  1. Alprazolam was prescribed by a doctor at BKK's most prestigious hospital (according to them) when I asked for something to sleep easier and longer. That was some 5 years ago. Unwilling to pay their exorbitant charges on a regular basis I found a pharmacy In Pattaya who sold me a sleeve of 10 tablets for 180 baht. Since 1mg is more than I need to get a solid 8 hours in, I break the tablets in half and this dosage suits me just fine. I no longer stare at the ceiling long into the night listening to the snores of her that does the ironing. I take medication to control my blood pressure and take a blood pressure reading every morning 30 minutes after taking my magic pill. I have noticed a definite correlation between the amount of rest that l have had and my blood pressure reading.

Last week a doctor at the hospital that I now use rather than the BS palaces masquerading as caring hospitals prescribed a 3 month supply for which I paid less than half the unit price that I was previously content to pay. He did warn me that they were addictive but I was able to reassure him that I did not experience any craving for the medication and that if I felt that this was the case I would come to discuss the matter with him. Raspberries to the misguided and apparently misinformed Thai Government, I now have a 6 month supply.

Her that does the Ironing? Wow, you got off lucky, most I know are married to SWMBO. She Who Must Be Obeyed.

  2. In reply to 'Thailand Bound' in earlier post.

I have been told a number of times by my wife that if I have an accident here with a motorcycle then as I am driving a car then the police will say it is my fault irrespective whether I did anything wrong. Very frightening!!

Only two weeks ago a cousin of my wife, who is constantly drunk, left work to travel back to the village for a wedding. For some reason he was walking (staggering more likely) in the middle of a 4 lane road. He got hit by 4 cars. The last car that hit him stopped, the others didn't. The police wanted to charge the last driver with causing death by dangerous driving but in the end decided not to when a doctor examined what was left of the body and confirmed multiple hits.

Meanwhile the driver was expected to pay the man's family for his death. They are asking for 500,00B but he has offered 150,000B. He is refusing saying that he will instead spend 3 months in jail.

Though sad for the wife losing a member of the family even she agrees that the car driver was not in the wrong but says this is Thailand that's how it is.

Those who drive without 1st class insurance here in Thailand are taking a huge risk.

Thanks for replying, about the same as Indonesia only case I know where a motorcycle loses is turning right when over taking on the left here or car turning left with motorcycle over taking on the left going straight but that is only sometime when and if witnesses by a cop and even sometimes then. Damage to the car or not.

  3. I agree with the Thai government, as much as possible of these chemical shit products from Pfizer and similar companies must be banned. Chemicals in your body can never give you any benifit.

This sort of comment always baffles me - your body is made 100% out of "chemicals" - and even if you were to narrow it to "exogenous chemicals" then I would just have to wonder if you plan to never eat or drink anything.

Your body is not made of of synthetic chemicals. Therein lies the difference. Drugs of any description are usually a bandaid for the symptom rather than treat the causes. Drugs are usually modified natural substances and every man-made drug bar none, has toxic side effects. Can't see how anyone defends this shit (any drugs).

Sorry guys but i just have to reply to the two anti drug statements here, having suffered from grand mal seizures and their related effects for 10 years, finding a drug(not a benzo) that has stopped seizures for 12 years now and allowed me to live a life has been of enormous benefit and i will defend this so called shit to my death bed. The article does say that xanax can still be sold at state hospitals so is still available for those that have a medical need for it.

That would seem to be what has prompted the ban. See you in line at the hospital.

  4. So why is it three times more expensive to buy in Thailand?

This is not the only example , most European espresso machines are at least double the price in Thailand.

Something is very wrong here , I know about the import taxes but this is just ridicilous.

I just discovered this while shopping around for an HD projector. The high-end Epsons that are available in the states for around $1500-$2000 (45-60,000 baht) are going for well over 100 thousand baht here. That's absolutely insane.

And what is worse, none of the vendors here seem to be interested in competing against each other. I went to three different shops between Pantip and Zeer and got the exact same printed brochure showing the exact same MSRP's at all three shops. In the US you would have numerous retailers all offering rock-bottom prices (thanks in part to the heavy competition from e-stores) and throwing in incentives to get the sale. No so here.

Anyway I refuse to pay that much of a mark-up. I'll have one carried-in from the states and risk paying the duty at customs (yeah, right).

I would assume that these expresso machines and projectors and whatever else that are sold by different vendors with roughly the same ridiculous price probablty have but only 1 distributor and these sole distributors are the ones causing the expensive solutions to your needs. With these kinds of things if you cannot prove you bought the machine from their specific vendors then they either refuse to service it or charge you your first born child to fix it.

The owners of these sole distributors have seen there is a new "S" class or a new "E" class MB coming out next year and just have to have it hence you pay for it. Besides a lot of these sole distributors also take the attitude of "If you can pay for it, You will PAY for it" attitude.

  5. It really does not look good for the Gold...

The Gold Coast has replaced the outer south-west Sydney regions of Fairfield and Liverpool as having the highest proportion of home owners more than a month behind on their mortgage repayments.

The Gold Coast east market (including Surfers Paradise and Broadbeach) ranks as the worst-performing region, with a delinquency rate of 2.44%. The Gold Coast west (suburbs including Nerangand Carrara) ranked second, with a delinquency rate of 2.08%, according to the latest Fitch Ratings Australian Mortgage Delinquency report for the six months to September 2012.

The two markets ranked fifth and sixth in the March 2012 Fitch report have improved in line with the national trend, but not at the same pace as other regions.

At its current delinquency rate, the Gold Coast east region would have ranked as the eighth worst performing region in Australia six months ago (March 2012 report)

    .

But demonstrating that tourism-dependent regions have not benefited to the same degree as other parts of the country from interest rate reductions and improved affordability, the Sunshine Coast ranked fourth most delinquent region with a 30 days-plus arrears rate of 1.89%. The NSW central coast market ranked sixth, with a delinquency rate of 1.81%.

All are well above the national delinquency rate, which improved from 1.6% at the end of March 2012 to 1.4% at the end of September, to be currently significantly below the five-year average of 1.56%.

“Tourist areas are less affected by monetary policy and more by the high Australian dollar, housing prices, occupancy rates and rental yields,” says Fitch.

“This is evident in popular tourist destinations being among the worst-performing postcodes. “

On a postcode basis, the well-known tourist destination of Nelson Bay in the NSW Hunter region remains the worst-performing postcode by value of mortgages in arrears, with a 30+ day delinquency rate of 6.6%.

    fitchfeb6thumb.gif

In the previous March survey, Fairfield and Liverpool ranked as the worst-performing region in Australia, but in line with an improving outlook for the western Sydney market and parts of it being considered investment hotspots – granny flat conversions are growing increasingly prevalent– its delinquency rate improved from 2.82% to 1.82% and its ranking has fallen from first to fifth most delinquent market.

Similarly, the delinquency rate improved noticeably in the outer south-west Sydney region from 2.78% to 1.99% between March and September.

Another region on the western outskirts of Sydney, Blacktown, which was among the 10 worst-performing regions by value until September 2011, “continues to perform remarkably”, says Fitch, with a delinquency rate of 1.55% at the end of September 2012.

Fitch notes that most of the 10 worst-performing regions were in Queensland, not NSW, as was the case in March 2012.

“House price stagnation in Queensland particularly affected Gold Coast east − which has been among the worst performing regions since September 2008 − and the Sunshine Coast. Other regions in Queensland, which have been historically characterised by serviceability constraints, remained among the worst performing regions despite their remarkable improvement following cash-rate cuts.

“For example, delinquencies in Ipswich and Logan City, which started to increase at the beginning of 2011, have improved significantly (100bp and 91bp, respectively) in the six months end-September 2012,” says Fitch.

  6. pominic nardone does not sound like a british name but hey i dont think english ppl live there anymore lol

Stupid comment. British people have all sorts of names.

    What about these?

You give the wrong impression, pakeha is Mouri for a white person, not neccesarilly English.

That dam_n Wikipedia, it is getting to be you just cannot trust the dam_n site.

  7. Speaking of passport renewals, a few weeks ago, the US embassy did mine in exactly 2 weeks (10 business days). I did it before 9/11 and it took 20 minutes (back when the US embassies had the right to issue the passports themselves), I called ahead the day before, gave them my SSN, they checked it overnight and i was there the next day at 07:30. I was walking out before 8am passport in hand.

  8. When government starts controlling the wearing of skivvies, we really need to find them more to do..

    Seriously.........

plus its too hot to wear skivvies in TL. The "boys" need to hang free to stay cool. The production of the "swimmers" are affected by high body temps, so l say, "SET THEM FREE"! smile.png

Well travel carefully, I heard the Katoey division of the Police will setting up sidewalk blockades and they WILL be doing spot checks!!!

  9. Irish consulate in BKK have always been helpful and I only have dealt with the Thai staff. The answer the phones they call you when documents arrive and even call to the embassy in Kuala Lumpur to find out correct information. Of course getting things done is painfully slow as the documents are sent to Kuala Lumpur and then to Dublin and back again to Kuala Lumpur...well you get the picture.

Living the life luuxxxuury you are when dealing these embassies.

  10. I hope he is loaded. Can't believe he stopped. Not the Thai way at all. They'll learn...

if he has 1st class insurance he will be OK

What would you consider 1st class insurance, too cover you through thick and thin? I ask because I had an accident totalling my VW Touareg 1 1/2 years in Indonesia. It was quite feat I touched, grazed and side swipped 11 cars before running it smack dab in to a big oak next to the road. No I was not drunk, medical issues. But between the cars I hit and totally the Touareg Kurnia in Jakarta paid out over 170,000 USD. The the insurance group that Kurnia handles IHI/BUPA paid out over 1/2 million USD to GlenEagles Singapore for my 4 months stay. It was definitely not a good month for them or myself.

1st class insurance covers the police bail bond in Thailand for foreigners in case of accident, 200k baht from memory, plus fully comprehensive, medical etc of course their are limits but can be increased by paying for more cover. The insurance company representative does all the work on your behalf.

The issue in Thailand is some foreigners do not obtain the bail bond insurance so they have to negotiate with the police & must pay cash, otherwise they are detained. as well as negotiate directly with the friendly local police for victim compensation etc

Simple 1, thanks for the info, it will help when I get there and buy a car. Yes it would be better if the nice helpfu, police do not know i have access to that kind of cash otherwise the prices may go up in other parts of the same situation.

By the way to anyone here, what is the unwritten rule here regarding the bigger vehicle? What I mean is in Indonesia the when an accident occurs the larger car is at fault. Especially when idiots not paying attention driving smaller motorcycles are at fault and hit a car, 98% of the time the car is ruled at fault, pays all damages ect ect ect becuase oviously it is larger and that owner obviously has the larger wallet so.....

Does any ridiculous logic like that apply here on the roads here?

  11. I have Calvin Klein one from MBK. I'm very suave when I'm wearing them but you'd never know it.

I have Calvin klein form the made in thailand market.

Calvin Klein is a nice name if you understand German.....(Klein means small/short)

Well there you go, no wonder so many are ranting and raving about how good it is.

  13. It is still very popular and available on KAT with still 75 or 85 seeders as of last week. That is a lot seeders considering the first season came out in 1990 and the second in 1993.

I didn't check KAT, but just grabbed all 3 episodes of the mini-series quickly on piratebay. About 200 seeds, so good.

Don't know how many episodes are on PB but there are 4 episodes from Season 1 (1990) and 4 episodes from Season 2 (1993).

  14. The 2013 US version of House of Cards was 95% filmed in Baltimore Maryland. A member of a Mercedes forum I was once a member (until I was banned for pissing off the racist owner) has a thread where one of the members went to the cast call for extras on the show was cast for none speaking, head in the back ground shots. Here is the thread if anyone is interested.

    http://www.benzworld...sting-call.html

The guy goes by Digmenow on the forum but his real name is Tom.

I went crazy and watched all 13 episodes during this week until late, and I have to say that is one excellent series. The unique delivery method may be the start of something big. I noticed Spacey executive produced the series too, so it really is his baby, and it shows in the smallest details. Again, must-watch viewing for political junkies.

I finished up episode 13 last night around 11pm, it truly is an exceptional series, I read where Netflix appproved buy season 1 and 2 at the same time so all we can do is wait until next season.

Kemma did you see the original UK version of a House of Cards?

No, I didn't see the original but I will definitely go chase it up on torrents and watch!

  17. Also, I haven't brought my computer here.

I am surprised you can post here and how do you find out what is happening in the world and stay connected? There is more to life than Soi Cowboy and the EPL.

    blink.png

I just pointed out to Gaccha that the op didn't bring his/her computer to Thailand.

    BTW. What's Soi Cowboy?

Soi Cowboy? It is a fine road that runs parrallel to Sukhumvit between Soi 21 and Soi 23. Lots of fine Christian run study groups there on Soi Cowboy where they promote God, his wonderous world and all of God's female natural beauties.

  18. But will there be Gold coins?

Virginia coin moves closer to reality

Virginia Del. Robert G. Marshall fears that a financial apocalypse is coming and only one thing can save the Commonwealth: its own currency.

The thing about gold bugs is that they are intellectually lazy and copy and paste rubbish from every and any goldjunk website.

Their shallowness knows no limits. So now we have a fan of Robert G. Marshall. If you have any doubts that the forum gold bugs are anything other than thoroughly crass in their ideas read this about our 'new friend' Mr Marshall:

'When asked about abortion in the case of incest, Marshall replied that sometimes incest is voluntary. In response to abortions in the case of rape, Marshall said, "Your origins should not be held against you [referring to the victim's unborn child. The woman becomes a sin-bearer of the crime, because the right of a child predominates over the embarrassment of the woman." On Sept. 6th 2012, Marshall spoke at a press conference against state funding for Planned Parenthood. He blasted the organization for supporting a women’s right to choose, saying that 'God punishes women who have had abortions by giving them disabled children.'

I just choked on my green tea when I read this.

    sick.gif

If anyone can be bothered to look back at all your posts( in any thread ) they will find nothing more than drivel, insults and talking down to other TV members and you have the audacity to accuse others of being shallow?

    giggle.gif

So if gold bugs are intellectually lazy " oh wise one " , please explain how and when this mountain of debt around the world is going to be paid off?

    Over to you, Einstein

    huh.png

Hey it's the man with the golden touch, don't worry about Yoshi, he get's this way each time a Katoey put's her hand on his leg and it sends his ego over the moon.

So I am lazy and my Mom was punished for having me, a disable child? Nice to meet you too Yoshi.

More brilliance from new gold bug hero Robert G. Marshall:

Following Congress' repeal of the military's "Don't Ask, Don't Tell policy in December 2010, Marshall proposed a bill to "ban gays from openly serving in the Virginia National Guard because he is worried about service members catching sexually transmitted diseases from gay troops." According to the Washington Post, Marshall justified the legislation by saying: "If I needed a blood transfusion and the guy next to me had committed sodomy 14 times in the last month, I'd be worried," and "It's a distraction when I'm on the battlefield and have to concentrate on the enemy 600 yards away and I'm worried about this guy who's got eyes on me."

Yoshi, just because Mr. Marshall will not allow you to join the National Guard I am sure there are other exotic groups for you too join there in BKK. down in the Silom lower soi's area and the Bang Rak area. I beleive you already know what Google has told me today.
