  1. Thanks for all the information. It's good to hear some people release the little guys for merit.

I can't say I'm not sickened that some people could cook any living, feeling creature alive, culture or not. There are many humane ways to kill food, and I can't comprehend how somebody could boil something alive without thinking of the pain and suffering of that creature.

so i gather you dont like lobster?

  2. Sedating Kids On Long Haul Flights

The fun begins when you need to evacuate the aircraft in an emergency. Same-same for the adults who've drunk themselves into oblivion.

a friend and his mother boarded a flight from LA to jo burg, each took a halcyon and had to be wheelchaired off when the flight did not take off due to a mechanical issue they could not manage to fix.

  3. another thing that would help is exposure compensation, the pic with the angry cloud man in it is over ecposed, you should be able to adjust your exposure using exposure compensation plus or minus.

I tend to always slightly underexpose, it is much easier to bring the exposure up in post than it is to fix a blown highlight.

So when i accidentally hit a button and an annoying --2--1--0++1++2 screen appears when i take pictures is the exposure option?

I found it AEB. Thanks!!! I also see now how i can use this option in combination with darker or lighter scenes.

    I owe you 1 candypants.

    Believe me I am serious.

cheers. glad you are figuring it out, clouds at at pai is a nice image by the way

you can also play with vibrance and clarity (in programs like lightroom)

    your original:

    post-173096-0-42224200-1368887623_thumb.

quick edit to reduce the blown highlight a bit and push clarity and vibrance

  4. Just had dinner with the kid at Angel City.

I had the french dip, which has always been a favourite comfort food of mine.

While it may not be anywhere near the best french dip i have ever had, it is the ONLY one i have ever seen on a menu in Thailand (in 15 or so years).

I enjoyed it thoroughly and will be back next time im hungover.

the 99 bat kids menu was good, and when they slathered the kids pancake with syrup -- which she does not like -- they remade the pancake without a complaint.

Place was dead, but billie holiday and miles davis on the juke box made the mood for this this somewhat grey and rainy saturday.

will be back. great decor, hope it survives

  5. I know a few posters personally and that is OK. Others I know who they are but they don't know who I am and I never never use that information in a post responding to any thing they post.

But to let every one on here know who I am personally no way. I have already had one PM threaten me in a PM that If I didn't agree with him he would tell some things about me. This is a very prominent poster and I wonder if others have gotten the same threat. There are many posters here who I don't always agree with but i am sure they are fine people.

Has any one any knowledge of semper I don't see him any more?

    Banned.

shouldnt be hard to spot, look for a poster with less than 110 posts that total less than 330 words and you will have your man.

given the amount of time he spent grassing up other resurrected posters, one would hope he is exercising caution whomever he may be

  6. I suggest he reads this story and sees if his situation is similar:

    http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/528145-phuket-atm-scams-even-professionals-get-caught-out/

PS. For 10 baht a month, I get an SMS message when any money is removed or added to my account.

For another 10 baht, I get an SMS message when ever my Internet banking account is logged in.

It does sound useful, but I'm genuinely wondering how much good it would do? I guess you can immediately cancel the card from further withdrawals to avoid the whole account being emptied - but what about that first withdrawal?

Is there anything SCB would do about that?

I found SCB totally useless when I had my card stolen and used fraudulently to take 20k out of my account - thankfully that's all that was in there - 2 years ago. Had a police report to prove my wallet was stolen before the transactions were made but SCB refused to cancel my card when I went into the branch the moment it opened as I couldn't give them my account number (I was on Samui and didn't take my Bangkok branch bank book on holiday) and they "couldn't find me" on the system!!

The thief even made 2 transactions at stores on Koh Samui and Koh Phangnan within 5 minutes of each other - SCB couldn't tell me how the thief managed that either. Never got any money back. UK credit cards were also stolen and used in the same way, money was instantly refunded after a phone call. The fraud department were supposed to 'work together' with Samui police....obviously that was futile.

So, just wondering if notifying them as soon as you get the SMS would help? Honest question, no hint of sarcasm (I know what people are like on here!)

My ATM card is purely an ATM card. It is not a credit or a debit card for the exact reasons you illustrate.

and if skimmed that would not make a bit of difference

  7. What is deodorant?

And why don't I have any friends?

    T

I think we met on the BTS yesterday. And the day before ... and the day before that. biggrin.png

So you're that guy who's always sniffing me. smile.png

What is it, some kind of fetish? I don't mind, but at least you could introduce yourself and buy me a drink.

    T

not until you invest in some deodorant

  8. Over the years I have noticed that many Thais will not accept a monetary reward for an additional service or honesty but will happily accept a gift (mainly food) often of lower value.

The gas man who lugged a full cylinder up 10 floors during the floods (we had no mains power [so no lifts] in our condo for 6 months) wouldn't accept a tip, but he and his assistant happily slurped a couple of cold Changs.

Is this a cultural thing or have I just been lucky with the people I meet and interact with?

    nope, it is the norm.

  9. those are about 75,000 for a full system or 30% of the cost of the bike.

wont be 30% on a real benelli

Are you saying because they are made in china they are not real? Iphones are made there and some are real///

    http://www.qj-group.com/english/

iam saying this because i doesnt look like benelli have anything to do with these moldes from china, if it were at least build under benellis supervision. So its a chinese bike with a benelli sticker on it which may isnt too bad for its price but not my cup of tea. Real Benellis are coming from itlay or at least from a factory under Benllis supervision.

    then why list it here?

    you get the idea

  10. I have True-visions satellite coverage and they cut it off at midnight of your last day if you should forget to pay it. Then they charge you a 100 baht fee to re-start it. I seriously doubt if you have had ANY unpaid service in your absence.

It is highly unlikely they will do anything should you return, particularly with a new passport.

    finally the voice of reason.

dead passport, no service recieved don't pay a dime

i highly doubt this would have any effect on you contracting for new service under a different passport at a different address.

i really don't understand the rest of the posters on here who make out you have a moral obligation to pay them a cent.

  11. Would you prefer the light-hearted, funny Naam, or the in-your-face, condescending Naam? He actually amuses me either way.

I don't understand either of them, she has an inane sense of humor. BTW it's a she not a he.
Naan's a woman? Have you told him? Or his wife? I can imagine they'll both be quite stunned.

    SC

last time i looked down i had a pecker. to be on the safe side i will check again and report the findings whistling.gif

being of germanic descent, i am surprised you can look down and see it. so few holed up in pattaya still have that ability

  12. So again a tragedy is used as a stick for ignorant people to generalise a race of people. This happens all over the world, and often whilst the child is under the care of it's parent/s. So I guess somehwere like the states or the U.k is really full of hypocrites as we assume that "parents really love their kids"

Spring/summer period in the States this happens roughly once a week. In Europe during Winter you can add hypothermia deaths to the Summer Hyperthermia deaths.

As for "This little boy wasn't left in a car though. He was in a bus under the supervision of 'professionals'."

Yes as were 52% of the children in the U.s stastics.

Australia, France, Britain all report these deaths.

But hey don't worry about it just keep ranting and posting your ill informed tripe as long as it makes you feel racially superior.

while many here are generalising against thais, i would like to point out that i am outraged simply at the unnecessary and stupid death of a child. i could not care less where that child came from or the nationality of the person responsible.

furthermore, as my child is thai, i do not wish to tar all her countrymen with the same brush as that is equally depressing.

what i would like is someone to learn from this and ensure that it can not happen again,
