  1. Is it possible to get a work permit for an online business?

Sure, you just have to meet the requirements for both business startup and workpermit application.
Exactly, by which point you're not running your own 'online business' since you must have Thai partners (exception for Americans), an office and full time Thai staff.
  2. It should perfectly reasonable for the Thai government to crack down on visa abuse, but under the present system a good proportion of abusers are doing things that the Thai government actually wants foreigners to be doing. Seems like it would be sensible to also revise the visa/work permit rules so that the need for educated foreign (primarily but not exclusively Western) workers can be met within the rules.

  3. 1st Rule of Thaskin's Law

You must never admit that the Thai Army has done more in 2 days to solve Thailand's problems, than my PTP Party has done in the last 6 months

What have they done exactly beside taking away freedom and disrupting everybody's life ?

People like you as well the too many others that are cheering a military coup should be give an extended chance to learn what it is really about.

    We know what its about.

The army are the only ones competent enough to get anything done. Game is over. Thaksin loses. Chalerm and others arrested. Lao border closed. Thank god for the troops, real men instead of con men and cheaters like Shinawatra Chicom Swindlers.

Shame they couldn't have gone into action a bit sooner and allowed people to vote freely in the elections. Maybe supported the police in clearing various government buildings and major intersections of gun wielding protesters. It's amazing how just a little while ago the constitution and the right to protest seemed tremendously important. They've served their purpose now I guess.

  4. <script type='text/javascript'>window.mod_pagespeed_start = Number(new Date());</script>

Im not up to date, is Mr. Jatuporn still threatening civil war and treating general Prayuth as his subordinate or he came to his senses already? I hope he is not shitting himself now as he has shown to be a very courageous speaker. Thai army has honour and cannot be bought with money.

Thai army has honour and cannot be bought with money.

This is the biggest joke I have ever heard !

So you need to learn more about Thailand. They are the true guardians of this country. They are not doing it for self interest but for the nation as a whole. Some of you guys are so negative about Thailand, why are you still here?

I guess this is the kind of thing you have to say when you're posting with your business identity. The question is, did you type it without cracking up? I know I couldn't.

  5. Yet again, the political crisis pits a Bangkok-based royalist elite against the billionaire family of former premier Thaksin Shinawatra. It's amazing how many foreign media continue to refer to this mysterious elite, as though Thailand's problems really are that black and white. As though no other Thais could possibly reject Thaksin, his cronies, and all they stand for.

There are plenty of reasons why ordinary Thais would dislike Thaksin, just like there plenty of reasons for ordinary Thais to support him. But the ordinary Thais aren't going to be in power, whoever wins. The media tends to focus on the players rather than the pieces.

  6. Who has the POWER

so power has not been handed to an unelected leader but taken - does that mean jutaporn is going to call his red army to the streets or is he in jail already

Have Surapong Charlerm and Tarit foregone their 5 star breakfast

I did hear that Surapong, Chalerm and Tharit have been asked to account for all the money that the CAPO spent.

I guess they will be slogging away with their spreadsheets.

Martial Law means that the police now fall under the army. Not sure where Tharit now stands.

That being the case, the army could take the oportunity to remove Thaksin and Chalerm of their police rank and even restructure the police force to a politically neutral entity that actually does it's job.

But who's going to restructure the army into a politically neutral entity?

  7. Why can't he just embrace the democratic process and work to move the county forward , this guy would love Thailand to be under military dictatorship for the long run

If you bother to listen to him and not only red radio, than you would know that Suthep want elections!

Prepare yourself for a shock my friend, but listening to what people say they want isn't always a reliable way to find out what they actually want.
  8. It's not so much that the word 'farang' is offensive in itself, more that it's frequently used unnecessarily. Constantly bringing up someone's ethnicity, even in polite terms, in situations where it's irrelevant gets a little tedious. "Oh, I'm not Thai? Thanks for noticing! It would have slipped my mind if you hadn't brought the fact into our unrelated conversation." It's not really a big deal in itself though.

  9. First of all, thanks to those who offered advice. Following this advice I went to Suthisan police station last Friday afternoon to get a police report of the loss. This went smoothly. No wait, no fee. Today I went to immigration. Again no problem. I was asked a couple of times why I didn't have a TM6 but I just apologized for losing it and showed them the police report, which they accepted without further questioning. I was asked to make a photocopy of the report though, which was then filed along with the other documents in my application.

  10. Metapod

Been here 14 years and never had or highly unlikely to ever have a Thai male friend.

Absolutely nothing in common with them whatsoever. Anyone who says they have 'Thai friends' are very odd people IMO.

I'd say your the odd one. You have lived in a country for 14 years and haven't made one friend from that country.

I'd say that it is exactly the same as the foreigners who come to England, they don't join in with us, they stay in there own groups.

So why is it strange ? I think you are the odd one out mate !

I had plenty of foreign friends when I lived in the UK. Lots of foreigners join in with the UK just fine.

  11. Just go to any police station and ask for it is correct.

If you have a copy of your departure card it would help at immigration (also with police report).

Thanks. Unfortunately I don't have a copy. I usually just keep it and my passport in the draw in my apartment where I put important documents. I was quite surprised to find it wasn't there when I looked for it to be honest.

  12. I suggest you get a police report before going to immigration.

Are you aware that Lad Phrao is not the only temporary office. There is also another office at Major Hollywood Suksawat which has been reported as being less busy.

I wasn't aware it was less busy. I live on Ladphrao road hence my initial preference for that office. What's the procedure for getting a police report? Just turn up at a police station and ask for one at the desk I guess.
  13. Just go to immigraiton and tell them you lost the card, they will give you a new card there.

Some offices require that you file a police report, but that would also depends on the kind of extension you are seeking. ( a yearly extension or an extension of a tourist visa). Can't recall that BKK-immigration requires a police report.

Thanks for the reply. I'm getting a 90 day extension to an ED visa. My main concern is that the temporary immigration office was very busy last time I was there. Not the kind of place I'd want to get anything out of the ordinary done.

  14. Ok, so somehow I've managed to lose my departure card. I have to go to immigration for a visa extension in a few days so I need to get a replacement. I'm a bit worried about trying to sort it out at immigration because the immigration center in Ladphrao (I'm in Bangkok) was pretty chaotic the last time I was there, and I've also heard of people being asked to get a police report first. I've read that people are generally successful getting a low hassle replacement at the airport when they leave. Is it possible for me to just go to the airport and get a new one, even though I'm not actually leaving the country?

Has anyone had any recent experience with this, either at the airport or at the temporary immigration office?

  15. You have said it already 3 or even more times that i am uneducated, while proclaiming to be very well educated yourself.

I have asked you to support your claims of being all that you claiming to be and received nothing b but drivel.

Furthermore, if you had any education or common sense, i doubt you would me making up education levels such as "scientific education" or referencing to Wiki, instead of having basic skills to post your own words

Please do not respond with another load of drivel

Why are you confused by the concept of a scientific education, and why are you more interested in my words and qualifications than in the words and qualifications of the people writing the articles that can be found in the references of the Wikipedia article I linked to? Why won't you provide a reference for you '10% of the brain' claim? Why won't you answer my question about the first law?

More importantly, why am I even debating with someone who claims to believe in magic spells? By this point you're either trolling very hard indeed or just incredibly thick. It was fun for a while but I'm bored now. Have a good one.

  16. So you are right, because you said so:whistling:

And i am wrong because you said so:rolleyes:

And you know more because you said so:facepalm:

    Your credibility just shines through:thumbsup:

I'm not asking you to accept my credibility, I'm asking you to read the references in the Wikipedia article I linked to. I'm also suggesting that if you have only a limited formal education in science, particularly physics, you're not very well placed to judge what is plausible when it comes to magic powers.
  17. Look, sleight of hand artists can do that kind of trick easily. It is literally all in a day's work for them. With a little research you can turn up accounts of people engaged in this kind of theater who explain how they do it. If it weren't a trick then basic principles of physics would have to be rewritten. These principles haven't just been pulled out of someone's arse; they've been arrived at via the immense effort of hundreds of thousands of talented people at the cost of huge amounts of money. We're not talking about small adjustments to the laws either, like "this particle appears at a slightly higher mass than predicted so we need to take another look at the theory", we're talking about entirely new physical principles that are obvious enough to be harnessed by random guys in huts, but for some reason too subtle to be detected by the finest and most expensive measuring equipment in laboratory settings.

When someone claims to do something that we know can be done by trickery, and that we know lies contrary to some of the most fundamental truths we have, then yeah, it's probably done by trickery.
