  1. This is something I have been wondering about but didn't find an answer to.

I will travel to Thailand on a 60 day tourist visum, but I know I will get the

extra month extention from immigration at 1900 baht.

I did this last year (because I had to, my residence in my home country was under

renoviation and couldn't be finished in time, so i had to stay one month longer.

At first a slight state of panic, but the extention at immigration went very smooth.

However I had a return ticket for a flight after my 2 month stay. So I went to the

office of Thai Airways and they gave me a later flight but charged me about 6000 baht

    for this.

Ok... I want to stay 90 days again next year (60 day tourist visa + 1 month extention)

I don't want to be pay the 6000 baht again for changing my return flight ticket so....

When I book a ticket, do I chose a return flight on the 60th day or the 90th, I mean

do I immediately book a flight with return date 90 days later ? WIll this give a problem

anywhere ? Because this is already a kind of "premeditated" extention with a return

fight indicating 90 days instead of 60 ...

    Thank you

    Ron

  2. AMAZING Thailand, once again in every aspect. They wine over the drop in tourism (now the number of Russian tourists has decreaded) and then do just about anything to chase other falang away ! Everything is more expensive, closing of Pattaya and Jomtien beaches on Wednesday, etc and now this silly rule. Agreed that people should be fined for littering. So why not put a small waste basket (probably costs the beach vendor about 5 a 10 baht) next to the chair people rent ? Tourists should take responsability as well. But what goes for tourists should be applied to Thais too who come down from the north to the beach every weekend.

**What is this about "cigarettes out?" People are not allowed to smoke on the beach no more ? :)

    What's next ? A national ban on belching and farting ? :)

  3. Same problem here !

    Since January 10th I didn't receive a single newsletter

    I didn't unsubscribe

    I didn't use a spam filter

    I didn't alter a thing

I re-subscribed again, got a confirmation email (!) but no newsletter.

Even got a reactivation email and 'reactivated' my account.

    No newsletter

I am always logged in to the site, so no problem there

I contacted my provider to see if they filtered thaivisa.com since Januari. No.

I then subscribed with a second account (gmail)

same thing.... confirmation email but no newsletter...

I've contacted the helpdesk and got replies but no reactivation works,

nor a second email address actually gets the newsletter...

That is very bizar and I repeat, I didn't alter a thing...

  4. Best news of the year ... yet :)

I am a Thailand traveller for 20 years and have met tourists from all countries, but none as rude as Russians. I stay in Jomtien at the end of Beach Road and all WAS quiet till the Russians stayed in the same building. I have personally SEEN them throw sigarette ends in the pool (not kidding), throwing empty bottles in it and making noise at 3 am. Never seen that in the building in all the years I have stayed there... In taxi's they "assume" all western people are Russian and talk to them in Russian.... ALWAYS loud, even rude to Thais (also seen and heard that on several occasions).

  5. Seems all of a sudden "inspector Clouseau" was put on the case, rounding up all usual and unusual suspects. To top it all: an authority figure assuring the media that the case will be cracked very soon ?

The nation and the rest of the (media) world holding their breath in anticipation. All of a sudden "shazam" because after "interrogation" (what's in a name) they not only get one, but three confessions. All of a sudden. The (supposed) killers: other "Falang" ? No. "Genuine working" Thai? No. Migrant workers ? Yes. Probably "best of three" worlds. But in reality chances are they are patsy's indeed. No matter that offcials "claimed" DNA matched. We'll probably never know for sure.Under torture of severe beatings a person will confess to anything and we ought to keep that into consideration.

  6. Let's see if I understand this correctly.

I own a condo in Jomtien. I arrive on a 30-day tourist via with my niece.

We don't move to another location and spend every night in the condo.

Do I have to ask immigration, upon arrival at the airport, while checking

passports etc to also stamp a photocopy of the same passport and carry

this stamped copy with me all the time ?

  7. .....WELCOME TO THAILAND........ !!!!!!

it's getting better and better........AMAZING THAILAND.......

I agree,,, it's getting worse... I have an apartment in Jomtien (near the end of Beach Rd) and chose this because of the more quiet location (compared to Pattaya). Fact is there is less traffic but because of that those mototbike hoodlums are using that because of less police and more less people. Reading this... ah well, it is a fact that a lot of foreigners are displaying their 'wealth' too obvious and that of course makes them an easy to spot. As you'll know it's like a Russian invasion out there, which started (and increased) 5 - 10 years ago. They should KNOW it's silly to wear jewelry and chances are the woman (at 3 am walking alone ?) was drunk, so maybe (!) not walking straight which is an even more easy target.

LOS became... Land Of Snatchers ?

  8. Another option is the long stay non immigrant O-A visa which requires being over age 50 and both a medical and police check and meeting financial conditions of 800k in bank account or 65k per month income (Thai baht figures) which can be in home country.

The most common retirement option is to extend your stay within Thailand on a yearly basis for 1,900 baht each year. This requires having 800k in Thai bank account or 65k income in an embassy letter and being here on a non immigrant visa entry (visa exept or tourist visa can be changed for 2,000 baht.

    Required Documents

A copy of bank statement showing a deposit of the amount equal to and not less than 800,000 Baht or an income certificate (an original copy) with a monthly income of not less than 65,000 Baht, or a deposit account plus a monthly income totalling not less than 800,000 Baht.

I have a bank account with the required amount, but I am in my home country, so how to obtain that official thai bank document ?
    When
do I have to show it to
    who
    ?
  9. What are you calling a retirement visa? If you are talking about a multi entry non immigrant O visa you can not stay longer than 90 days on any entry so you enter 90 days (regardless of returning for a new 90 days immediately). If you are talking about a long stay non immigrant O-A visa you receive a one year stay so you enter that on form. You are always free to leave at any time.

So best thing is to apply for a Non-Immigrant Visa “O-A” (Long Stay) visa

In that case no visa run after 90 days ? But "report" to immigration after 90 days ?

"Report" means going to immigration showing what please ?

They stamp your passport and that's it or they just check some kind of document ?

If they should ask me for a date of departure, I won't have a return ticket at that moment

    so I can't answer that.

  10. What are you calling a retirement visa? I want to stay in LOS for 9 months a year. Best thing in my situation (I THINK) is to get a retirement visa.

I understood that under this type of visa you can stay 90 days in a row but after that... every three months have to visa-run ? Another source said that you don't have to make a visa run on a retirement visum after 90 days, but report to the nearest immigration office to extend for another 3 months ? So no need for a visa run in that case ?

  11. Your excellent forum is incredible informative and I have learned

a lot about visa probs etc.

However there is one thing that I haven't been able to find.

Suppose I want to stay in Thailand for 9 months on a retirement visa

(I am over 50, have the required bank account, etc) .

When I want to stay for that long, it seems impossible to book a

return flight, meaning the return flight is 9 months later.

No travel agency in Belgium gives a return flight with such a late date.

I can book a single flight to enter the Kingdom and later buy a seperate

return flight in Thailand. Because I don't have the return flight when

entering the country... what do I fill in on the "departure" side of the

    immigration card ? I don't have that ticket yet ....so I can't enter a

departure date, nor a flight number.

I haven't been able to find this...
