  1. "99% of thais engaged in a relationship with a foreigner prefer to live and stay in Thailand"

and 99% of everything you believe is 1% based on actual evidence that can be verified.

What bothers me the most is that people believe that their own personal experiences are representative of millions.

People in general prefer to live where they are most comfortable and able to get the most out of their life. Those that adventure to other countries all do it for different reasons.

Broad brush strokes look good from a distance but when you actually examine things that you believe it would be better to actually have something that remains true.

And off course this personal experience of you should apply to millions?

  2. 99% of thais engaged in a relationship with a foreigner prefer to live and stay in Thailand. They don't know really to much about their country let alone about others. Familystructures are very important and in a strange country loneliness can get the upper hand. More income can compensate it for most to endure it. If i was a thai girl i would want to be in a relationship with an offshore worker. Best of both worlds.

This i can confirm from my experience, for the last 2 years i have spent ca. 20 months in Thailand during that time i have met only one lady who xpressed a will to go to the west and i have spoken to many ladies since they are rather talkative and far from shy. Many of them though would like to mary a falang who could build them a nice home close to mom so they can socialice to the max. This seems to be fundamental to them.

  3. "Was it expencive for him?"

perhaps if you put the beer down while typing you might actually spell that correctly. I won't even answer that as it is the most stupid and ignorant post in this thread thus far.

Just fyi i dont drink, you try something in swedish and will tell you how you did. Thank you for letting me know that performed at the most so far, made me feel a little special. :)

  4. OP, please compare the cost of medical care and insurance in Western countries against medical costs and insurance in Thailand, then I think you'll understand why Western people come to live in Thailand.

Obviously some of those socialist European countries have free medical care, so I have no idea why they come to Thailand

Sweden has free (almost) medical care, its a remnant from the the time when socialists where socialists here. It is good if you do not die while waiting for your turn. A private doctor is a far more better option, there you find the really good doctors, if you can afford it.

Not long ago i went to see a private doctor here for an allergic reaction in one of my tattoos. I waited 5 min. for him to show in a nice AC office with a stunner nurse smiling at me all the time. He examined my arm and consulted with the nurce and my spouse for about 10 min. He gave me medecine and cream. For this he charged me 140 bath for the medecine nothing for the work.

The good thai doctor did though look and me and my digusting arm like i was a sick dog or something, perhaps he pity my sad being to an extend that it would be shameful of him to charge me idk.

  5. This is lots of legal stuff i dont understand but if you can make it this simple.

    good performans = bonus

    bad performans = no extra

no need to rub bad performans in, i think they know and if you reward bad you say bad is ok.

But then this is i suspect far more complicated.

  6. If they was born in sweden they would have a 33% income tax, open a small shop and run it prosperous is close to impossibly if you want to be legal about it and the tax you have to pay then on your profit are insane. Rent, food etc etc. are so expensive that you get robbed every time you go to the supermarket and you must because there is no thai market. But as a reward for this you get total goverment control of every aspect in your life and off course a good sallary that you keep very little of. There are wealthy people in sweden for whom this does not matter but they rarely go to Thailand and doubt they would like to live here, to unconvient for them.

  7. Looks like a solution is on the way to these insane drink druggings that seem to occur here on a regular basis. Would certainly be an amusing scene as you push the drink back to the bartender, saying you prefer another drink that does not have drugs in it.... :-)

    From CNN:

    http://edition.cnn.com/2013/08/14/us/date-rape-drug-detection/index.html

(CNN) -- "The pitch reads: "Would you know if an odorless, colorless and tasteless rape drug were put in your drink? What if your cup, straw or glass changed color to warn you?"

"When substances like GHB, ketamine and Rohypnol touch the surface of the drinkware, they will turn into the designated color used to detect the drug, alerting you to its presence."

No real man drinks from a straw.

  8. I used to meditate a lot for like 10 years ago but like i often do with new things i learn i overdid this and it got boring. I recomend you try a couple of times at home but then on the other hand you might be a person that has no urgent need for meditation. I find my calm and relaxed life here in Thailand rather meditaive. I think you could recomend your friends a visit to the retreat, it is usually good to try new things sometimes and who knows they might need it.

  9. Not having hoards of Thais gnawing through your precious food stocks and quaffing your finest vintage would be regarded as a result by many of our members. If you can identify how you have managed to prevent such misfortunes please share the secret. smile.png

    .

My girlfriend scares the free loaders away, she is not that heavy into sharing outside her family who is surprisingly small most of the time. She allso scares the ladies away who considered it being open season on me due to the fact that we are not married. She can do the the most unpleasant face i have ever seen without doing it.

  10. I dont think its unsafer outside bkk, just different and i think that if you are able to drive in bkk without accidents you can drive any where in the world. One word though about country roads here. They are can we say a little bit more dynamic, one pice of road that was exelent one day might not be in the same shape all over a couple of days later. Plenty of dogs too.
