  1. I haven't ridden one, but think it's a great bike for Thailand.

It's a shame it (they) aren't in line with the US pricing.

If this set was 175-190 instead of 205k-220k or whatever, then they would be fantastic and something for Thailand to be proud of.

I think the U.S. pricing was announced first and it seemed great, this country is actually progressing, then the Thai price came out at being 10% more despite being built here and not having any import tax or costs attached. Then after a few weeks it was increased again. Just to remind us of where we are. biggrin.png

Though if the TT race bike is being upped to 650(?)cc it's hardly the CBR500 (which is really 471cc as sold). I'm too drunk to bother, but is that 30% more cc Dave?

  2. The inside trim is really cheap and nasty looking and there are a few rattles in the dash which i find annoying.

As far as the trim is concerned, i think it depends what you compare it with. Compare it with a more expensive Vios or City and it looks cheap, compare it with a similarly priced Brio and it looks very solid.

    Re: The trim.

The showroom top spec one was lovely.

Stopped in the lowest spec one on the way out, I've never seen such a difference in my life!

Seat material was the worst material I've ever felt in my life, polyester fur? The dash was the same as my old mate's 1991 Civic. Manual speedo and rev counter and that's it. Radio and air-con dash gone completely.

If we go for one it's not going to be the bottom spec! The higher spec one we were very impressed with.

  3. Nana Plaza/Soi 4 opposite is the best place to find these things.I would go for Pepper Spray over Mace as even if you close your eyes, your eyelids start to bubble with Pepper Spray, much more effective!

Do you know what they call pepper spray?

Pep-phuurrrr Splaaae, na khrap? Or is there a Thai term, if anyone knows?

omg.. just take your lazy self to sukhumvit road and open your eyes, sheesh how you managed to travel here is beyond me.

    I haven't 'traveled' here since 2004.

I have lived here since 2006 though. Downtown Sukhumvit is the last place I'd willingly spend my time, though. I'm sure I'm really missing out. ;)

  4. Nice job Stefan, though personally I'd get rid of the muffler cover.

I think the CBR250 looks fantastic streetfightered up.

I'm sure there's a few versions already on here, but there's a great Thai version done all in orange and black. I forget the company name but I'm sure it's easy to find on google images.

  5. I like getting drunk, and i invariably get into stupid discussions on buying ladydrinks in gogo,

and i think that is the situation for most of us

Then you deserve to get raped and murdered for being so foolish then. rolleyes.gif

You do have to wonder about some of these apologists eh.

For some reason I think of the John Major puppet on Spitting Image.

  6. don't get drunk, don't get into any stupid discussions in bars, don't stare at people, don't interfere with other peoples business, don't walk around the town at night for the last beer.

    be cool and enjoy yourself..

You haven't lived like a 20 year old on holiday in a long, long time, have you.

Of course all 20 year olds out enjoying themselves and the great wide World shouldn't drink, get drunk, stay up past 8pm.

  7. Well in that case why not convince your friend that it's not sensible or needed here!

Probably because I've lived in Thailand for half a decade, and doing so would be lying to them.

I suppose it could be a potential problem in say Pattaya, but in the more normal parts of the country the young lady would be unlikely to be in any danger, as long as statutory common sense is available.

Having lived all over Thailand (bar the very South) your post comes across as (dangerously) foolish. Wonder what Kirsty Jones' family would think of your comments. (you're probably not familiar with the Chiang Mai rape/murder case though so perhaps research it.)

If you (or others) want to start a 'Thailand isn't the least bit dangerous for young females, or others, outside of Pattaya' thread go for it.

Leave this one for what it is about.

    Good lad.
