  1. Good you told where you buy. There is a 160 click abs-variant btw. Only 125 Honda never have abs. Only dual channel is nmax, but only front abs is ok from what the "internet experts" say.
  2. I read that advice but never got so far out. Further from city is probably better. I also bought outside Patts. So they are not Mityon? How much do they charge for a 160 abs pcx 2023?
  3. After going to several Mityon in and out of Pattata lately, I couldn't find one PCX 160 abs close to 94k. I found some ADV at 108 which is not "so bad" I believe but only the "Captain America" paint job. The ADV is more expensive I believe, I didn't check that market. Mityon Theprasit will only sell PCX on installments but sell Click Cash. My experience is only Pattaya area but for me as a farlang there was a hefty farlang tax. If you order a special color or edition the response can vary from "ok, we can bring it in this afternoon" (which they did even though I didnt ask for it) to "pay one thousand deposit and wait 1-2 months and we'll see what we can do" ????
  4. I chose PCX over ADV because More comfortable arm position for longer rides (a little apehanger maybe ????). ADV is more "active motocross" ???? Lower to step into. If I get a top box I can not swing leg over back so easily. A little lower seat. Easier to flat foot at red light. But ADV has firmer suspension, which I liked. I would guess at 90+ kg ADV is better for an "emergency swerve" if needed. But maybe less comfortable for a longer ride. But PCX is also a good bike for everyone I guess. The 110+ kg guys on the highway all seem to ride Forza 350. Some sellers in Pattaya have click 160 as I remember. Click is easier to maneuver between cars in the city but will not "steamroll" by itself on the highway, you must be more active. If you choose pcx be sure to get the abs, ADV has only abs model I believe, and of course check it is 160 as you desire. Thanks for info on oil pump. Those are just my impressions as a beginner after renting. ... Looks is a matter of taste. But doesn't it look like they found out afterwards that blinkers and instrumentation must also be mounted on the ADV ????
  5. I am a novice so I listen to the videos. This guy is pretty funny if you want to go nerdy in it. His message is to use the front brake but "gradually", no panic squeeze (of course) (and combine with rear). (I believe the combo brakes will "think" for you as long as you don't lock the wheels.) https://youtu.be/YdrR9EFNdqo?si=UZ44GK6FGqN1DjAe I finally bought a pcx. All works well but over the weekend the shop called and said the certificate of residence wasn't valid. When I paid I repeatedly pointed out the certificate was for a bank and at that time they said no problem. This week I will help them and get a new one. (Don't ask me how much for the bike. ???? I looked around but still had to overpay.) The 125 click is probably the best and most suited for the trips you describe. Very nimble in traffic. Now I look for a place to wash the bike. Getting outside Pattaya in this season quickly makes it dirty. Will probably stop washing after a few months ???? Still also looking for some empty parking lot to practice slow speed maneuvering.
  6. I have never done this job. If I get a flat outside the city in Thailand I will turn on hazard lights and hope some Thai will stop and bring me to a bayang shop that knows how to deal with the situation, go pick up the bike or whatever. A cut can not be repaired. But the sets I have seen consist of a round "file" and a needle to insert a strip of lubricated rubber. (I saw pros doing similar in Cambodia, they also added heat with charcoal as I remember.) Then you fill air with either small bottles or compressor. But the problem is to find the hole. Probably only worth considering if you drive nighttime on sparesly trafficated roads, which I will not do. Or bring the gooey stuff and spray into the tire as an emergency and change tires later. The plugs last long even if it is not recommended to keep the tire. Even in the city could be a problem. If you have 3-400 meters to a tire shop. Maybe best to run the bike and walk on the side? Don't you ruin the rim if you ride it?
  7. I haven't found any Mityon selling crash cages. They have few accessories, but Honda seems good quality. I believe the cage will also make the bike slightly wider in traffic. If you practice narrow turns at low speed in an empty parking lot, you must check the surface carefully, imho. I literally got burnt not doing that in Cambodia many years ago when practicing narrow turns on a sandy spot on a 250 dirt bike. PCX is 130 kg but has a low COG so you can probably hold it from falling at low speed.
  8. OK. I sometimes practice narrow turns at low speed on empty parking lots. With my own bike the lean angle will increase and one day I will meet a spot of sand. So I thought of maybe buying a crash cage from Lazada.
  9. Will try that. What else do I get for 5 k/2 yrs? Anything connected to accidents?
  10. Yes. A sharp object will do its job on any tire. Some Mityon offer 2 yrs theft insurance @ 3000b. I consider having that. I put some more questions here. Mods will tell me if a new thread is needed. The top boxes make the bike wider and less agile in traffic. Some delivery guys have long narrow boxes. Maybe dangerous if it balances the frontwheel upwards and it loses traction. I don't want to do wheelies. ???? So probably safest to buy a standard, wide box and remove when not in use. The bike I rent now has nice wide angle mirrors attached to the regular mirrors. I couldn't find one bike shop in Pattaya carrying such mirrors. One shop guy even came to examine the mirrors of my rented bike. He had never seen such before! Thais probably do that on instinct ???? Will try Lazada. (Also saw red warning lights flashing inside the external mirrors of a taxi in Bangkok, when another vehicle was in the blind zone.)
  11. You are hopefullu right. In the city there is no problem. But a flat or break down along the highway is different. Some Thai will probably stop and give you a ride to a repair shop that send a Hilux to bring in the bike.
  12. I am a novice scooter renter considering to buy a PCX 160. If I start making short intercity trips, what would I need to know about emergency repair. What should you bring. Just the basics. I will probably buy a new bike and follow service program. 1. Should I bring the gooey stuff to inflate punctured tires to bring me to next "bayang"-shop? (tubeless tires) 2. Should I bring a tire plug kit and compressed air bottles. (Space for luggage will be limited in a top box.) But this will not work if there is a cut in the tire. I don't think the belt breaks. Too big for me to repair? Is there some organization you can call and they come and fix it? (And if Truemove doesn’t extend its graces to where you broke down, someone will probably give you a ride into town.) Some insurance is probably overkill? And related questions, Thank you.
  13. It looks like Thai people love the Filano for extra storage and not the Lead (37 ltr!). Both 125 cc. Maybe the extra storage gives a nice empty barrel VW sound when not loaded? Hasnt the PCX a little of that ???? ? But I like the PCX 160 abs I rent now.
  14. Thanks. I guess this will be the one to download, if and when the time to buy bike comes. Right now focus on having phone repaired. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&opi=89978449&url=https://thailand.acclime.com/wp-content/uploads/certificate-of-residence.pdf&ved=2ahUKEwjbv5ffkZyBAxVESmwGHVtDAVYQFnoECAwQAQ&usg=AOvVaw1ahCljQlD7s32RK0CFvmy_ Also see some blokes are adding hooks for hanging stuff you buy on the PCX, where the handlebar is affixed. PCX is bigger than the Click so you can still hang some stuff there. Checked out three big stores for helmets in Bangkok. 30.000k is a common price. Finally bought a Real at 2600. Barely fits under the seat of the PCX. Also learnt that for some brands the outer shell is the same for XL and XXL. Just less padding in the XXL ... Taxis in BKK drive after Google maps. On the way to a bike shop we got into a narrow path along a canal and could not pass over a small bridge. We backed all the way and managed to turn the car in the temple area we had just driven through. Then I realized my Google maps was set for motorbike ???? Fortunately Thai people are usually cool and jai-yen.
  15. Thanks. I will definitely check them out. I think I only need certificate of residence. If I go to BI in Jomtien I hope it is a simple process, 500B? I only show passport and fill out address? I think I can use the same certificate of residence for different motorbike shops? All upside down right now. Samsung original workshop should change phone battery that was swollen but they broke motherboard. Lots of discussions but it seems they will fix it without ME paying 12k baht and they lent me a phone. Lets hope no further surprises on Monday at pick up.
  16. I will sure check them out. There is also this in Sattahip, I believe https://maps.app.goo.gl/U6vh2ABQzEpKwdNu8
  17. Mityon Pattaya South wants 105 for red mat PCX 160 abs. Can pay cash. On Theprasit they only sell for installments but Click and Aerox they sell cash! Mityon is 11.5k more expensive than the Internet on the PCX but 1k cheaper on the ADV which they sell at 108. But their ADV:s are grey or painted "Captain America" (=come bomb me, if someone goes adventuring in Sahara ???? ) Not suitable for an "adventure" bike, imho. I don't know so much about bikes so I write here and hope those who owned bikes a while will comment. The 160 abs PCX I rent now is very nice. Lower leg lift to get on than ADV. Not so worn but the windscreen joint has been glued. First service Feb. 2022, 6000 km. I don't know what I should offer the rental shop for it, if they sell? Bikes don't fall in price so much so maybe better to buy new. But I don't know if a new farlang bike might attract attention and trouble? Strange some bikes only sell on installments. And it is not possible to order a special color or model from Bangkok. Maybe room for business. Manage installments and locate bikes in Bangkok and sell for order in Pattaya etc. Just transport them on a pick up. Any comments appreciated.
  18. I can sense how the energy of Isaan land makes its inhabitants one with its culture. ???? https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Feng_shui https://youtu.be/enKhkTmB0OQ?si=F8qXDKZCvLY_ET42&t=137
  19. This was a popular way in some European countries more than hundreds years ago. Unnoticeably small movements of the hands will make the twig point where the dowser decides. Jeff Bezos subscribes to this superstition https://www.amazon.com/Upgraded-Flexible-Rotation-Paranormal-Questions-Etc/dp/B0B19Z89Q8 Still state of the art in the empire (I am a fan of UK, though - or maybe therefore) https://www.theguardian.com/business/2017/nov/21/uk-water-firms-admit-using-divining-rods-to-find-leaks-and-pipes
  20. Good! How was the spot to drill decided? By Kau Chim?
  21. I have little experience but I assume the supermarket parkings have cctv and are comparatively safe, but outside that ... A wire through the opening for the face in a full face helmet and also around the bike frame would attract attention. Looks like we may have to do like the Thais and buy a Filano 125cc, or a PCI, ADV etc which I believe fit one full face helmet. Storage for a full face helmet is one of the few factors against a Click. A top box would solve that but would be nice to use for other stuff. I guess a larger top box also reduces mobility in traffic, passing between cars?
  22. I saw such helmets recently. The chin protection flips all the way back while the visor can still be in place. Seems well balanced also when they are flipped. I have had a few others where you can just flip up the visor and chin protection in one piece and then they often become front heavy and put load on your neck. There are also locks for helmets. I wonder if they act as a deterrent or a challenge to the thief ???? the simplest being a strap you insert into the buckle of the chin strap and lock somewhere on the bike.
  23. Yes. The two largest they had were Shark and NJC. Around 7k and 11k price as I remember. They say the helmets loosen up but they felt real tight. I seem to need around XXL depending on make. But for that money I wish to feel 100% good about fit and model. Lazada seems to have change of mind only for fashion and mother/baby products. Maybe Real at 2900 in another shop was best buy but still tight. I got a helmet but look to improve model.
  24. Scanned several shops in Pattaya today. Found a few large helmets but still tight. Will probably have to check mail order or go to BKK ???? Lazada har returns within 7 (14?) days, but when do I get the money back.
