  1. As usual the Thai Haters come out in force.

I seem to have very little problems, maybe i don't go in with a 'white supremist' attitude.

Don't know why PoodMaiDai, Jackr and the like don't go back to where they came from if they hate Thais and Thailand so much..oh yeh they were losers there too

I so agree. By the way, whatever you do, don't buy a Mitsubishi air conditioner! Terrible quality. Panasonic much better: includes a free fan and Hello Kitty handlebar covers for your scooter.

When I first came to Thailand, I purchased a Panasonic emergency light... or so I thought. Right up until the second power outage when it wouldn't turn on. Looking closer at the label (which I learned to do the hard way in Thailand,) I discovered the much smaller writing below the HUGE Panasonic name, writing that said "Pansonic battery only." Had I seen that, I wouldn't have bought, as I know that Panasonic doesn't MAKE batteries...

    >This is why Nordstroms (in the US) is the best department store in the world, IMHO. Their staff are super trained and sell any brand. Its an amazing experience.

Nordstroms is considered to have the world's best customer service of any large department store. Their prices may be higher than some other stores, but sometimes it's worth it to pay the extra few dollars.

    Panasonic make LOTS of batteries:

  2. Is this not another rule 7 thread? How can the OP ask questions which encompass 60 million Thais? Is there some sort of competition (hint: Vs) between Thais and non-Thais? How about actually befriending a few Thais rather than condemning the whole nation? I've had Thai friends for the past 20 years and I'd trust them much more than I'd trust the vast majority of my own countrymen.

It was a question. Don't be afraid of a question/debate. Peolpe are not the same all over the world you know. It's not about right and wrong - it's about our differences.

Really? What was the question? I know 'people are not the same all over the world' but your "question" implied that Thais and Farang are collectively all the same when you asked about their respective loyalties.

  3. After Prez Obama's re-election, in which gay marriage was a part of his platform, same sex marriage legislation was enacted in France and the UK. No one can doubt that Prez Obama is transformative - he finally got a national health care bill enacted into law, a Democratic party issue that began 70 years ago with FDR and Prez Harry Truman.

Others in the world are trying to catch up to where Obama long has been on these and other vital issues of the present and the future. Welcome aboard Thailand. It's odd to hear a Thai welcoming fahlang ideas, policies, programs.

The UK has had civil partnerships (gay marriage in all but name) since 2004. We decriminalised homosexuality in 1967. Lawrence v Texas didn't happen till 2003. We've had universal healthcare since 1948. We don't need lectures from the US on gay rights or healthcare.

  5. I'm sure the OP would be happy if a bunch of Thais moved to his home country and belittled the public holidays that his countrymen hold dear.

Your right, the Thais that come to England, are most savvy at hunting for bargains on Boxing Day, along with others. Boxing day used to be so relaxing now it has descended into chaotic shopping.

BTW, I didnt mean offence by my post and apologise if you do feel offended.

Theres that sense of humour were talking about.

The Thais that I know in the UK celebrate Christmas Day, New Years Eve, Songkran and all the Bank Holidays. They use any chance they're offered to have a good time rather than whining about things that they're not accustomed to.

  6. I think there are a number of crossed wires here. Until someone actually comes up with an official name for this tax it's no more than a rumour. If the cheque sender still has a UK bank account and UK cheque book there would be no bank charges to be paid.

  7. Can I go down the shop and buy a loaf of bread with bitcoins?

Can I go down the shop and buy a loaf of bread with US dollars? My local 7-11 doesn't seem to think so.

That's because you're not in the US. Try baht. Can you buy a loaf at your local 7-11 with bitcoins?

Nope they don't accept bitcoins here's a list of some other currencies I also cannot use at my local 7-11:

    • USD
    • AUD
    • EUR
    • CAD

Conclusion: all these currencies are worthless. Or are you asking "Is there anywhere in the world where you can buy a loaf of bread with bitcoins", then yes I'm sure you can find somewhere: http://bitcoin.travel/

Provided you're in the right country you can use all of those currencies to buy a loaf of bread. Name me one country where you can walk into any shop and buy a loaf of bread with bitcoins.
