This fairly bizarre incident could have easily been resolved by simply opening the hood. The vast majority of new cars just simply have lever mechanisms that are not electronic, which leads to a latch under the hood at which point they could have simply applied bumper cables to the battery, and unlocked the door. It would appear to me that somebody did not have their thinking cap on, and it would also appear that this was quite an overreaction to a situation that was less than an emergency.

Also, who would sit in their car and leave their air conditioner running without leaving their engine running? I've certainly never done that, and if you're leaving your engine running your battery is charging, so just another aspect of the situation that is bizarre at best.

Jump to battery or jump to live post if the battery is in the trunk.

  2. Ignoring the rally model , i thought there were 3 models. Red with abs , red without abs and grey (abs unknown). It seems im wrong. The thai models , for sale in Chiang Mai , dont have abs. None of them. This seemed true after several visits to Honda showrooms in CM. A salesman did , however , let slip the 2025 models have it. What models , we dont know. He was quickly shut down by another salesman. Was he wrong , or are they just trying to sell the "old" models first ?. Just need to decide whether to order one now or wait untill the 2025 models specifications are confirmed. Elswhere in some other countries the models do have abs , and the rear can be turned off. On the fly or not i dont know.

Excellent reviews on Stallions which are Mash bikes in Europe on Youtube--most have never ridden them here and are racist and will never try one. Google some MASH reviews lots online and many happy users in Europe/UK. Ignorance is not bliss and yes i own and love my Honda too.Check out KOVE bikes fr what China has coming next, they will be the next Japan of innovative bikes.

KOVE bikes have being receiving fantastic reviews from many testers , however ive been in touch with them (very professional response) and sadly there are no plans as of yet to import into Thailand. Maybe they need to be sure of a decent customer base , before commiting to opening dealerships. The Mash bikes seem to get good reviews if your after a stylish cruiser type bike.

Anything above pH 7 is alkaline. Some coolants have triethanolamine as a buffer agent, which raises the pH to 8.

I seriously doubt alkaline pH is the cause of the attack on the "glue", it's far more likely organic compounds such as ethylene glycol are responsible for the glue being degraded.

Trust me, I was a chemist before I morphed into a research scientist.

Modern antifreeze/coolants have OAT technology (organic acid technology) so they no longer taste sweet , to prevent accidental consumption. Older vehicles may not be suitable to this newer stuff , including the dreaded Ethanol.

    Killer story.

    Have you written a book?

A book . Good idea.  I remember when the "Grey imports" came out. There was even a monthly magazine dedicated to them. Bikes you couldnt get in England. The biggest shop seemed to be BAT motorcycles. A friend bought a NC 30 from DK motorcycles (Stoke ?) and asked me to ride it home to Solihull. Went rather well. The willingness to rev and the razor like handling sets these small race replicas apart from the more agricultural bikes.  The Tiger would have been an excellent choice too.

  6. Hello all. I will be returning to Chiang Mai in April. I usually stay for 2 months , but this time intend to stay for 3 months. Would it be easier to get a 90 day visa in the UK (if possible) or should i get my usual 60 day visa , and extend it once i arrive ?.  If so . how do i best do this. Also , do i book the return flight the same time as the outbound flight. Ie , up to 90 days later. Im concerned if i dont get the extra 30 day extension , i will have to re_book the return flight. Many thanks.
