Thanks for all your replies. I think paying to get my money back would cost more than it's worth. I have learned my lesson and need to move on in life. Hopefully one day, if Karma is real it will come back to get him.
Have a good night everyone!

Very likely the DC owner's wife.
He was married with a Thai at the time, now they are not together and he's married a Westerner

On the paper work was only my name, it didn't mention I was direct etc. I think if I made a case of it it would cost more than the money I would get back so not worth it.
I just want to know now, if I think they may be doing something illegal with visa, work permit etc. Could I contact immigration and what should I say? I could contact the police also but don't know what they could do...

I put in some money into a scuba diving company about 4 - 5 years ago here in Thailand and I got my name on the company papers as a part-owner. A couple of years later the owner stopped contacting me, when I tried to get my money back he kept on making the same excuse 'we don't have anything to give you at the moment'. I checked with a lawyer and found the company I have my name on closed down (they owner never told me this) but he then started up a company with nearly exactly the same name and doing exactly the same trade, just this time without my name on the papers. He now never speaks to me, I contact his wife asking can he call me and she makes pathetic excuses.
Recently I saw they posted on their Facebook advertising a job offering 30,000 THB and month and they have a speed boat.... which really made my blood boil. I put in over 200,000 THB to the company and would be happy to get even 50,000 back. I reality I don't see a easy way to get my money back with a lawyer but I still contact them asking for them personally to give me something back. I really know that they have no intention to give me anything so want to know other options I could do....
I'm sure they have probably something dodgy/illegal going on with their company in terms of staff, work permits, visas or something things like that... so am thinking of asking them once more and telling them that I will be contacting immigration etc. if they ignore me again. Please could I ask for your advice on what things I could do/who I could contact to investigate into this company and things I could do to make trouble for them in case the are doing anything illegal? In case this helps: the owner is not Thai, he's British and his wife is a Westerner also.
I know I was stupid to trust these people and I've learnt my lesson so please don't call me an idiot etc., as I already know I am - I just am looking for some advise. I was only 20 years old when I put this money in to their company, the money was also given to me in a will which makes me feel even worse.

If you have a full (not provisional),licence you can convert with minimal testing (eyesight and reaction ) they will give you a licence for motorcycle only if you UK licence has that entitlement if not you have to do the full test.
Motorcycle and car licenses are 2 physically separate pieces of plastic. Your can have one without the other.
Thanks for your reply! I have a full UK driving licence for cars. So does this mean I can take the minimal test to get a car licence?
Also, is there somewhere you recommend in Bangkok? (I live in Sukhumvit area)

A someone told me it's possible if I have a UK licence I can convert it to a Thai licence, but then others have said you have to take the full test again? Can someone help answer this for me?
Many thanks!

First of all, sorry If this has already been asked. I'm looking to buy a condo at the start of next year so now am doing my research and have some questions on buying a condo if you're a foreigner.
- Will I need a Thai to own some of my condo also? or is there a way I can own 100%?- Can I make a down-payment at the start, then pay some money every month?- Is there a bank that helps with loaning money?- Are mortgages possible? if so, is there anything I should know?in case this helps, here some information about me:- I've been working in Bangkok for 3 years for a Thai company- I have a full work contract- I have a visa and work-permit- I have 2 Thai bank accounts (SCB & BKK Bank)- I have Thai friends/work colleges who could help with having there name as a part owner if neededAny help would be much appreciated, thanks! -
Just to make things clear, all important supporting documents like work contract, letters, etc., are in English. Just a few other documents that I thought may be useful to submit are in Thai;

Thanks for your feedback, I really appreciate it.
Documents like employer letter, bank info, sponsor letter, and most things are in English. It's just a few things in Thai like her son's birth certificate, ownership of her apartment, families ID cards.
Is her son travelling on the proposed trip, or is she using her son as a reason to return?
Why is she intending to submit copies of the families ID cards?
She's using her son for one of the reasons to return.
Not sure about her families ID and what they might help for, but we've got them just in case.

Only what happened to me, but both my partners chanote and tabien ban were not translated and there were no issues.
As theoldgit says, anecdotal evidence shows that official documents, such as those you mention, have been acceptable without translations.
For others, such as employers letters, I strongly recommend getting a translation.
Officially, this can be into English or Welsh, but I doubt that many translation bureaux in Thailand could translate them into Welsh; even if there is a Welsh speaker stationed in the entry clearance office at Bangkok! So I recommend English.

I would suggest you hire an agent if you need help with such basic questions

Applying for a UK visa for my girlfriend to come visit England with me. She has some things to submit like proof of owning an apartment but it's in Thai. Along with some other things like some of her families information.
Is it ok that some documents are in Thai? or does EVERYTHING need to be in English?
Many thanks!

The girlfriend and I plan to visit England in June, just wondering when we should apply for the visa? My friend said you should apply no earlier than 3 months before, is this about right?
Any info would help!
Thanks

The scientist that managed to land a probe on a comet has tattoo's; does this mean he doesn't have a 'working brain'?
Does it effect you in any way? Really, worry about yourself and stop giving a damn about what other people choose to do.

of course

It's a sad life if 'ideal happiness' is watching the World Cup!
Do you get invited to parties much?

Abandoned, Derelict, Decaying Locations Around Thailand

A very cool thread! When I lived in England as a teen we would go urban exploring to abandoned sites; one place was an old location that was something to do with the military I heard, it was surrounded by a big fence and inside was many different buildings. There was security always patrolling there and we went one night to sneak in, I got loads of adrenaline sneaking around trying to be stealth, at one point we thought we saw a light shining through the window at us and s*** ourselves! Was so fun!!!
Is there any places in or near Bangkok that you recommend are fun to go into
