  1. I had a package of some small electronic components, guitar strings and an effects pedal sent to me from the US. For some reason Thai customs is breaking my you know whats about this. I live in Khao Lak so Bangkok customs sent the package to Phuket. The most expensive thing in the box is a reverb pedal that I bought used for $75 from a friend. The price in Thailand new is around 5000 baht. The thing is the unit is made in Thailand. It is clearly stamped on the outside. To the best of my knowledge there is no import duty on an item that is brought back into the country of manufacture. There might be VAT but not import tariff. Does anyone know if this is correct and how I can prove it to customs? Thanks

  2. I currently have an extension of stay based on retirement. I have been offered a job and need to get a B visa. I need to pick up something in KL so logically it would kill two birds with one stone to get the visa there. I have two questions. I have heard that it can be difficult to get a visa in KL. Is this true? If so where is the best place. I live in the south. Secondly, I will be working as a scuba instructor and might want to change back to a retirement extension of stay after the season ends. Is this OK with immigration? Thanks.

  3. I took my gf to the states last summer. She got a 10 year visa without 100,000 in the bank. I don't have a clue if it helped but I wrote a letter stating that I was paying for the trip and that we were going to visit my family, etc. She is a nurse with a Bachelors degree and has been at the same private hospital for 14 years. Her opinion is that her job and her attitude were what got her the visa. Agin, I have no clue but I do know they are very suspicious and know of many women with iffy english and less serious jobs that have been refused.
