Been mulling it over and I'm pretty sure it was the parking assistants mate trying to wedge something into my ignition barrel.

Can't really do a lot as turning up and pointing it out will probably get very heated as I imagine if they are allowed to operate 5-8 am they are well connected.

I liked it until someone tried to steal my scooter last night.

Slightly less enamoured with the place right now.

I don't like the fact that everything comes down to money here.

We think we are targeted because we are falang but Thais are exactly the same with each other.

I am going through the same process with Bangkok Bank right now.

I used my UK bank card in the following Bangkok Bank ATM's:

Airport

Nimman

Santitham

I planned to withdraw 10,000 each time. It showed the transactions as going through but I received no monies.

Currently the UK financial ombudsman is dealing with this as my UK bank and Bangkok Bank have proved useless.

I am hoping to see some joy soon as it has been ongoing for a while and I am several hundred pounds out of pocket because of it.

I reckon its a scam either by Bangkok Bank or an ATM service person.

Put the key in the scooter today and noticed the ignition barrel seemed loose and you can now pull it out half an inch. It won't come out completely and stays in place.
Upon further inspection I noticed a green scuff mark against the ignition housing and the surrounding plastic where they had obviously tried to lever it out of place.
I only noticed it today but it is not so evident that it could have happened anytime in the last few days.
The only suspicious times I can think of is when I came out of a bar and one of the kids who parks the bikes had his friend sitting on it when I came out and they looked a little nervy which I thought strange but dismissed it. I can't really accuse them as I saw nothing but he was sat on it facing a wall which I thought strange and literally jumped off it when they spotted me approaching.
I am a bit disappointed as I have been here a year and this kind of thing makes one worry.
And no I have not pissed anyone off.

I got told by local friends that there are falang scammers here just walking about asking to borrow cash.

Sounds odd but believable.

Hi I currently do 2 months away working and 2 months back in Chiang Mai and am seriously looking into what businesses would be best.

The main problem is when I am away I am pretty uncontactable at times so this is the main problem.

I don't fancy having a bar as I don't fancy encountering all the problems alcohol brings.

For now I am stumped. All input gratefully appreciated.

Bought the iq6 phone and am more than pleased.

I have never even considered anyone but the largest brands but I am now hooked.

I live in Thailand, I don't go to places full of foreigners.

25 baht noodles very rarely come with an interesting conversation included old boy.

This to me is becoming very evident in every facet of life here.

I have been Thailand a year and consider myself to have only scratched the surface.

So why am I constantly having 'old hands' who visit for two weeks telling me how it really is.

Does this get anybody else's goat?

I have noticed this a lot since coming Thailand.

People sat near you ear wigging. Not intrusive but a bit rude.

Can't say I'm really that interesting but I do notice it here more from tourists than anywhere else.

The annoying bit is the people then discussing your conversation between themselves.

And you are proud of hitting an officer of the law?

Why are people proud to go to prison?

My French friend John lives in Emporium and he loves it which is quite a surprise as he is very picky.
