Boyesen do make good products. A thank you letter goes a long way. Bike now sounds a flyer. You will be taking on Lamkin soon.

^ Bike , or son ?.

Hi guys. I think i worded my thoughts badly. Lets have another go. If both bikes are the same height ( and it now seems the X-plore is 10mm higher ) then fitting the larger X-cross wheels on to the X-plore , will make it even higher. Maybe 50mm front and 13mm rear. Not ideal for riding off-road. Dropping the forks through the yokes will sort this. If the rear needs altering then pre-load the shock a touch. Cheaper than grinding some off , or replacing with a shorter one. X-plore will be a very good bike around town , sticky tarmac tires , wide bars , good road view and the reason i bought a Platinum instead of a Lifan , a standard pattern gearbox.

Both engine types are designed to "cope" with high temperatures , however the liquid cooled bikes seem to "cope" better. As they are more expensive they are often fuel injected and give better economy and service life. Have a look at the Yamaha Exciter , or the other Yamaha models.

Depending on if you buy new with a warranty , and require a dealer nearby , or second hand and will service it yourself - not difficult to service with fairly basic tools. The Lifan X-Cross 200 , Keeway Enduro E 200 or Platinum PX 250 will all be fine. I bought a Platinum PX for use as a "town bike" and its perfect on road tires , but the bikes comes with 17" front and rear wheels as standard , and its not too easy getting aggressive off-road tires in those sizes. Keeway has 19" front and 17" rear , LIfan has the wildly available off-road sizes of 21" front and 18" rear. Due to this , if your going to be riding in mud , and will always use off-road / dual-sport style tires , i would lean towards the Lifan. Please keep us posted.

Seedy , id be the same with a spider.

What i meant by "if everything is the same" was IF the seat heights were the same ( you say the X-plore is 2 CM taller , which i dont dispute ) the extra height the wheels gives is an easy fix , if needed. When i used to hire a X-cross , i found the seat very poor , so i would be modding this anyway.

In the Eighties , Jaguar fitted a small fan to the housing compartment where the battery was fitted. Could a fan on a timer work.
-
The X-plore has 17" wheels F = R , X-cross 21" F and 18" R. So rear height will be about 1/2" higher , front about 2" higher , if everything else is the same. Dont forget one doesnt need to be as low , to foot the bike through tricky sections , when on the road. Forks pulled through yokes 2" and seat re-shape is 1,000 Baht.

Had "something" fly into my lid when on the tracks of Chiang Mai. You have never seen someone drop a bike and remove a helmet so fast !. No sting though. Scary as it sounded very angry. As much as possible i kept my eyes closed. With an off-road lid the front is open , so goggles or glasses ( clear and tinted ).

No problem. The Motul 5100 is a very good S S oil that will be more than suitable for most bikes when changed once per year. The 7100 is F S ( 100% ) , whilst the 300 V "Factory" oil ( 100% F S ) has double the amount of Ester long chain molecules Ive seen the 5W 30 version of this oil for over 2,500 Baht PER LITRE !.
-
Oils that have a bike picture and / or the JASO ( MA ) logo on the rear are made for wet clutches. Motul 5100 is technosynthese oil ( molecular cracked ) which sits between S S and F S. Motul7100 is F S. Go for the 10W 40.
-
Although the fully synthetic oil will still be OK after 3,000 Km , it is a year old , and will be contaminated , mainly with water from condensation. Fully S is only a couple of hundred Baht dearer than Semi S. I think its nicer if you plan to keep the bike to change once per year , with Fully S. Motul is a favourite , or Shell.

Use of G95 increased by over 21% because E20 and E85 is only cost efficient in a very small number of vehicles if you factor in its poorer gas mileage. The long term efects of 20% Ethanol is still unknown.
-
You will need to try to factor in the new bar width , and if they are canted more towards the rider. Dont be tempted to re-route the cables to gain a little extra. All things being the same , i would say 1" - 1 1/4" ( 25-32MM ) would be about it

There was a thought it was based on an older Yamaha R6 engine ( this was mentioned in the Benelli owners club magazine ) but it seems not to be the case as BKKRichard has pointed out too the timing chain position being different. 300 twin and 250 single are of Italian design. 94,900 is a cracking price. There is also a 250 Benelli super motard in the wings. With the release of this engine , the motard cant be far off.

As much as we love and care for our friends , we cant "dress" them every day. A visit to a main hospital on a Saturday - or any - night , may knock / shock some sense into him. I love riding , but i know there are added dangers involved. I sweat my ass of with my kevalr jeans , jacket , gloves and full face helmet , but i figure its better to leak sweat , than blood.
-
The engine is a 400cc FI single that is based on the 500cc carbed Honda XBR engine , that also had twin exhaust ports / pipes.
-
You wont "look a mug" giving 500 , but be careful of setting a benchmark for yourself. Maybe check the bill first then decide. 200 - 300 seems about right for these types of smaller jobs as i figure 100b / HR.

I knew of the name , found his avatar , yes , same man , really nice poster. Great loss. RIP seems to little. Now his Honda has real wings , ride on bro.

Have re-posted the story.

Has anyone else managed a test ride , or seen one in the flesh. Is January the due release date.
-
I believe they are "full" / farang size 2 seater. Havent seen one in the flesh yet. Search TV or Google.

Nice One. Great to see it coming together , amazing , considering your workshop !. Your attention to detail will make this bike really stand out. Not rushing will pay dividends later.
. Can you build a shed in your parking space to keep things together when you move downstairs ?.

I think the swingarm runs a round steel bar , in a sleeve. No bearings. Maybe grease nipples can be fitted.
