1. I think that many farm animals are treated very well - it's not all about producing the cheapest meat. That care also extends to the culling process. It's not all about barbaric, painful and slow deaths. For me, it's important to rear and care for an animal in the best environment (ie not mass-produced chickens etc) - and then cull it as quickly and as painlessly as possible.
2. Mao Khao beach is not a good place to swim. I lived in that area for many years, walked along that beach thousands of times, but would only ever sit in the shallows. The beach slopes down quickly in the water, definitely not a safe place to swim, (and also very quiet with little chance of calling out to others for help).
3. You clearly haven't been a long-term visitor to this forum!! 🙂
4. Not only protein, but also many essential minerals. From a random Google: "one survey suggests around 28% of vegans and 13% of vegetarians show one or more nutrient deficiencies. This is because many plant-based diets don't contain high levels of certain nutrients, such as vitamin B12, omega-3 fatty acids, iodine, calcium, selenium, iron and zinc" A deficiency can also occur if you only eat meat. Humans are omnivores - check their teeth, incisors for cutting meats, molars for grinding leaves. We are not designed to only eat veggie/salads and nor are we designed to only eat meats. You need a well-balanced diet to ensure that you get the essential minerals for a healthy body etc. The alternative is to rely on supplements.
5. I have used 4G SIMs on various mobile networks in Thailand, Laos and Myanmar for my online teaching. It generally works OK. I know from experience that I get the fastest internet connection if I use a mobile router with LAN cable connection. Next fastest is using my mobile phone 4G SIM with USB tether and the slowest (but still fast) is using a wifi connection to my router or mobile phone. Now I think it's time for me to 'up my game' and buy a SIM router that uses a 5G SIM and provides ethernet connection to my laptop. I have 2 questions: - Can you suggest (weblink) a suitable SIM router? Preferably a router that ships from Thailand. - Can you suggest the package name for unlimited 5G (dropping to 4G if necessary) prepaid SIMS for AIS, DTAC and True? I usually have a data package from 2 different mobile networks, in case one of them goes down! Thanks
6. Thanks for your comments Sheryl. Actually, I was buying Xatral when I was in Laos because that was all that the pharmacy had... I will have to check out your links. I am currently in Pattaya sorting out my retirement visa, so I might check up on the price to buy 6 months supply of a generic.
7. Well, some Chinese products are cr*p and some are very good and great value-for-money. I need to ask some of the old guys in Pattaya who ride disabled e-trikes for their opinion. (They might not actually be disabled, maybe just lazy lard-buckets...)
8. Too basic! I need a trike that can carry lots of shopping bags and has a squishy seat, not a knife that disappears up your jacksie. Rural roads are exactly the same as city roads >> sealed roads, I'm not going off-road.
9. I would be living in rural locations (maybe Khanom, Koh Lanta etc, but with good roads, not muddy tracks). I have no problems to get a Por Ror Bor etc. I find the police in Thailand, Laos and Myanmar generally either ignore me or beat a hasty retreat when they see me shouting 'have you seen my parrot squark squark!!' - seems to scare them away, don't know why...!
10. Sounds good! What about the various e-trikes advertised on Shopee and Lazada from China. They claim 1,000W 48v battery, perhaps 50km range between charges etc. Cost about 15,000 baht. Are they cr*p? BTW, I'm not 'disabled' yet, but just planning ahead. I know that my wonky foot will get worse in the future, so I'm trying to cost out an e-trike, reliability etc etc. @scubascuba3, Yes, I could buy a Thai 'salang',but well... it's not my style! I do have standards to keep up don't you know ol' chap 🙂
11. If that's a legal requirement then of course!
12. I've been riding petrol motorbikes since the age of 14. Now at 65 years old, and with a wonky bunion that is making it a little difficult to walk/jog as well as before, I am (sensibly IMHO) considering the purchase of an e-tricycle, since I assume my ability to walk/jog won't improve as a get older! Additionally, when I start to receive my UK state pension, just 12 months from now, I will have a limited monthly budget (if I finally stop teaching science online). I could run a car, I could have a petrol motorbike, I could have an electric bicycle or I could have an e-tricycle (I enjoyed horse-riding many years ago but it's probably not a realistic option for trips to Big C...). Which works out as good value for money, and would enable me to travel around, carry shopping etc? I value my independence! I do not want to rely on taxis or win riders etc. That's why I'm thinking about an e-tricycle. I'm in Pattaya for a few weeks and I've seen quite a few older men riding these trikes. They seem to go at a reasonable speed, have room for shopping etc etc. So where's the catch!? I appreciate your thoughts and advice about buying an e-trike. Thanks
13. My BPH is managed just fine with a daily Alfuzosin tablet. I buy 30 tablets from whatever pharmacy happens to be near me,and the price does seem to vary from pharmacy to pharmacy. But since it's a medication that I need every month, it would make more sense to source the cheapest supplier in Thailand, preferably a supplier who can post the medicine to a regional address in Thailand. Can someone suggest a reliable supplier of Alfuzosin? Thanks
14. I think that 'pale green knitted T-shirt' looks awful. Has he no style? Gary comes from Leicester and so does his sponsoring company Next. I also come from Leicester and I'm happy to wear clothing that is more appropriate for this fair city.
15.
... Unfortunately he's found a set of really thick people in Clacton who are going to vote him in this time ...
Ah, so really thick people shouldn't be allowed to vote?
16. Thanks - the main problem I have is that the biggest demand for my science lessons etc comes from mainland China. Perhaps I should investigate Youku instead....
17.
... She left her keys in the bike so it was bound to be stolen by someone ...
Why?
18. Hmm, you mean we should eat them without slaughtering them first? That does sound pretty disgusting!
19. Can anyone give any $ information for what you can earn with original material? Suppose you make 200 videos, all with original material. How do you monetise this? Do you need to simply have viewers, or do you need subscribers to your channel or... or? I ask because as I get older and older, I was thinking of placing my primary grade science videos onto YouTube. I create all the content myself and each video for each science topic is about 60 minutes long. It covers the complete school science curriculum from grade 1 to grade 5, typically about 35 videos per grade. Judging from the demand for my paid online science lessons, I can imagine that many young students would jump at the chance of viewing this content for free. Your thoughts.... and advice!
20. I lost nothing - Wise refunded the total amount and sent me a new debit card. I manually froze that card because Wise again activated before they sent it by standard post (Doh!!). That card was of course stolen again, but since it was frozen, no money was taken 🙂
21. I left my old khaen in Laos (that sounds like the title of a sad ballad!) I need to buy a new one here in Pattaya. Is there a music shop that sells these - not tourist 'junk'? Thanks
22. Oh yes, and I've just bought my first mobile phone... 🙂
23. If you have been living in northern Thailand for 12 years, why have you never posted on Thailand's most expat forum? Why is your very first post of this type, no 'Hi I'm new here' post, just straight into a lengthy post about your problems. Just asking....
24. She was the mother of the couple who stole from the ATM 🙂
25. Lol, haven't seen semen for years - thanks to retrograde ejaculation. But why would I need this when I already have a bacterial sensitivity test results? E.Coli has always been the only bacteria found.
