  1. This post, and your previous post have been about the fact that your partner has been trying to get a visit visa for the UK. Now you say that you want to get your partner "out of Thailand and back home in Ireland or the UK with me." That doesn't sound like a visit visa application ? If you want your partner to live with you (and the ECO will be wondering why you don't, if you are seriously ill) then why don't you apply for a settlement visa for her ?
  2. To be honest, I'm not sure what you are referring to ? Is this about Thailand being on the red list ? Where is your quote from ?
  3. It's not superior knowledge by any means. It's from the published guidance by UKVI, and the fact that a question to UKVI, asking for clarification of "residence rights" confirmed it. The guidance says : If you have been in a country or territory on the red list in the last 10 days you will only be allowed to enter the UK if you are a British or Irish National, or you have residence rights in the UK.
  4. Not strictly correct. Visitors from redlist countries cannot enter the UK at the moment. But people with "residence rights" can, and a settlement visa gives residence rights. UKVI are not processing visit visa applications at the moment (although they do accept the application), but settlement visas are being processed as normal.
  5. He has gone very quiet. 38,000 posts, and now no response. Seriously, if he has "evidence" to back up his claims, then I would be interested to see that evidence as it is a fairly strong allegation on UK immigration policy.
  6. With respect, your post seems to indicate that sponsors who receive benefits cannot sponsor visitors, and this happens all the time. What do you base that advice on ? And what evidence do you have that it happens all the time ?
  7. What benefits are there in not applying early ? The question has been answered above.
  8. Why would they want to wait until the visa is almost expired ? Unless they are unable to meet the financial requirements for the extension as a spouse ? Until the spouse application is made and FLR is granted, she cannot work or use the NHS. It makes sense to do it early.
  9. Maybe not totally correct. If you were jabbed in Thailand and work for the British Embassy, British Council, etc, etc, or are a family member of someone who works for them, then I believe that your vaccination in Thailand is acceptable in UK (as you are deemed to be working in London). Duty of care, you know. Maybe the Consular Team can confirm ?
  10. You would be wasting your time. The Embassy in Bangkok has nothing to do with UK visit visa applications. The applications are dealt with in New Delhi, India. However, the ultimate responsibility for the application lies with your partner. She signed the application form to declare that all of the information in the application was correct and true. With regard to the agent who dealt with the application, the UKVI will say that it is a case of "buyer beware", and they will declare a complete lack of interest. If you want to use an agent again, then use an agent that is registered with the OISC (Office of the Immigration Services Commissioner) in UK . There are a couple of UK registered agents who also have offices in Thailand.
  11. I would be interested to know which advisors in Thailand operate, and are regulated, under UK FCA rules, as my experience with them has shown that they are unregulated and mainly in it for the high commissions paid by the companies that they recommend.
  12. How do you know that all nationalities will get vaccinated from your donation ? Was that specified by the UK Govt ? The US donation was for vulnerable categories, but with the proviso that a percentage went to vulnerable ex-pats. You have intentionally, I believe, deflected the point of these criticisms, the point being that the British Govt apparently did nothing to specifically help Brits overseas.
  13. This is what I received from Bolt when they first started operations here. I'm not sure if any of it still applies. I imagine "Bolt Base" is now "Bolt Car" ? : At Bolt we have 5 ride categories. Bolt Base - Starting fare from 35 baht Standard rate (All type of cars will be in this one) Bolt Economy - Starting fare from 26 baht 15% cheaper than Base rate ( All type of cars will be in this one too if the drivers agree with Economy rate) Bolt Comfort - Starting fare from 75 baht 30% Higher than Base rate ( Only cars in premium category will be in this one) Bolt XL - Starting fare from 75 baht Higher than Comfort Rate (6-9 seaters ie SUV and Van) Bolt Taxi - Starting fare from 35 baht Taxi rate (This will only be for Taxi)
  14. I haven't posted lately, due to the fact that I have obtained my first vaccination, courtesy of the US Govt. I had a Pfizer vaccination at MedPark Hospital on Friday last, and my second jab is due after three weeks. Very grateful to the US Govt for donating the vaccine, and for insisting that some of it is used for ex-pats of any nationality. I have to wonder why the British Govt couldn't have done the same. Any response, Consular Section ?
  15. Thanks for posting the refusal notice. It raises some further questions, of course. First there is mention of a previous refusal. How long ago was that ? Was the application to visit you ? What was your partner's occupation at that time (as stated on the application form) ? What were the reasons for refusal in the previous application ? It is clear that the ECO was not happy with the employment. He states 'you "claim" to be self employed', which kind of implies that he doesn't necessarily believe the claim. She said that she was self-employed as a farmer ? What kind of income did she claim ? Does she own land ? Did she provide any evidence of land or income ? An explanation for all of this will be required for any new application
  16. You have got yourselves into a bit of a mess now. I would be happy to have a look at the refusal notice, and give whatever advice I can or, as brewsterbudgeon says, post it here with all personal details removed. However, the matter of your partner's employment is a problem now. As you say, it might not have been if your partner had declared her actual employment. Is there any mention of employment in the refusal notice, either her claimed employment or her actual employment ? Any new application for a visit visa now stands the chance of being refused, depending on how it is presented, and whether the next ECO accepts any explanations or not. Possibly the biggest problem is now admitting that your partner didn't declare her actual employment, as the use of "fraud" or false representations in any previous application can lead to refusal in any new application, and admitting that her real employment was not disclosed is a virtual admission of a false representation in the previous application. There is no right of appeal in visit visa applications, as previously mentioned above.
  17. You are confirming the advice I gave. The immigration rules are designed to allow partners, families, etc, to live in the UK together, not to allow you to get your wife to the UK while you work overseas. However, the rules do allow you to live in the UK as a family, and for you to work outside of the UK for short periods as part of your employment/job. But not to allow you to be permanently employed outside of the UK. The reasoning is obvious. Why should your wife benefit from being in the UK, free NHS treatment after getting settlement, permission to work, get UK benefits, etc while you also enjoy all of the benefits of non-resident ex-pat life outside of the UK ? If it was that easy, we would all be doing it. I think you summed it up yourself when you say that you do not qualify as a UK resident. Your British children don't really give your wife the right to live in the UK without you, unless you are separated/divorced and also meet other immigration requirements
  18. You're in a grey area here, bordering on possible abuse of the immigration rules. Your wife has no real right to accompany or join her children in the UK to live if she could qualify to go to the UK as your partner/spouse. To qualify as a partner or spouse you should both be intending to live together permanently in the UK. It sounds like you have no intention of doing that. Your children, being British have the right to live in the UK, be educated in the UK, etc, but your wife is not British and has no such automatic right. Now, if you divorce her, that could be a different story. Or, you could go to live with your family in the UK, pay UK taxes, etc. I have simplified the whole thing, but, essentially, I think the above is correct.
  19. What do you want me to say ? Yes....no. How do I know ?
  20. Yes, I got an email with an appointment. Then I got another email saying that I could walk - in at any time during a 7-day period. So, I have an "open" appointment. If you send them an email, they usually reply quite quickly.
  21. Some of us have been able to get appointments for vaccination at MedPark Hospital, Bangkok in the next few weeks. Many of us have contacted the hospital to try to find out what vaccine we will be receiving. MedPark say that they don't know, and that seems strange, as they are making appointments without knowing what vaccine will be available ? Hospital(s) in Hua Hin have announced that their vaccination program will be "first shot Sinovac, second shot AZ 3-4 weeks later". Some of us might be persuaded to go this route, but some of us are also keeping in mind that Sinovac on a vaccination certificate might not be acceptable for international travel. Many of us will be making long journeys to Bangkok (without the possibility of inter-provincial pubic transport), and some may have to overnight in Bangkok. This could be a nugatory journey if we only find out, on the day, that we will be given double-doses of the Sinovac vaccine that we don't want. My question is, can you (as an interested or concerned entity) contact MedPark Hospital on behalf of British citizens, in order to try to ascertain what vaccine(s) will be used ? You may have more "clout" than individual enquirers.
