Good news, thanks for the info!
Finally something SUBSTANTIAL (If this materialises) regarding the "opening up" of Burma. Until now it seemingly was a lot of hot air, nothing else.
Hot air, really? The country has been more or less closed off for the better part of 50 years - how fast do you expect this to happen?

Thanks for the advice - I went to the Cigar shop at Fishermen bend this morning - but they don't stock them.
Another forum said something about a market at Loma Beach - but I can't quite work out where they mean.
...and I wasn't able to travel to Phnom Penh - funny enough it is not located in Phuket (unlike the thread title)
Thanks
Archie
I like the clove cigs, Sampoerna Mild..........did you see any of those for sale at the shop Archie?? Thanks.
Unfortunately I didn't spot any Sampoernas. The hunt for clove cigarettes is an ongoing mission.....
Cheers

Hoping some fellow Phuket members might be able to help me here.
Looking to find a shop which sells Gudang Garam cigarettes locally. They are Indonesian imports.
I know they are available - I had a minivan driver last month who had them, and he said he got them near the Surin turn off, but I couldn't get any details. He also said they might be available in Phuket Town.
Please post if you can assist, cheers

Hmmm, maybe some people don't understand what they are reading.......
Dude - it was easy to understand. You were self promoting. Move on, there's plenty more to life than winning awards in cyber-space

I put up a fun member title " Thaivisa Non Resident Member of the Year " and someone has gone in and wiped it......
What's going on with that? Surely no one was taking it seriously?
Why would anyone, who missed out on some title because they didn't get enough votes, decide to announce themself as the winner of a similar sounding made up own award instead?
I was in elementary school last time I remember something like this happening.

I've just realized that I'm the Non-Resident Thaivisa Member Of The Year 2012!!! Happy days!! New member title coming up!!!
I don't remember there being a poll for Non-Resident Thaivisa Member Of The Year 2012?
I only voted in the ThaiVisa Member of the Year 2012 poll
Odd.

He's on a roll -- late last month he got the sexiest man alive tag, although some spoilsports insist that was a hoax, and the gangnam video (where he calls himself Psy) is en route to a billion views. Ten thousand years! Ten thousand years!
Post of the week. I will never be able to look at the Gangnam video again without thinking its actually Our Dear Glorious Leader. LMAO

Is there a category for the best post, as opposed to the best poster?
ie some posters don't contribute a lot, but occasionally come up with something profound or hilarious (or both)....
example in How do you earn money in Thailand

There are others...
Such as yourself.
I nominate SteeleJoe for his hilarious contributions on the Does Any Thread Ever Stay On Topic thread....
That thread was so funny I decided to sign up

Apple devices, have an app called "skyscanner", that can at least give a point in the right direction (even if not getting the ticket from the app).
Skyscanner is not just for Apple devices.
Skyscanner.net is good for checking airfares across all airlines.
OP - Air Asia is probably your best bet for a one way ticket. Nothing wrong with them, and they are usually the cheapest.
As others have pointed out, it will be via KL - if your wife's friend doesn't mind the longer trip - then I'd book Air Asia if it is cheaper than the direct options.

Quite surprised by this. At least they weren't pointing to maintenance issues as the problem.
For the amount of flying they do, Air Asia has a great track record so far.

Thanks for the replies - still no luck.
If anyone spots them in a night market or street corner - please let me know if you don't mind the trouble!
