So about an hour to eat your hamburger and 90 minutes with the Poo. That leaves a lot of time. I have lived for almost 10 years in Khon Kaen and made several extended stays before that. I would have no desire to live anywhere else in Thailand. You better have something going for you in KK other than the above or else you'll end up in the bars a 8AM with a bunch of others and some of them don't look too happy about it.

you seem to to know the bar sceene pretty well at 8 am but dont worry you will be left alone from me with the real poo that i think youre quite able to atract because i dont drink. I dont live in kk and have no desire to do that but when i stay longer there you can find me down on nong wat road if you want to discuss my eating habits further.

yes yes thats the place, thought it was a nightclub though, but i have never been in there since im allways caught up in a conversation outside. Maybe i will check it out inside next time i go to kk for fun.

If you are around kk you could go to kosum phisai to watch the monkeys or king cobra village north of kk to see snake show. Mountains at loei, surin has elephants the options are many.

Nakhon Phanom is nice at the mekong river but very little english is spoken there. Mukdahan has been mentioned and is absolutely worth a stop, if you travel north from there to nakhon phanom a stop to look at temples in that phanom could be rewarding. Many Many things to see in Isaan.

Not a problem. The guy has Swedish citizenship, so asylum is moot. Basically he is home free unless Thailand asks for extradition and their charges don't carry the death penalty

The passport he traveled on might belong to someone with swedish citizenship, i dont now about the traveller. Sweden has no extradation treaty with thailand.

khon kaen is pretty boring for most, thats why you dont have many long term expats living here or a market for them.

People ask me: Why do I live in Khon Kaen, it's so boring. I answer: I like living in Khon Kaen because it's boring. If you want to live here, making it non-boring is up-to-you.

Khon Kaen isn't boring. I'm here now and the place is as happening as anywhere else - the bars are full of customers, I really don't see the difference between here and say Chiang Mai other than Chiang Mai having 2 Centrals (and one more under construction) more restaurants, more bars and more foreigners. If you mean boring because there aren't many westerners - who cares. Learn to mix with the locals. I hang out mostly with locals and I feel perfectly comfortable doing so.

I agree kk isnt boring at all.

Place outside Roma served me the best hamburger i had in Thailand, it tasted like burger king.

I suspect that for many a foreign man here, one of the most attractive qualities with Thai women - beyond the obvious aesthetics - is their apparent childishness; the potential for them to become reliant upon a man financially; to defer to his greater experience; to, put simply, need him.

There isn't a great deal of depth of character within the pool that so many guys insist on sourcing their mate from. Beyond a regular income, a place to live, a car/motorbike and the ability to pay their bills, there doesn't seem to be much ambition there and men who've had issues with Western womens' drive and independence can find what SEEMS like a more easy-going nature to be quite a draw.

In their minds, Western women are or have become less dependant on men over the years. Of course, there are plenty of financially/emotionally needy Western women back home but the requirements of a relatively attractive, young-ish woman in the US, UK or Europe would place a far greater strain on the fixed income of your average pensioner.

I dont know if you count sweden to eu but if you had idea how many single mothers we have that are so dependant on absolutly everything you would put in an exception for that. The so called independece you are talking about has made a great deal of women fat (over 50% according to healtsources) lazy and unattractive in any way, many of their husbands go to thailand for vacation, i dont blame them and imo thai women are far more independant the once back home.

I understand that some men like Thais above all other women, but do they have a choice?

I hate all people in southeast asia that has a better visa then me (tourist visa) and i am in far more better shape then most of them, this is so unfair!
