I sometimes give food and small change to a homeless person near where I live. Ive noticed he has some health issues and needs to see a dr. I know that anyone working for a thai govt dept or a private business can join the govts social sec system and nominate a hospital etc and get access to medical treatment. What about homeless people or people who are self employed. Can they register at a local hospital if they have a Thai id card? Is there a welfare department in each city/town to help any homeless people? I want to help this guy. thanks

Ive owned a higher end car for around 4 years now and recently was rear ended by a pickup. Insurance is paying for everything. Ive been taking it to the same dealership for oil changes etc where I actually purchased the car. Ive always found the young thai guy there a bit assertive/ aggressive. He reminds me of a Phuket taxi driver personality. When I dropped off the car and asked a question he raised his voice at me very loud asking me 'why are you asking that question'. He forgot that we discussed the issue last week in Line. I raised my voice back at him as loud and he backed down So he has sent my car to a subcontractor in the same city because the dealership cant do the work. I asked the other day if I can go there and have a quick look at the progress. No he said, cant do that. Have to wait for it to come back. Im sure its just a normal smash repairs where anyone can take their car. Can I assume that I dont have to be worried about that smash repair shop taking apart the engine and other parts and swapping it for other parts? Surely that would not happen right? At the end of the day the dealership is accountable. An insurance company is involved. Therefore one would hope that no dodgy things are going to happen to my car. If you have ever had your car in a smash repairs shop in Thailand please make a comment. thanks

You are misinformed about GSB pink bank. Actually my wifes friend works in the local branch and we think she has high integrity. She told us that many VERY wealthy people in Thailand trust GSB and put massive deposits with them. This is not some story Im making up. Agriculture bank is also a govt bank. I have money with them as well. Cant go wrong with the government banks. I dont know about the 2nd tier retail banks.

No disrespect intended but do you realise that they are just fooling their customers with the gimmick offers. They hold your huge 5milliion deposit with great benefit knowing that anyone who actually does this has huge risk to themselves in the event of the bank going bankrupt. The thai govt only guarantees 1 million per bank per customer in the event of bank default. Smart and wealthy thai people hold such money with the gsb bank (pink bank) bc they know the govt owns it and unlimited guarantee of deposits. Krungsri knows that its customers buy business/first class tickets anyways and dont need the free gimmick of getting into the lounge bc its included anyway when one travels in the high class seats. Personally I have accounts at most of the banks and balance never goes above 1mill bc the govt doesnt guarantee it.

Years ago I didnt have a Work permit and gave a 100k deposit at KTB and obtained a KTC credit card. I still have it and find the app ok. Have used it overseas. Then a few yrs ago I got the WP and high salary. Got a Citibank card with 500k limit. Now its UOB I was thinking of applying again for another KTC to subsequently replace the first one and get my deposit back. i.e. cancel the old card and get a normal credit card with them with no depsosit. Or do you think I should apply at another bank and have 3 credit cards? I now have the SCB planet travel card and about to get the Kasikorn journey travel card (debit cards). Ktb travel cards are not continuing for farang after June. What credit cards do you have with Thai banks and how do you rate it? thanks

scb plannet is open to farang. kbank youtrip is not possible journey kbank. I dont know about that one. citibank global wallet. UOB is now citibank. I asked UOB. they dont have a travel card krungthai ktb closes their card to farang soon. they will not allow this new card for farang ttb all free. I have this blue card. I just opened the app on my phone and went to the card tab. I had to enable the overseas useage button and online spending button. I didnt know this was available so thanks for sending the image on this thread. But i cant see how to convert thai funds to euro for example. or maybe its just going to do it whatever country I go to? I also noticed I can use the app to turn on AND turn off the card to temporarily disable it. Quite useful if leaving the card in hotel safes etc.
