what is going on, everytime I come in to thai visa to read anything I am taken to the end of the page instead of the start, I realize thais are hopeless at websites etc but this is rediculous unless you are actually using thais to work on the pages

We all are where we are and what we are merely through an accident of birth. One person is born female in a poorly developed, corrupt and economically disadvantaged land, that happens to have national borders. I guess the liberal in me more easily feels compassion for the young woman who materialized in a poor, misogynistic, dangerous nation....and must literally fight for her life and safety, plus get some luck along the way, just to survive unscathed into adulthood. I naturally feel more compassion for her than the male born in a G7  nation who goofed off in school, never amounted to much of anything, but through that sheer accident of birth can  live a comfortable life, bark about  immigrants---legal or illegal---ruining his culture, and then do all his whining while enjoying life in a distant land like Thailand, where he stands out both from appearance and behavior.

 

Few of us are "self-made", though most of us like to think we are and end up where we are because of our great skill and discipline. That's a delusion. I admit I was born lucky...as a mostly white male in a major developed nation, of highly intelligent parents of above average height, who were also quite athletic. Through my own accident of birth, I kind of naturally drifted to tops in my class, a multi-sport star, recruited to the best universities in the world, easily able to find interesting employment opportunities, with natural financial skills, all allowing me to become a multi-millionaire before age 30, and just grow my wealth from there. I know the data, so it is fair for me to guess I am not only more intelligent than most everyone on this site, but with the exception of maybe Danderman, the wealthiest by far, a multi-billionaire (at least in baht). Did I deserve any of this? Does it make me better than all of you? Hardly. Just dumb luck and a win in the Birth Lottery. At least I admit it is mostly dumb luck.

 

The understanding of my own dumb luck in regards to the time, place and manner I materialized in this Universe has given me a similar understanding of the trials and tribulations of folks born less lucky...whether a female in a savage land or a below average sycophant of 45/47 in a land where failure is almost an impossibility---yet so many of his cult are failures.

 

Now all of the above does not put me in favor of unfettered immigration; it just allows me to have a little more compassion. For example, a person who was dragged into the US as an infant or young child by an illegal migrant, but a child who has grown up in the only land they really ever knew, and who is a contributing, tax paying member of US society, ought to be given special consideration when deciding what happens in 45/47's draconian deportation scheme. Such people were given the name "Dreamers" under a previous Administration, but under 45/47, all they will get is a nightmare---forced out to a land they never knew.

 

I see many here applauding this deportation scheme, usually tossing in the straw man argument of "rapists and murderers", ignoring the reality that even illegal migrants commit far less violent crime than native born citizens. I doubt many illegals stormed the Capitol on 6 January 2021, but those terrorists are going to be pardoned by the POTUS elect---even the ones who shat on the Capitol floor and rubbed their own feces on the wall, as well as those who used American flags to beat law enforcement officers. Dreamers, OTOH, are being shown the door.

 

So all of you cultists can continue to cheer these actions and pat yourself on the back for all of your 'great achievements' in life, ignoring the reality that few of you achieved anything on your own, and are merely lucky to have been born where better people than you set the table for your cushy life, whether you're still at home or enjoying your dumb luck by being able to reside in an alien culture far away, probably irritating a good many of the native born Thai people merely by your presence.

 

There is, or should be, a middle road. Nobody can correct for the inherent unfairness of the Universe, but a little compassion and understanding can go a long way. Maybe part of that middle road is letting Dreamers remain, and also bolstering the system that hears petitions for asylum (which is not part of the deportation plan and border enhancement plan). Even illegal immigration has been a net benefit to the US, and migrants have been the lifeblood of the US for generations (consider Musk, Jobs---born of a Syrian dad, Grove, and half the CEOs of hi tech).

 

Then again, all of you can just say kick the (insert a racist epithet of your choosing here) out, and let all of you enjoy what you think you deserve, forgetting you are merely the recipient of dumb luck in an unfair and random Universe.

so going by your rhetoric when people are born to poor parents they have the right to steal from rich people because its not their fault they were not born to rich parents and they need to be able to live like rich people. You are trying to make an absolute crazy claim  but expected from the left, no one has any rights granted to them for being born in various countries, what they do have is the right tom try to improve their lot in life as long as it is done legally. Becoming an illegal immigrant is not included in this otherwise we would see countries all around the world being taken over  which we have seen happening until the countries concerned put a stop to it. 

Every country has a right to defend its borders to protect its citizens especially when the ones coming in illegally are responsible for a lot of the crime committed as well as a lot of unsavoury things happening on the streets. For the left trying to tug on peoples heart strings to push their BS such as what you have sprooked is common and part of their play book but it doesnt hold water, you want to emmigrate then do it legally.

unfortunately thais simply dont care, they have no problen destroying their habitat for financial gains for themselves, they totally ignore any protected areas and do as they please, animals come last on anything thais want to do. The government does very little to help, they do not get patrols going to ensure they are protected because they do not want to spend the momey, they do not enforce protected areas stopping illegal netting etc, all they care about is how much money they can make from it all, you only have to look at how pathetic the police force is not doing their jobs to realize that nothing gets done in regard to protecting animals and when they do catch someone they are let off with a small fine and a slap on the wrist or if rich nothing happens to them.

I have suffered from food poisoning a few times while travelling around Thailand, little country places have caused the worst cases while city shops havent been as bad while street food can be a gamble,  We usually only eat at places where locals tend to eat when travelling although sometimes you dont have a lot of options. From what I have noticed it would appear that the quality of the ingredients has dropped and the way it is stored but there are some shops where they do not like the idea of throwing away older or suspect food past the use by. While the majority of shops do the right thing some do not want to lose out on any profit but for me the cases have not increased greatly

This just shows how far dems will go to push their BS especially when things do not go their way, out comes the scare campaign because they cannot accept they lost, truly pathetic but typical of dem supporters

to update, I have contacted Wise and they have said the Australian banks are not updating the BSB numbers  fast enough to have my new BSB in their lists of accepted bsb's, my bank is going to give me a call next week to talk to me about it so will update again after I have spoken to my bank. I did get notified 2 months ago but it was after my transfer so I dint worry about it, this week I checked before my transfer and was given the new details which would mean my bank is a few months behind in updating bsb's which is a bit strange. Emails from Wise to my queries are being sent from EMAIL REMOVED so it does look genuine

Did my usual transfer from my Australian bank through Wise and Wise have issued me with a new account to deposit to, they have given me a new BSB as well as a new account number to use that they say is set for me only as the one I have been using for them for many years now will no longer be valid.

I tried to use the new details with my bank to do the transfer and it set off a major alarm as fraud and my bank rejected the transfer making me use my old details  but Wise informed that after this payment I can no longer use those details as they are shutting down that account.

I messaged my bank as well as Wise, my bank is saying that as far as they are concerned it is fraud, Wise says they are fine, problem now is I am unable to transfer money to Thailand till it is sorted.

Have any other Wise users in here been given new deatails regarding where they send their money to so that it can be  transfered to Thailand by Wise, I do not want to use a fraudulent account to send my money to so need to see if any other users from Australia have been told to change their account details for Wise Australia pty ltd that they transfer to from their aussie bank

just have to learn to accept that our US members are extremely one eyed in regards to politics, the truth doesnt matter to them as long as they can whinge about it. I love jumping in and causing havoc by cheering on trump, the dems simply lose it totally and of course the opposite happens as well. Politics is one of the biggest causes of disagreements when you have people that refuse to accept that they are ignoring several truths about their own candidate or making up BS about the opposition, its all one huge laugh at their one eyed stupidity so you need to just accept that these people will always vent their political views no matter what happens

a few years ago I bought a pair of boots off ebay from the UK, they were listed at $30. I also got a note from customs they were holding them but when I queried it I was told that who ever was in charge of the customs office decided the boots were worth more than $30, in fact 3 times more so wanted around 1500 baht import duties. I sent copies of the sales add plus the receipt but they refused to change their mind. It was a big rip off scheme customs were running deciding how much goods were worth and not what they were being sold for so they could pocket the "extra duties" they charged, no receipt was issued so it went straight in their pocket, dont know if this is the case with your watch but there are possibilities they want something extra

I cancelled an order yesterday, seller would not answer my query(self delivery) on it plus had not updated the notification for 3 days so was still showing to be packed, went straight through and was showing refund being processed within a very short time, was surprized it happened so fast.

I sent stuff to the US x 2 and it went through a few different countries before arriving 5 weeks later(used to be inside 6 days prior to covid), the box was fairly trashed and there was broken pieces, ems did nothing and wouldnt answer emails etc. It has really done doen hill and looks like it was taken over and they are trying to make bigger profits by cutting quality service and using cheaper carriers. If I have to send overseas now I use dragon couriers, they are brilliant but a bit more costly.

sorry but you are wrong, where I grew up summer temps were in the high 90's/low 100's(F), I would ride over 3 miles to get to school, some friends rode even further, weekends we would ride  10 to 15 miles to go fishing or out to the bush, city centre was 4 plus miles, we would even walk it at times or take the bus, winters were extreme cold temps with pouring rain/frosts and we still did it. Thai kids are basically lazy, they do not want to do anything too physical plus they want to be able to do what ever they like. Thai parenting is a big part of the problem as many thai parents dont really care what their kids do, there was no way our parents would let us ride motor bikes in the streets/to school etc let alone be out at all hours of the night like here. 

Parenting needs a huge upgrade in Thailand as a lot of what happens is due to it being extremely poor which is a part of being a third world country, education levels are very bad and I cannot see any of it improving any time soon. Thailand for me is a great place to live but I accept the faults and live my own life away from all the BS and will not candy coat what happens here, Unfortunately these 2 deaths will do nothing to improve anything nor will the drunk drivers action as the police simply refuse to do their work properly and patrol roads etc because they get no extra financial reward for it, they even refuse to come out to do their jobs of a night unless you pay them, policing & parenting have a lot to answer for here.
