The last thing you need in 40 degrees heat is to wear a mask.

Not only is a mask uncomfortable but life-threatening, the truth is finally out.

Anyway, it's a moot point, I never wear my mask now on principle. Went shopping, restaurant, never an issue with anybody.

We don't wear masks at all in Australia only Asian people do

A bit of a tug of war going on there. The Federal Prime Minister wants the kids back in the schools. The State premiers are saying frok off, that's putting the teachers at risk.

In Victoria, golf is banned, the only state in Australia to do so. That's got golfers who pay $4000 t0 $6000 a year in membership subscriptions very teed off.

Depending on whether one subscribes to the herd immunity or virus extinction hypotheses, Australia is doing either very badly or very well. https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/

I don't know when you reside in Australia the last time I am here for many years

and I do agree with every thing the government does. Just look at the stats from

    Australia or New Zealand

According to the article linked below, the flu has a R0 rate of around 1.3 and Covid 19 is currently understood to be higher though we don't yet know how much higher. The article states that one model of infections in China showed a R0 as high as 6. So, so far nobody is saying Covid 19 is less infectious than the flu. Therefore, one wouldn't expect infection rate to predict less people dying of Covid 19 than the flu. Actually, quite the opposite.

Yes the flu has been here for a long time but it did not kill so many people in just a few months

O well sometimes they are enforced when you are farang.

In Chiangmai i saw a thai crossing a road. I came upon that same section and saw it was forbidden.

However i did the same and immediately i had motor police officer on my tail.

First he said we had to go to police station for a fine, then stopped in an alley and i could pay him !

So he had been waiting for that moment, the thai passed and i got a fine for the same thing.

Some days later, by coincidence i saw him picking up another farang, the farang wasnt wearing a helmet (i guess)

and drove into the same alley, probably for same fine of 500 baht, for helmet.

Easy money for the police officer again.

Thai arent bothered in normal ways. Only when police are in special actions, then they have too.

You could force the officers to have 100 fines/month on Thai people, that would be working, as they HAVE to show it. If not then a cutdown in salary.

Here with police it s also in their job descriptions. When they pick you here, they try to find as many possible violations, so you can have several fines at one time.

yeah I don't know how they get away with collecting tea money, I live what you call the nanny state

(after living many years in LOS) Every body and I mean every body gets fined the same.

no matter what color you are or nationalities. If the officer offers you to pay a fine in cash

you can sue him (or her) for corruption. I understand the cops are not paid very well i fantasy land.

A cop over here gets paid 60.000 AUD on average but they do really work for it and don't sit

in police boxes (which we don't have here) So it all comes down to the embedded corruption

in fantasy land. And after my rant I will get hundreds of Thai apologists to bombard me.

They're different. The USA has a shockingly high rate of deaths from covid19. The comparison is a way of dramatising that. Comparing covid deaths to road deaths in Thailand serves no useful purpose, except to highlight how shocking those numbers are, which we already know.

correct one can not compare Thailand's maniac drivers.

Yea right Yaba turns people into murderers. Do you have any idea how much of this <deleted> is being consumed. They find millions upon millions of those tablets with checks. We can assume that this is only a minor part of what is sold. So there are countless users but almost no murders attributed to it. So its safe to say that 99,9% of the people can use it without becoming killers.

It goes something like this if your an <deleted> in life your a bigger one on alcohol and or yaba or whatever other drug changes your inhibitions even goes for steroids some people become complete idiots when they use it while others have no problem. Its quite easy to blame the drug without knowing if he took it or just took alcohol. Even if he took the drug it does not change someone in a killer without something seriously being wrong already. Drugs just bring out stuff that is already there.

You yourself admit you dont know how it works. I do know how it works I did my share of drugs in the Netherlands so I got a pretty good idea how drugs work.

the only information we have is an article... we believe it 100% and we would actually sentence this guy to DEATH based on reading one article.

This is why we are the biggest sheep ever.....

This is why we always believe the media and never question anything...

don't worry, i wouldn't defend this guy AT ALL....but i'm simply stating the fact that we don't think....we read, believe, and judge.  then get mad and say the media lies

Note:  I understand the article says he confessed.  But, again, we know forced confessions happen and we know people say others confess and they don't.  maybe this is a bad example for my rant.....since he certainly seems guilty...but let's not condemn him to death until he sobers up and gets a lawyer and has a trial.

    can't you read? he confessed.....
