knows, maybe this dog poisoning was just a test, a trial run to see if it would work on people.

It's scary that some people, sick as they are, have access and the method to poison innocent animals and/or people.

The more you learn about their method, the better chance of finding them.

  7. Its Pattaya. Its going to happen. If you think its not going to happen then you are in denial. I personally would not have a young family within a hundred miles of this place.

    Thank you.

I thought I would have to be the first to post this opinion.

I like to go to Pattaya, as it's a great place for ME to have a good time with a consenting ADULT woman.

But if I had a young daughter, Pattaya is probably the last place in the world I'd want to raise a family.

  8. I'm going to call this as I see it with the three possibilities and associate a probability to each one, with the given reason:

    1. (99.9% Probability) She's lying, making the story up.

    - gambling, drugs, or has spent or used the money in some other way

    - very poor reasoning, that she wouldn't lie to another Thai lady about this (maybe she lied to her because she knew your gf would tell you)

    2. (0.0999999%) She was drugged and robbed.

    - unlikely because of the quickness, in public place, etc.

    - also extremely unlikely because would be coherent to give out pin number for bank card

    3. (0.0000001%) Astronomical odds against this story of 'hypnosis' being true.

    - hypnosis takes a very controlled environment of a person who cooperates and wants it to happen

    - even if a person allows themselves to be hypnotized, they won't do something that they don't want to (if this were the case, there would be hypnotists robbing people everywhere)

Sorry, but I have to call dumbass on the OP.

  9. Without a receipt, how about telling us how you sorted it out very quickly.

Hello Tropo, yes basically there are 4 or 5 different girls serving at the place and the one that called us back was not the same girl that took the money, as soon as the original girl realized what was going on she told her friend and they all apologized, easy peasy :)

hmm...This sounds like a regular operation.

First they claim you haven't paid your bill.

If you argue that you paid (which they know you did), then they let you go.

If you just pay it again because you don't want an argument, then it's a bonus in their pockets.

This is enough for me to avoid the place just out of principle.

  10. I have to give kudos to the Pattaya BiB on this one, when it could have been so simple to make a report and call it a night.

This begs the question of how remarkably stupid a person could be to not be able to keep a story straight about a mugging.

As remarkably stupid as that is, it doesn't come anywhere near the incredible stupidity of the guy who sent her the money.

  11. I had plans to retire in Thailand some years ago, but opted instead to go to China. That was one of the smarter moves I made in my life. While no place is without it's faults, at least China is still a bargin where gangbangers and serious crime is not put up with. And not to mention that foriegners are very well liked and treated.

Retired to China where gangbangers are not put up with. :)

This is obviously a bullshit post by someone who thinks he's pretty funny.

  12. Some of those guys sell gasoline (petrol) for motorbikes.

Don't know but probably siphened (stolen) and cheaper than at the pumps to be sure.

They sell them in glass bottles that they have usually concealed.

I'm guessing this was their proposition to you.

Their petrol is more expensive than the pumps ,and that's how they make a profit .

    Hmm...I stand corrected I guess.

I just assumed it was cheaper, because who the hel_l would buy it from them if it's cheaper at the pumps?

Anyway, I still think this might have been the proposition.

  13. I don't think the baht bus driver was in on it.

In my experience, if a group of Thais are on the bus and they want to go to a certain location, they negotiate with the driver and the driver goes, not caring about the foreign passenger.

This is the basic type of "screw the foreigner" attitude they have as in "if you're not going this way, you can push the button, get off and pay the fare."

The fact that you were on the baht bus before the "family" is also another indication that the driver wasn't in on it.

  14. Emails are all fine, official looking and anonymous but ultimately deniable in a court.

What court are you talking about?

Not only are e-mails as admissable as any docements, they also have a definite "time stamp" and cannot be altered upon reception or remittance.

E-mails have been used in every kind of court, in every kind of case.

Not only are e-mails admissable, other thinhs like personal website (myspace, facebook) and even entries in chatrooms and discussion forums.

  15. "The less they want to get soaked, the more fun it is to completely soak them."

    -- Samuel Clemens (1878)

I'm going to organize some people to go door to door.

If a farang answers the door, he'll get completely soaked with a pail of water.

I also know other people who are going to go "bar soaking" at night, basically getting all the patrons soaked in a given number of chosen beer bars.

There will also be a "night watch" on all entrances to walking street, including the sois.

This Songkran will be much more intense than previous ones.

    It's not a game anymore. It's a mission.

If you are a farang in Pattaya, you will get soaked.

    No more Mr. dry guy.

You'll be singing the blues to put the "song" into songkran.
