  1. Failed democracy

    Failed education system

    Failed bureacracy

    Failed legal system

    Failed police system

    Failed town planning

    Failed environmental protection

    Corruption everywhere you look.

......but at least the country can boast the world's biggest willy, and that must be great for a nation so desperate for self esteem.

Well said! The Hub of Total Failure! This is what happens when a tin pot 3rd world dictatorship thinks it is actually a genuine country.

  2. Poor lady

I hope she will recover and get back her joy of life.

Her joy of life???? Are you for FuXXnMg REAL???? she was trying to burn herself alive , what joy in life did she have for crying out loud! Maybe she sets herself on fire everyday just for the fun of it..."Joy Of Life" unbelievable.

  3. Not the sharpest knife in the drawer then!

400K loan that she lets escalate to well over a million, so she now botches her suicide bid and ends up in one of the most expensive hospitals in the country - Has she got a good insurance policy as it would appear that she MIGHT be walking / wheeling herself out of there with a hell of a lot more debt than she went in with.

Thailand - The hub of failure?

I think at the end of the day Thailand has to be the HUB of HUBS!

  4. A Thai property developer has announced plans to build one of the smallest skyscrapers in the world in Bangkok.

Grand Canal Land Public Company Ltd. says the 3-floor building will stand 15 meters (28 feet) high and will be completed by 2069. (maybe - but they are not sure)

According to the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat, which maintains a database of the tallest skyscrapers, the Bangkok "Substandard Tower" will be the world's ninth smallest if it is built on schedule.(which it won't)

Grand Canal says the soaring building cost will offer space for an office, a luxury toilet with bum gun complete with lavatory observation deck with panoramic views of the luxury toilet and bum gun, the finest in Southeast Asia apart from Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, China, Korea and Malaysia.

The tallest building in the world is Dubai's Burj Khalifa, which has 163 floors and is 828 meters (2,717 feet) high and from the top floor will be able to see this new project with a pair of binoculars. (on a clear day)

So in essence we can expect a 3 storey town house made from sub standard materials finished probably 4 years past the projected completion date, and after all the backhanders costing more than the Dubai Burj Khalifa - Thailand, the hub of bullshit! Just out of curiosity how is the Ebola vaccine going?

  5. Maybe the OP should try liquid soap? On second thoughts he may claim it has been watered down.

The soap will only be watered down as much as the Junta demand! But I guess you will be happy with that. You will probably be happy washing yourself in dog piss as long as your masters tell you it is Palmolive!

  6. We all know that generally inflation causes a price rise, what I am on about is how the govt. control their "shopping basket" to try and tell Thais that the prices are under control, they are not! Market forces will determine the end price, whether today or in 5 years time, it will equalize.

  7. I think the OP is one of those sad people who keep the small pieces of soap when they are too small to use and stick them together to make a free bar of soap.

As I suspect you completely missed the entire point, Thais are constantly being told how the government are controlling inflation and keeping prices in order. If you actually tried to get your head around what I was actually saying, you would have seen that despite the bullshit from every continual government here, the poor people are getting screwed, mainly the farmers. Their purchasing power in relation to the work they do has been destroyed. But what the hell! Mama will still be controlled at about 5-10 Baht, the food of the poor working people.

Can you not really grasp the fact that despite the liars in government trying to tell everyone that the main provisions are kept affordable to the masses that the reality is, inflation here is totally out of control for the average farmer (or 75% of the population) The Diesel / Lam Yai price reversal should have given you a clue, the soap was a bit too sarcastic maybe.

So it is just another thinly disguised kick at Govt.

Sure inflation happens we all know that and I don't like having to pay more for things either but if you shop wisely, fresh markets for instance instead of supermarkets, you can still find good prices, for many people take their own produce to sell and they don't have the same overheads as the big stores.

Again you are another one that seems to miss the point, This is NOT the Government, this is an unelected military Junta that ousted a fairly elected government, so it really is not the same thing. At the end of the day if Thailand wants to be in the free market and trade internationally then these people cannot make some sort of false reality, market forces will overcome unless they keep fixing prices and manipulating everything. It may take 5 years, but balances will come into play. Look at their handling of the two Brits that were murdered, look at it! They seem to think that this is the acceptable way to behave, can you imagine this in an international scenario? They look exactly like the idiots that they are. They are a failed country. WHEN the tourists leave, when the Japanese leave, they will have diddly shit!

  8. Tuna is now 38 baht. O.o

Shop around mate, shop around! 32 Baht is still achievable. I know it seems a minor point but if you are being paid 250-300 Baht a day, 2 or 3 Baht makes a big difference, it is easy for some foreigners to sit there and Poo Poo 1 or 2 Baht here or there, but if you live on an extremely limited income it can make a hell of a difference.

  10. Jesus Christ these people become more retarded every day, they keep opening their stupid mouths every five minutes only to have to retract it 5 minutes later - Do they have a BRAIN that can actually think?

Do they really believe the crap that comes out of their mouths, they are so incredible it is beyond belief.

Can you imagine having a Brain Storming Session with the BIB.... it must be like trying to electrocuting 5 year olds!

Could you ever imagine the size of mouth these idiots would need to actually fit their foot in it?

Every decision these people make (not just the BIB) revolves around which way the wind blows...... As Bowie wrote, Wild Is The Wind!

  12. OP, I do agree with you.

    Everything shrinks.

    I was 1.82 in height when I was 35 yo........now at the age of 67 I'm about 1.80

Although, have to admit, on the other hand things do expand.

Take my beer belly for example, it turns round the corner and 2 minutes later I follow...........

Please be patient, it has just rained here and there now must be a thousand TOT "engineers" putting little pieces of tinfoil around cables trying to restore my internet connection, not easy to reply when TOT provide an ADSL over two tin cans and a piece of string!

My beer belly has expanded too over the years, but I am still worried that it might not be my hands getting bigger, as the soap is looking smaller and so is the old lad!

Maybe the belly expands with beer and reclaims "meat" from elsewhere!

  13. I returned to Thailand after working in China. I was doing a shop at Tesco and bought some soap, the usual brands, (Lux, Dettol or Protex - Not that Green Parrot Shit the wife seems to like) I didn't notice anything until we needed a new bar the other night.

The boxes are the same size, the price is the same but when you get the soap bar out of the box it appears to have shrunk by about 50%!

The damn things are not much bigger than the free ones from a hotel.

Looks like the usual Thai way of pretending that everything is just going on as is.

Like buying food at the foodstalls, the price goes up 5 Baht and the portions drop by 70%!

When I first came here I used a TUNA SCALE to compare things, a can of Tuna was 8 Baht, 1 pound got you (at times ) 80+ Baht, Diesel was 12 Baht. If you were a Lam Yai grower you could get 65 Baht a kilo for "A" Grade, with all of the chemicals and fertilizer free, they even sent the boys round to pick it for you

Now a kilo of Lam Yai will at best get you 19 Baht and you need to pay for everything and a litre of diesel is almost 2 kg of Lam Yai where before you could get 5 litres for 1 KG, and a can of bloody Tuna is now 35 Baht......wow how things have changed!

  14. This has been a farce since day one.

I know where you are coming from but if only that was the case - A "farce" is a comical display of buffoonery - this is a tragic disgusting disgrace full of lies, corruption. It is basically a crime on top of a terrible crime. It is an insult to the lives of the two Brits murdered here. These idiots think that everyone is going to just sit back and swallow their garbage. Thankfully for once it actually looks like enough people (THAI/ BURMESE/and others) have had the balls to stand up and say enough is enough. I truly hope for the parents and families of these two poor kids that the wrath and disgust of the international community and the locals will get the justice deserved.

  15. Well I will confess to an accident, about ten years ago. I was coming home from the city, stopped the car at a rather seedy joint, about 5 km from home. got pissed, and was leaving when 3 scrag ends of dog shit Thais wanted a fight. I took a monkey wrench out of the car and went back to greet them. To cut a long story short we left on friendly terms they having plied me with too much whisky.

I managed to get about 3 of the 5 km home before the car overturned into a ditch and I was left there upside down with the stereo blaring.

Anyway, someone called the cops, they heard the music and saw the wreck, I had cut my head open and was pissing blood, I remember two cops climbing up and trying to get me out and I remember telling them to get FCCCED etc. They actually just drove off and left me, they called one of those red pick ups that collect the dead, there was about 8 of those guys so there was not really an option, they simply dragged me out drove me home, the family cleaned my feet from the death truck, then the truck drove me 15k to hospital to get my head stitched and drove me home again, really brilliant blokes! and the cops too, they had me over a barrel if they wanted but they told the woman that phoned them that I hadn't hurt anyone or damaged anything except myself so basically they didn't care!

  16. Briandajew - as in all things ........

Meaning? you were a little vague and somewhat abrupt. I am only telling you my experience. I am probably what you would describe as a "functioning Alcoholic" I drink every night, no I do not get out of bed with the shakes and down a bottle of vodka just to get kick started.

I like a beer always will always have.

I work, sometimes an 18 hour or even a 36 hour shift, but when work is over I like a beer, 7 days a week 365 a year. I consider that after 4 or 5 bottles of Chang (due to alcohol tolerance) I can drive a car perfectly normal, I know people will differ on this but believe me if you drink everyday for more than 30 years it becomes the norm. I am not condoning it, I don't do it anymore, I don't go out drinking and driving. I have never done it for years, but if I had to drive after 5 beers there would not be a problem. I choose not to as I would not want to harm anyone, but this is mainly due to my poor eyesight these days especially at night. and woe betide anyone driving a car normally down a duel carriageway and hit some poor <deleted> Thai pissed out of their skulls on a motorbike with no lights coming down the fast lane in the wrong direction. But that is just me.

  17. I have drank most of my life, I was diagnosed with fatty infiltration of the liver more than 15 years ago. It can go two ways, but in Thailand you never know what to believe.

My problems escalated into Acute Pancreatitis, this is not nice, I was told never to drink again. I like a beer too much to comply with that so there was no way I was stopping having a beer. What I have found out over the last 15 years is that if you make sure you EAT some food before you drink you can almost eliminate the pancreas problems, I have lapsed on my own advice and have ended up in emergency about 6 times over the years all because I did not eat first.

Secondly, misdiagnosis - this is a bigger problem. I have constantly been told that I have the fatty liver, however it depends on the hospital you go to as to how fatty the liver is. I have been to 3 hospitals, the first one told me I was one stage from cancer, the next one told me it was mild, I went back to the first one after 3 years and they said it was mild.

But then they decided they found Gall Stones and wanted to operate on me to remove my Gall bladder ( again depends on the hospital) Thursday night they did an ultrasound, no problem, Monday they did an ultrasound (same doctor) and found a 1 inch gall stone. I was previously checked 6 times before by the same hospital and an international hospital in China that all found no evidence of gall stones.

I then went to another hospital in Chiang Mai and three doctors came and double checked my ultrasounds and said that there was no evidence of gall stones whatsoever.

From my experience, keep off any hard liquor, no spirits or lao kao or any of that shit, make sure you eat before drinking, stick to 5 big bottles of Chang per night as a maximum and you will probably be OK. I am not a doctor, but I don't trust the doctors here, If my advice turns out to be wrong and I die I will drop you a PM OK?

For the ultrasound, it needs a lot experience to see the things clearly. When I was at the military 2 docs who ultrasounded me told me that they have no clue about it, so they just write the worst case on the diagnose...just to be safe.

In the hospital the doc won't say that but still has no clue.

The doctors that checked me out spent over 1 hour on ultrasound and found nothing, the original doctor found nothing on at least 4 occaisions before, the last one 3 days before finding this huge 1" stone. I just do not trust them here. The doctors in Chiang Mai said it was probably a shadow. Myself, I am not sure, my mothers family have a history of gall stones, personally I think it is just pancreatitis due to drinking, I know I drink too much and that is the risk I take. At least here I am not costing anyone but myself for surgery etc. I have to pay out of my own pocket. But there is no way I want some trigger happy doctor removing my gall bladder just for the cash. They would probably stick an old piece of gravel in it after they cut it out just to justify their actions. It amazes me how many people you see complaining about the NHS in the UK when you compare it to here or China ( as a point of interest, I spent 4 nights in a local hospital here, given anti biotics, X-ray Ultrasound and various meds when I had pancreatitis, they were fantastic to be honest, I had the exact same treatment in Shanghai, 4 nights...same meds only a nicer room - Chiang Mai 18,000 Baht, Shanghai, 60,000 Yuan! (almost 300K Thai Baht, and they nearly killed me twice with wrong meds and blood sugar problems)

And just for the benefit of anyone without insurance that have to pay on their own, make sure you check out the hospital first! My 18K bill was for 4 nights in a San Patong Hospital, my wife wanted me to go into the city, the Maharaj Hospital. Be very careful here as this hospital is as bad as the KKK regarding Racism. They charge a Thai 1800 Baht a night (generally speaking - nursing meds etc.) but if you are a westerner, and it does NOT matter if you have your little yellow book, they have been told by the directors / admin of the hospital to fleece farang! I was charged almost 14K Baht for one day, my wife (Thai ) questioned this and the girl making up the bills told her straight that she had been told that farang had to be charged as much as possible!

You would actually be better off paying for the Chiang Mai Ram! at least you would get a private room with a TV and run up about 7-8K per day rather than spend it in a ward with 8 other people where the place is actually filthy, cobwebs and spiders over your bed, no air con absolutely nothing.

  18. It is pretty heartbreaking just thinking about this, I have 3 kids and God knows how I would cope in a situation like this. My heart goes out to both families, it is amazing the strength that young girls family has had to do this send off, good luck to them.

I hope both of the families get to see REAL justice carried out, and not have to put up with this sham of shit by the disgraceful Thai police, (They do not deserve to hold the title "Royal" it demeans the very thing it stands for)
