Does anyone know what the situation is regarding a current multi re-entry permit tied to my 1 year extension and what needs to be done to sort it out?

My extension of stay runs out end of March, I usually apply about 20 days before that date, then I usually get a "Please Return to Immigration" stamp for the end of April when I pick up my new 1 year extension.

This year however, I will be out of the country until some time towards the end of February, when I will make my application, I will then need to leave again and return near the end of April to pick up the new extension of stay

I have a multi re entry permit, but this is tied to the current extension which runs out at the same time as the original extension - end of March.

Do you know if it is possible to have the re entry permit extended up to the "Return to immigration" date at the end of April, or do I have to apply for a new re entry permit, then another re entry permit once I am granted the next extension of stay?

I cannot seem to find anything on here about this situation. Last thing I want is to screw up my year extension because my re entry permit expires while I am out of the country.

Can I get my current multi re entry cancelled in February when I make the new extension application, then once they stamp me to return in April, apply for a new re-entry permit to cover the month or two I will be away?

You would have to be a complete retard to pay 10K or 15K for two small drinks at any bar in Chiang Mai - it simply does not happen! Yes you can get ripped off, but only if you are too stupid to be let out on your own.

Chiang Mai is one of the easiest places for a beer, if you don't like it, pay the bill and go elsewhere, if you get stitched up here then you are pretty easy meat - you will get ripped off by the whores in Trumpton or Camberwick Green!

I tend to agree with you to be honest, the Catholic Church has done a lot more harm than any religion here.

The problem I have with the so called Bhuddism here is it is in fact complete bullshit, but like most things in Thailand it is a layer of shit covered in a fine smear of Gold, scratch the surface and the rot is there.

It is the way it is revered that makes it so sickening, how poor people are virtually strong armed into coughing up their pennies to hand over to the almost unemployable types that seem to end up in a temple.

I have searched and searched on this topic on how to put a modem or router into full bridge mode, but it seems most topics are devoted to bridging wirelessly.

All I want to do is to use my router / modem as a pure ADSL modem, no DHCP, nothing, just a straight bridge to my new wireless router.

I have 2 old router / modems, an old Billion 5210s that came with the original TOT ADSL package and a Belkin F6D4630 - V4 that I bought a few years back (it has wireless and connects to ADSL)

I bought a new Cisco EA6500 that I want to use as the controlling router for the home network, and set up either the Belkin or the Billion as purely an interface between the ADSL and the network.

When I try to connect the Billion I get nothing, set in bridge mode set in whatever, it simply will not connect, so maybe it is duff?

The Belkin works as an ADSL connection and all 4 ports and wireless work as a stand alone, however, when trying to set it into bridge mode, I can actually connect with the Cisco, but the Belkin orange internet light is constantly trying to connect.

All I want to do is get either one of these to work as a simple modem, then let the Cisco handle DHCP PPOE password and log on etc. Is it really this difficult?

The Belkin has 2 apparent bridging modes, one is complete bridge which I have set up, this should not look for PPOE log on or even try to connect to the internet, but this connection is the one with the constantly flashing orange internet trying to connect.

There is a second mode - LLC Bridge 1483 - which I believe uses the Belkin to authourise the connection to the ISP, any ideas where I am going wrong here?

I set the Belkin up on its own in full bridge and it did not look for an internet connection, only showed network and power LED's, but once I connect the Cisco behind it, it reverts to lighting up everything except the wireless LED - I.E, you get power, network, ADSL etc.

Any help would be appreciated!

If I remember correctly, if you have a UK passport you need to renew in Hong Kong, they don't require your original passport, just a photocopy.

So until you cut the corner off your old passport then it still "appears" to be valid.

So it should be just a matter of timing, what worries me more about this is are they planning a change in what you need to qualify for the extension?

Cause a lot of people like me who have the grandfathered eligibility could end up having to requalify under whatever new rules they bring in if we mess up the timing.

I think the last change to the marriage extension was about 11 years ago, when the cash in the bank went up to 400K from 250K, also, I think the UK will issue with an additional 9 months validity.

I had a new UK passport issued in China as mine was almost full, both passports were usable, they never clipped the corner and the nearly full one still had 5 years on it.
