  1. seeing that you want to solder copper straps into sockets, why not try to do it with a small gas torch, using for solder flux Borax or Zincoxide. Could be the more convenient tool to use than holding a soldering iron onto the straps for a minute until the heat has dispersed evenly. Gas flame also melts the zinc rods quicker.

there are no sockets just welding spots, as i said before a torch is not an option. If i was able to get the flame down where it should be be it would fry the suroundings. Using a suficent soldering iron i will not need a minute, a second or twoo is enough and even it was doable with a torch i have acetelyn i stll want a simple soldering iron nothing else. This is far from the first starter im fixing.

  2. before i moved to thailand i lived in a typical high unemployment high crime small town paying a hideous high rent for a worn down apartment in a semi ghetto area, needless to say i am not of high class and do not need high standards to be comfortable. This amongst many other things makes Thailand close to perfect for me and i do not know of any other place that would be better so here i am. On top of this my health has improved due to climate here and i have a nice gf with a bitchy teenage daugther, i can afford to keep this family to a decent standard here. At the moment everything is very ok for me so why be somewhere else.

  3. Mail order is your best bet

Yes it seems to be that way sad.png i have asked and looked around a lot but the size i need are not stocked anywhere. As in mail order does that mean i have to import or are there any mail order companys here that could have?

I was going to suggest RS but they dont seem to have any @ 200w.

    What are you soldering ?

I do not know name in english but this is what i am going to solder right now.

It is in thight spot inside an old starter thingy for a car engine.

But i do miss decent soldering iron quite often.

  5. i have one real friend, he is back where im from. i consider him a real friend because he is the only one contacting me just to hear how i am. a couple of semi friends too but they only answer when spoken to first. one man here that might develope to real friendship, he is thai and apears not feel uncomfortable in any way around me, he even trusts me with his 6 month baby for short trips to some shop.

  6. they will fix your flat the same way they always do if not asked for something else, patching an innertube on wave is ok imo i would not do it on a Hayabusa though unless for urgent temp repair. Patching innertubes saves enviroment too if anyone cares.

About your landladys internet that is simply how many women behave towards technical things all over the world. i put things like that in big bag of acceptans inside my head.

Inner tubes on a Hayabusha - crikey!!!!

Yeah - that had me worried too. Even a plugged hole on the tubeless tyre of a performance bike is dangerous if you're pushing the envelope. Sticking a tube inside one would be lethal - do they even make tubes big enough for a 180/190?

OP - why did you push the bike? I just transfer the weight front or rear and ride the sucker. 30 minutes pushing the bike versus wrecking the tyre, and I'd rather wreck the tyre. Mind you, I've ridden a Click and a PCX for up to 4 klms flat and never wrecked a tyre yet.

off course they make tubes for that speed. i put tubes on all my bikes. having tubles on some bikes i would have to glue the tyre to rim for it to stay put and that will make it pizzer when its time for me to unmount. please explain why it would be lethal an innertube could extend lifetime expectancy dramaticly when hitting hard impact. just dont mount tubes in tubeless tyres and dont use the thicker tubes for motocross as they tend to heat up while maitaining high speed.
  7. Easy! i just compare it with the deaths in cardiac arrest that is the most common cause of death among middle age men where im from and my odds are better here.

Only so long as the risks of death by cardiac arrest have been completely avoided and not enhanced by the addtion of death by fall from balcony.

ok the balcony railings are scary

  8. The whiners were whining before they came too Thailand and now they have something new to whine about. Some people will only find the negative in every situation never looking for the positive.

For the assembled throng can you please illustrate the positives in the number of fatal traffic accidents.

Cardiac arrest is a feature of your eating and exercise habits (aka lifestyle).

Changing your location on the planet, is hardly likely to alter that.

it did for me and why did you leave out stress as a factor?

  10. Many here post only based on assumption they made, not on what I in fact posted, but what they assume I posted, I will no longer respond directly to these assumptions. As to deny a impartial definition of the word, that many posters love to hate, A word that means exactly the same as Farang is used in every country neighboring Thailand also refer to the same ethnic group in that fashion, that is a fact!.

For someone to dispute the definition of what the word "Farang" from an impartial dictionary and post to something I did not say, are not points for me to ponder. I can only state to what I believe, nothing more or nothing less.

Many do not want to be confused with facts, they will continue to believe what they will.

There is not a thing any one can say, that will change my love for my adopted country Thailand and its people. My experience of living in Thailand for over a decade with out any problems, clearly indicate I live in harmony with the Thai population of my Village. As a few posters from TV have visited my home and it is not any different than any other village in Thailand.

Expat's have to understand their way is not the way Thai people do things in their own country, things are done differently in Thailand, and that is the truth they will have to live with!

The negativity will continue, every day of their lives, they choose to remain in Thailand!

    Cheers:wai2.gif

Kikoman, don't be discouraged. Some of the folks you are arguing with are some of the most ignorant people on TV. I can't believe anyone out there still thinks that "farang" is an offensive word. That level of stupidity simply cannot be reasoned with. Farang is simply a descriptive Thai word and the Thais will not stop using it. Nor will I.

To me farang is just a word like motorbike or fridge, neither negative nor positive, the contex its used in though could be very good or bad.

  12. Thailand is classified as a newly industrialised country.

Yes this is by UN standards. And imo some of the countries in the crise crippled EU ought to be knocked down to 3rd world. Sorry to hear that the woman cant get decent health care, neither could i when i was back home last time. The nurse decided on phone that it was not urgent, this was in the begining of june and i could have an apointment in the end of august. I went to very expencive private clinic where i could a time instantly since there nurse there thought it was urgent on phone. I was in 5min diagnosed with pneumonia and was given antibiotiks for this. I knew i had pneumonia since i have had that more times then i can remember. But the nurse at the goverment hospital more or less told me that an idiot such as i could not know anything about that.

and mac my wife has planted the lot, bless her

and couldnt post a pic of house without my budgie aviery

    jake

Nice sturdy budgies too smile.png they english? looks a little bit like english budgies to me but there is not much to compare their size with in the picture. This gave an idea, wonder what other parakites i could find here too.

    thanks for your coments,

no mate there not english, but im trying to build up the size of them, ill get there, gives me another interest when im at home,

mac loves it, (thats my wife) shes just had another 3 leave the nest, she loves to see the different colours that we get,

im going to be on the lookout for soem caneries, but i think it will be a trip to bkk for them

    jake

You are very welcome. I can see that there is good work behind building them up, they look very strong and healthy, presenting them self with the same pride as an english budgie. I can well relate to joy that your wife are experiencing when the hatchlings leaves the nest, it is much rewarding.

I saw canaries in Nakhon Phanom, they were natrual colored not red ones, the natrual colored is said to be abetter singer though, do not know if that is true. I have allso seen Gould Amandine in Sukhumvit and if remeber correct Love birds in Khon Kaen.

Thank you for posting this and your reply. This is something I will explore further when i have a somewhat more permenant residence here in Thailand. Here i will be able to produce a decent enviroment compared to sad cage in a to dry swedish aparment where not even i can function anymore.

    Good luck!
