  1. It seems an unusual rule and I wonder if a superior officer would overrule that requirement.

There was a girl at a desk who checked everthing and then asked, buy or rent? I said rent and was then told the receipt wasn't enough. I appealed this and was directed to an officer who looked like he was the superior. He was the one who said I need a 6 month contract.

It's crazy. This has never been requiired before.

interesting, i have been in the same house for 12 years and never received a receipt or had a contract, lt alone been asked to show one.

  2. The messenger always gets shot...............eventually.

i would be willing to take the bullet if the child is truly neglected.

i certainly hope someone would step up for my child, though she will never find herself in that position

that said, i chose a good partner, something few here seem to do if all the stories are to be believed

  3. they are not venomous, will not attack unless provoked (they can be really nasty though), their saliva is not like that of the komodo dragon (or common monitor for that matter)

they are, in my opinion very useful to have around

    tokai-and-scolopender-3-72.jpg?w=567&h=7

there are about 10 sharing my house on koh phangan with me, and they will venture indoors whenever they can, but they avoid humans and always make their way back outside.

the only downside is they shit like crazy, and the turds are not small.

this is not my photo but i have witnessed a couple of centipede/tokay battles and they can get bloody.

    the tokay won both times

  4. The Thai interpretation of the incident:

We all feel sorry for the LB. Poor fella on high heels having spent so much for fake tits, goose removed and skin whitened. It is all the Russian's fault; if he would not have been in the country the incident would have never happened. We desperately need a working committee including the mayor of Pattaya, the big chief of the province, one or two ministers spearheading the protection of thieving LBs.

    Am I missing anything?

Yes. The source of this "Thai interpretation" you have provided.

Oh dear, I have vowed not to be naughty on TV so let's just assume that you missed the point of a joke?

Sent from my iPhone using ThaiVisa app

    nah, it just wasnt funny.

  5. one of them took my mates toe, one bite and gangrene set in, more aggressive than a centipede, certainly more painful.

one of the few animals in thailand that scare me. apparently they have more toxic bacteria in their mouths than the kimodo dragon

  6. Well they are the most ridiculous idea that leads to either jumping lights or racing to get through

Maybe a falang just got appointed to the highways committee and is leading a common sense debate

indeed, because farang are so well remarked for their common sense, especially while here in Thailand.

god bless those silly thais, they are pretty darn cute, but they would be lost without us.

Certainly seems like - at times... Service people never show up on time. Workers go to work late, etc. My stepkids won't do anything that doesn't have instant use - planning is not in their vocabulary.

too true, we are just better.

  7. Raging Russian?

Someones going for a Pulitzer prize.

indeed, i beleive google translate has the byline.

the highlight for me is this bit from the daily news 'article':

Mr. Na confessed that he really yanked the victim’s necklace, but he didn’t think that the Russian would capture and beat him until he could not escape.

so it appears that getting her ass handed to her on a platter was not part of the plan.

    poor dear

  8. Rumor has it, Makro going to be in Chaloklum within 5 years! wink.pngtongue.png

As for the location of Big C or even Tesco for that matter, it depends where you live, not so good for those up the west coast or north end! whistling.gif

that would be an utter disaster of apocalyptic proportion. Keep the commercialization on the road between thongsala and haadrin, chaloklum is charming as it is.

  9. Sorry but this is a rubbish article the way it has been written. If it has a point put it in third person and report it as an interview.

In that case, take it up with the source of the article rather than post here:

    http://www.nationmultimedia.com/contactus/

Thai Visa does not write the news articles.

Nice try, but that does not allow an individual, or an commercial entity to avoid responsibility for actively disseminating the article. You do realize that one not need be the author of an article or the sponsor of an act to be held liable for the damage such an article or an act causes. Your argument is akin to web hosting companies for some questionable groups that argued, hey don't blame us, we didn't put the content up. It didn't work for them, and it doesn't work as an argument for you now.

I appreciate that every website needs content, However, just as one does not post all of the Nation's articles, it perhaps might have been in good taste and decency to have given this article a pass too. Freedom of expression is an important right. However, along with it goes the responsibility of behaving appropriately.

you alone in this thread seem to be offended by this article though when asked to explain why it is so offensive, you resort to scatalogical imagery.

you cite the nations track record where the sex trade and prostitutes are concerned, but the article seems to offer no insult to prostitutes, instead it takes a poke at hypocrisy in government, politics and spin doctoring.

your distaste for this article is apparent, but the reasons for it are in no way obvious.

  10. Incredible to see this! However he does note that the girls could bring the country to its knees with a work stoppage. At least he is aware of the true backbone of the Thai economy. Hats off to the girls. The author would be well served to read Private Dancer and get the real dialog and style down. But at least he is facing the facts.

i would suggest that prostitution is not the real backbone of the thai economy, and go so much further to add that anyone who cites private dancer as a source of authority is pretty difficult to take seriously

^As mentioned, the reason the insurance companies don't put up a fuss about this, is there is no way to enforce it. I guess they could visually inspect each vehicle, but then they would lose customers. The way they do it in the US is the insurance would lobby for the law, and they would get it, which was done with seat-belts. There is just no way for them to effectively do any of that here though.

one would think insurers would embrace it.

A claim comes in, one look at the car and the insurer is not liable.

  12. Talcum powder? Flour?

Hard to describe any substance as "harmless" when it's nasally snorted by a 3 year-old.

hard to imagine any way to snort a substance other than 'nasally'.

the hair tests are the way forward, how much time has lapsed since the video was posted?

still pretty twisted game to play if it were a harmless substance, but not nearly as reprehensible if it was indeed a joke.

  13. I think most mens preference would be for a Thai lady tbh but you could try your luck on some of the known dating sites for men. Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2

thank heaven that there are those of us that just like women, period.

i can imagine saying, you are lovely, but i would prefer a thai.
