  1. who cares.  the person on the bike was the only one who might get killed, so they needed to get out of the way.  if i'm walking and a train is about to crush me, i don't think, "hey, if i get hit i'll blame the train."

then the truck driver did a hit-and-run, so also to blame.

fine both 100 baht, then deport 10 farangs and fine them 10 million.  select farangs based on tattoos, brand of cigarette, and how many bars they visited before noon.  that narrows it down to 100 million.

All the way along the border from Pai, Chiang Dao, Chai Prakarn, Fang, Mae Ai its the Lahu who are the most numerous hilltribe. Since the very big drug gang operated by Lao Ta (Lisu-Chin Haw), east of Tha Ton was busted the Lahu have been picking up the trade. My wife was at a village meeting recently, discussion on drugs being the main topic, and she came back to say the army are putting a greater number of men into this border area after discovering a virtual highway of paths through the hills. Residents were being asked to report strangers in the villages. Meanwhile, brand new 1 million baht pick-ups are delivering villagers to collect their cash gifts from the govt at the ATM and no-one needs to explain where the money came from for these vehicle purchases.

OK, I will create a five-man task force.   Who's in?

Camouflage face painting tonight at the moooobaaaan, and then at o'dark thirty we head for the hills!!!

    bicycles are welcome.

  3. if you ask the question, or brag about your life.....odds are you life isn't special and I'm 100% sure I wouldn't want it.

But be lucky we have all this free time to ramble about such things.

maybe my life would have been better if i had to struggle more, or less, or this, or that, or this or that.  what metrics are you using?

happiness?  OMG, that's so 1960's.  Money?  OMG, not the right metric either.  oh, who judges.

bottom line:  get a plan for today, do it.  repeat.

  4. I can do that for you, sorry for an inconvenience.    I only charge 4,000 baht.   Please visit my webpage and add in your bank account details for safety reasons.  Also, just checking, what is your bank password???

Use maybe three email addresses and never, never give a good address or phone number.   many free, good email websites out there.  it's ok, you didn't lose money.

  6. SORTED:  Found and bought a Timex at Robinsons or wherever on the first floor of central plaza.

Read this suckers:  Price I paid was 100 baht CHEAPER than Amazon.

Warranty one year, but who knows what might happen.  But that is another topic.

60% off I guess means about what Amazon is charging in America.   I didn't care to check before I bought the watch, they had what I wanted and the price, in my head, seemed competitive.

I spend 45,000 on a watch before, had to show off for business.   Helped me for maybe 5 years, then sold it for pennies.

OK, my next watch......  I've tried most brands.  Maybe I'll try a Seiko next, but I want to go to Japan and buy a couple.

Mods;  Thread can be closed, my question was answered.

I live alone, his mother works and lives in Bangkok. She is aware of the problem but says what do you want me to do about it.

ok, we found one big problem.  try to help him deal with a broken home, and see who he blames, etc....talk to a professional, not us.   when you basically lose one parent, i can imagine you will do bad stuff, like theft, etc.....tell him you have to limit spending because someone is stealing your money, and start to cut down on things he likes. the other problem, growing up in Thailand and being a farang or growing up in thailand and having a farang dad.  these are real problems that we can't just laugh at.  you gotta talk with your son, he's old enough.  see what's really bothering him.  make time for him.   or ship him off to BKK.  of course i don't care, not my family or kid.  but the problems run deep

Timex, and other name brand watches, cost two to three times as much in Thailand as they do in the US.  Watches are among the things you should bring to Thailand.

lots of things cheaper in my home country, but i'm not bringing them all to Thailand.  right?  who cares, few thousand baht.  don't worry about what i do with my money, just try to be helpful with the question posed to people who like to be helpful.

  9. plane ticket to Thailand.  30,000 baht

    hotels:   10,000 baht

    food:  3,000 baht

100-hours complaining about 10 baht:  priceless

now call mommy and daddy and have them talk to mr. taxi driver.  i'm sure they can be super duper nicey nicey to you and maybe you can have some icey cream later.   don't worry we will buy you everything and protect you from life........we are in the helicopter.

    generation doomed.

  10. you can tell 99.99999999 percent of the time it's a guy.  people who say otherwise are kidding themselves, or trying to justify.  i just think that thing in your butt must really hurt.  and i'm guessing lbs have more diseases than women but i guess i don't know.  guys are more horny, usually, will bang anything, so maybe more diseases.  don't tell me it's not a guy. it's a guy.  guy, guy, guy. which is fine, most are super funny.

oh, you like being with ladyboys?  who am i to say what should or should not be done if it doesn't affect me at all?  it's Thailand, you know it happens.  oh, you like 10 ladyboys a week to train on your butt for 10 hours.  good for you, you go girl.   lol.   just remember, they are guys and can get physical and think about worse stuff.  like the stories in phuket where they beat up the guy and take all his stuff.

  11. sorry snowflake, same thing happened to me.  after i saw the big sign that said 30 baht, well, i apologized.   here is my 2 cents.  chiang mai, they don't care about you.  only your money.  i'm not sure what you are complaining about.  stood your right?  what?  over 10 baht?  call the police, and then everyone will think you should pay the 30 baht even if you go one km.  it says 30 baht.

i know, you travel and want everyone to treat you special.  i met a few people like that today, they immediately went into their own life and how great they were.  omg, i almost threw up.

    relax, this is nothing.

i think it would be much more polite......LOL.....now you are telling people how to be polite.

    classic.    but good post!!
