  1. A post referring to the Thai government as a dictatorship has been removed from this thread.

Please refer to this pinned topic in the News Forum.

Please use discretion in your references to the government. Phrases which can be considered as anti-coup will be removed. Referring to Thailand or the government as a dictatorship, military dictatorship or other such terms will be removed.

So the freedom to express yourself freely in an open and transparent way is no longer acceptable on TV?

  2. Transparency ... not a word recognized in Thailand. Who's on the list; probably will never know but those on it sure to ... this sound more like selective screening with those on the list likely to have a word with Prayut and if they won't play his game them action is likely to be taken. Of course that will include ample time to flee the country.

Justice Thai Style = one big fat FARCE.

  3. SONGKHLA Fishery Association president Praporn Ekuru said the issuing of a yellow card for illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing practices and the threat to ban Thai fishery exports could have been driven by the European Union's economic protectionism or its desire to see the military regime of General Prayut Chan-o-cha return the country to democracy.

Yeah that's right blame it on the foreigners; after all it's irrelevant that Thailand is complicit in the trafficking of persons, slavery, rape and murder.

Praporn can thank his lucky stars it wasn't my decision for there wouldn't be a yellow card I would have just imposed a ban with immediate effect. You see there remains some people in this world that strongly believes that human trafficking, slavery, rape and murder are crimes that should be punished ... I guess Thailand and the Thai people don't feel that way but rather it's just business as usual and providing the money keeps on rolling in then all is fine.

The Songkhla Fishery Association president, who is also a former MP of the Democrat Party, said he had no confidence that Thailand would be able to meet the deadline for adjustment and improvement, despite the fact that the Kingdom had been trying to deal with the issues for years now.

And there you go ... trying for years to solve a problem that can be solved in months providing the country wasn't corrupt from the top to the bottom.

"Thailand should seek alternative markets," he concluded, adding the Middle East seemed a logical alternative market and Thailand's fishery exports to the region were still low.

Yes and let's hope these countries have a conscience and ban the trade due to the heinous way it is operated.

Praporn warned that even if Thailand succeeded in improving its fishery standards, it could mean a 20 to 30 per cent rise in the cost of marine produce and could in effect make Thai fisheries not competitive enough. It could even reduce the level of profits.

And now we once again start getting at the truth ... PROFIT. Yeah paying workers instead of having slaves certain cuts into the profit margin; something that no Thai wants. Could you possibly sink any lower?

Conclusion ... these morons are delusional if they really think this is a protectionist move by the EU or that the EU is in some way trying to force out the military junta. The statements that have been made are quite frankly testament to the despicable lack of consideration for other human beings and clearly shows just how greedy a Thai can be. Again, thank your lucky stars it's not my decision because I wouldn't just hit you with a fishing ban it would be every product this vile country produces.

  4. The Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation says it will not allow the holding of the 150 kilometres long ultra trail run from Doi Suthep in Chiang Mai to Doi Luang Chiang Dao because the trail run passes its wildlife sanctuaries where there are many species of protected wildlife, and rare plants.

What else is up there? Drug trails, human trafficking runs ... maybe the wildlife is not all they want to protect.

  5. You mean that stinking, smelling shit hole can be turned into a Utopia? Yeah sure ... any new buildings, will just result in more human waste being pumped into it and I'm sure that many people will love waking up each morning to the smell of freshly laid turds floating down the river ... of course it gets better as you have the unmistakable fragrance that goes with it.

Just imagine when it floods ... your own private cesspit swimming pool. Yeah it all sounds delightful.

  6. PRIME MINISTER Prayut Chan-o-cha has warned of tough action against state officials linked to human trafficking, a government spokesman said yesterday.

Describe exactly what 'tough action' consists of. Of course we know what that means ... transfer to an inactive post.

The only real action is going to be their attempts to cover this up, explain it away, create another crisis in order to divert attention. They are good at all of these but useless of tackling the actual problem ... and all due to the amount of money that flows.

I read a report this morning that they found a young woman in one grave that was approximately 8 months pregnant ... what type of person does it take to murder a woman and her unborn child for money? The answer is a Thai for they have no soul. I'm not religious but I do hope there is a hell and that those involved have a very special place there to burn.

  7. I'm sure I'll be ridiculed for this here on TVF, but I think the finding of multiple mass graves may actually be a watershed event.

I'm hopeful that it's a wake up call to tell the folks in Bangkok that the glowing reports they've been receiving from their representatives in the south are not true, and that will trigger some real investigations and some real reforms.

And I hope the media stays on this beyond the 5 minute attention span of the interweb connected public.

It would indeed be a nice thought alas we've seen this before. Cast your mind back to the Governments covert orders to the Navy to push back refugee boats in the Andaman. In 2008 this came to light and the Thai gov first denied it and then admitted it after several NGO's produced survivors. All the Thai Gov did was to promise to stop doing it ... the west then closed the book on it.

  8. Officials may face punishment if allow human trafficking activity to take place

May, but almost certainly not. Thainess will dictate that this be swept under the carpet for no Thai could possibly ever engage in such a heinous crime.

The PM has mentioned that in extreme cases such as the discovery of the camp in Sadao district, the responsible officials will be relocated. Meanwhile, the related persons with human trafficking activities will face disciplinary and criminal punishments.

What does Prayut mean 'in extreme cases'? Is not the murder of a vast number of innocent people considered extreme when the only goal is profiteering? Yes those responsible are to be relocated, not moved to inactive posts. Nothing like protecting your own from prosecution. But then he goes on to say that those related to trafficking will face disciplinary (moved to inactive posts) and criminal punishments - the later being 2 years but absconding on bail with the blood money.

Those that are involved should be tried and those that are found guilty should face the death penalty.

Now waiting to see if the west will find some balls and start placing sanctions on Thailand and other countries involved. Long has the west turned its back on the problems which makes them complicit.

  9. The two boys in the back of the Thai police pickup truck were terrified.
Dressed in ragged clothes, they had been caught close to a remote people smugglers' camp in southern Thailand's jungles where authorities found the remains of 26 people in shallow graves on the weekend.

The question is ... why would children run away from a police officers? Of course we are taught in the west that a police officers job is to protect and serve ... in Thailand it appears they are taught how to instill fear and extort ... worse those kids could have fled because they knew it was police officers who where part of the trafficking ring ... maybe not the officers in this case but to a kid they'll all look the same.

Whilst my Thai wife and I no longer live in the cesspit named Thailand I have to say that my wife has followed the news and she is thoroughly ashamed to be a Thai right now. Still she has a British passport so it's easy to deny but I do wonder how many regular Thais feel total shame and disgrace on how successive governments and authorities have turned a blind eye to the mass murders and even profited from it.

  10. The Ministry of Finance has admitted that Thailand’s export sector suffers from several factors and would likely contract this year, citing projections for gross domestic product of less than 3.7 percent this year.

Yeah and with a bit of luck it'll take a turn for the worse after the EU slaps a ban on the fishing industry. Hopefully on top of that other sanctions will be imposed over the on-going abuse of human rights and murder of people just to fuel the greed.

  11. The United States, which has censured Thailand for failing to act against human trafficking, called on Monday for a speedy and credible inquiry into the discovery of a mass grave containing more than two dozen bodies thought to be of ethnic migrants.

You simply cannot, under any circumstance and within any context, expect the Thais to produce a 'credible' inquiry ... it's always going to be tainted with protecting their own interests especially their money and if that means a few people dying in mass graves then I think it's obvious that they will stop at nothing when it comes to keeping the cash flow in full swing; this is evident considering that there is no way on earth the authorities could have possibly missed what was going on which, as many human rights groups have stated, makes them complicit in mass murder.

There's only one way to put a stop to this and labeling these vile people with T3 is NOT the answer ... sanctions and embargoes that's what's needed because that will hurt the flow of cash and it's the only thing the Thais understand.

  12. Several things, (1) As a young lad in Georgia (USA) I was taught to walk and ride my bicycle facing the traffic. (2) A little late at night to be riding in an improperly lighted area. (3) Car may heave been stolen or plates stolen otherwise what is the point of running unless you fear for your life.

Lastly, Where is the Red Bull Twerp that killed the Policeman ?? Seems like running, especially if your are well connected is the way (The locals) take care of business !! Manslaughter is a way of life some places !!

Rest in peace young man !!

After the accident that killed that cyclist the other day I asked the same question... it does appear that running is acceptable and then stating you're too ill to travel back to Thailand is also acceptable. I wonder if anyone ever thought there would be justice for the cop that was killed.

  13. Rights groups have long accused the Thai authorities of turning a blind eye to -- and even being complicit in -- human trafficking.

Yeah and what a coincidence that they are now finding even more graves ... and yet the authorities maintain they didn't know what was going on. Yeah and I believe in the tooth fairy.

Stung by that notorious reputation, Thailand's military government has launched a crackdown in recent months, arresting scores of officials.

There's a new crackdown every other day but none are ever convicted and imprisoned ... wonder why that is?

Well I think the Thai Gov can kiss the idea of it being downgraded from T3. It certainly won't help their case with the EU neither. You can bury the truth for decades but eventually the truth will out and when it does the effects are generally devastating. All we need now is for sanctions to be imposed and maybe once the money dries up they'll start changing their ways.

  14. Why can't Thai cities be like London, or Sydney, even Brisbane? They don't have traffic congestion, or slow highway traffic during holidays, do they?

I used to live and work in Central London. Once took me over 6 hours to travel 15km. Yes London has it's fair share of traffic problems which is why they introduced Congestion Charges ... it was designed to reduce traffic and increase revenue; the revenue part worked.
