I recall seeing/hearing something about an art festival or show this weekend, cannot recall if today or tomorrow or any other details.
Have tried google and forum search but no clues.
If anyone has any info would appreciate it, cheers.

Thanks for the replies so far!

Having a problem with a Philips flatscreen TV powering up.
Does anyone know of a reliable TV repair place in or near Phuket Town?
Model is around 4 years old - large flatscreen type TV
Thanks in advance for any advice.

The one which has a temperature 3 degrees less than the other?

I just came back from the Andaman Club run to Ranong yesterday.
Went with KBV.
Got back safely.
Have done 2 previous runs with them (one to Ranong/Andaman Club, another to Penang). Driver on both of those was excellent.
Yesterday's was okay coming back in the rain (he slowed down a lot) - but was going like a bat out of hell on the way up from Phuket in the morning when it was dry.

and no tintted windows allowed in malaysia
So sort out insurance before reaching the border. After that nobody will check anymore.
Not sure how this helps with tinting.
They use a meter on everyone's cars as you cross into Malaysia. If the level of tinting exceeds that which is allowable - you can't go into Malaysia.
Or am I missing something here?
Yes, you are missing something here.
The level of tinting is checked at the insurance office after you have crossed the border. So sort out your insurance before you reach the border and you'll have no problems because it will not be checked.
Actually the window tinting for all vehicles crossing the border on the Malaysian side was being checked by uniformed transport or border officials with a meter last time I crossed. Certainly not at an insurance office.

Are these good phones? Guaranteed? A mixed bag.....?
To be honest, as soon as you say you're looking for second hand phones then your above questions are kind of redundant.
Best to go and have a look, there are plenty in MBK.
Spend a lot of time testing, don't rely on guarantees for anything second hand.

My guardian spirit will accept nothing but scotch whisky.
Correction. Your guardian spirit IS scotch whisky.

OP is almost indecipherable - but I thought his GF was Chinese, not Thai?

Waidaminute, I thought size didn't matter. That's what The Ladies keep telling me.
Size DOESN'T matter..... but only if its medium or large.
Hence the point of this topic. The Ladies should have told you this already.

"I would go a step further and make all the new arrivals AND the current farang residents be subjected to tattoo searches. Anybody with any kind of tattoo should be deported. Have you noticed that it's never the educated and civilised people who cover their bodies with this "art", always the riff raff, ex-cons etc. No tattoos - no riff raff - equals peaceful and safe LOS. Simple."
This is the most sweeping generalization I have ever seen on this site. Staggering.
..or one of the most tongue in cheek...

Gozo.
Isn't that part of Malta? Never been to Malta, always wanted to.

Voting yes twice makes no sense!
...it might make perfect sense if you are Thai....
I voted no for both. Can't really see the point of this poll. Thailand is not my favourite country, neither is my home country.
Fine. My favourite place (can't really call it a country anymore) - is Hong Kong. Feel more at home living there than anywhere else I have been.

Goodness gracious me.
Jolly good....
What to do?

Apparently this sex video is of Anwar, or lookalike, with a woman. So where does that leave that sodomy allegations from a few years ago? >_>
That would depend entirely on your definition of Sodomy. In which case it could refer to sex with either a male or a female, as long as the *ahem* back nine is being played, or the tradesman's entrance is being used (you get the picture).
So in terms of the Anwar allegations - all bases are covered.

KBV Visa run - good outfit. Used them for a Penang run in January.
Sat in the front next to the driver - very safe, did not feel concerned at all with his driving.
Arrived at the Banana Hotel in Chulia Street around 9am on the Friday morning - agent was waiting for our passports.
Excellent buffet breakfast laid on.
Rooms were good, nothing to do that day, so slept until late afternoon, then went and explored Penang with another 2 Brits on the same trip (there were also 6 Russians - nice folk, had a good laugh with them)
Breakfast the next morning (set menu as it was a Saturday). Agent handed us our passports during breakfast - all good.
Chaos at the border on the way back (Thai side) as it was a holiday in Malaysia. Took over an hour to get through Thai immigration.
Stopped for lunch on the way back at about 2pm - excellent meal.
Got back into Phuket around 6pm, dropped back at the hotel in Phuket Town.
Some other funny stories on the way back, but the info above might help.

What is Chinatown like in terms of a place to stay? Is it easy to get around to other parts of the city from there?
I have 5 days there next week - including a couple of trips to the Thai Embassy - any advise about inexpensive accommodation would be appreciated (USD$25-30 per night, would rather spend more on going out than the room)

Actually there have been quite a number of new hotels opening up for foreigners in the past 12-18 months, in various parts of the country.
And I've spent most of the past decade and a half living and working in the country.
As for your bike trip locations - I haven't been to that part of the country in particular, and I can't offer an explanation for why you would be locked up.
I see a lot of improvements in the country in the past few years, and a lot of positive progress. Certainly there is a long way to go - but anyone on the ground there will tell you that there are changes, and many are for the better.
When I first arrived in the country in the late 90's - I was living in a very restricted part of the country, and was not allowed out to work without an armed escort. I can tell you that this is not the case now in that part of the country.
Why not try and add something positive to these discussions? I for one can see a lot of positive steps in a relatively short time. Perhaps other posters have too.
Art Festival Somewhere This Weekend? Rawai?
in Phuket
Posted
Thanks, eventually found the poster. Says there is an art workshop from 0930, and then an art exhibition from 1830 in the evening.
So the music and performance art etc - is that the whole day or only in the evening?
Any ideas?
