  1. The question is not 'Do you hate Thailand?', it is 'Does Thailand hate you'?

    Deeeeeeep, man.

That is actually a very good question thumbsup.gif Because most Thais from the lowest on the social ladder to the socalled hi-so's have a build in contemt for anything not THAI.

But they're so smiley and nice. rolleyes.gif

I think the Thais-are-so-nice newbees are the funniest.

I had an old retiree tell me about the 250 rai rubber plantation he bought. All in his girlfriend's name. I was immediately told it is okay as Buddhists, it isn't in the Thai nature to steal.

I almost choked on my sandwich. :cheesy:

  2. I didn't realize they had homosexuals in their bronze age fantasies and tales.

    Thanks.

Well, now you know - except that both Christianity and Islam originated during the iron age, when both the Koran and the Bible were written, not the bronze age

Oh sorry, I thought all would have known that the iron-age texts were based on the fantasies and tales of the Bronze age, as I wrote.

  3. I'm afraid we'll have to agree to disagree.

The notion that a sold-out big bike is being kept away from small-bike dealerships because the company is 'afraid' of price gouging and aftersales service and not because of the massive costs involved of training thousands of mechanics to work on a bike they will likely never work on or see is, quite frankly, ludicrous.

But hey, if that's what the chip on the shoulder is telling posters, then sure, run with it. :D

  4. Almera, you sound a lot like a certain forum member who used to spam Honda and got banned.

    They ban people from here?

"If Thai's wanted locally made products you wouldn't see so many wealthy Thai's driving high end imported bikes and cars. Yes

they're patriotic on the surface, but they're not stupid and they recognize that European and Japanese imports are higher quality than

    locally made ones. "

The CBR500 range is a luxury item to most Thais.

The wealthy will have Ducati's and Beemers any where in the World.

"Thai's aren't rushing to buy these 500's because they want to wave the Thai flag, it's because they're cheap."

Hardly that cheap as they are more expensive than in the US and other markets. And possibly around 2 years salary of the average Thai.

And yes, the aftermarket service would be at best 'mixed' and out of Honda's control,

I remember reading that when the CBR250 was released every Dealership in the country had to have a mechanic specifically trained to work on the bike.

A fair expense for a bike that is going to be sold in huge numbers.

I read somewhere that the CBR500 is limited to something like 600 bikes for the first year, if that is the case and they that most or all are likely to be sold before they get to sit on the showroom floor, why would they go to that expense. Business wise, it makes much more sense to just have to train the staff at the BW stores.

I'm not sure why you find it so hard to accept Honda's logical reasons for managing this properly through

BigWing? It's not Honda bashing, I think it's a good idea and long overdue.

the idea that they're not training thousands of staff to work on a bike that most will never have to work on, because they're afraid of dealership mark-ups and the such are crackpot at best.

  5. So just trying to understand, you have young kids hanging out on your land, so rather than saying get off my land, you want to find out how to construct a stink bomb and throw it at them? Is that the gist? Surely leaving a dead fish nearby would suffice.

No. Nothing close to the gist. :)

Never mind, get back to the beer.

  6. I don't get it. They are not Thai. They can't vote. What do they get out of the constant stream on insults even on threads that have nothing to do with the current government.

My impression is that there are some people being paid to do this, probably by both sides.

Not just in TV of course. . .

    Correct. Not just on TV....

In the polling booths too.

  7. Wanting to fully integrate into Thai culture I'm interested in buying some stink bomb capsules or whatever.

To answer the question before it is demanded of me, there are a few people that I want to move along from their new little hangout, and of course not wanting to bring up the subject with them lest they get hurt wittle feelings and then explode in venomous anger, I'd rather this approach of them being unknowingly coerced into leaving of their own accord.

Has anyone seen any stink bomb capsules or whatever in any joke shops (or other shops here)?

Or know any cool recipes? (the smaller and easier the better).

    Thanks. smile.png

  8. There are wealthy Thais that are contemptable because they THINK they are better than everyone else. I only go by how I see humans treat other people. I don't care what race or colour they are. I don't care how much money they have or how much "school" education they have. The only thing that counts is how they treat others around them. That includes servents, employees or contemporaries.

Yes, the non-rich Thais don't look down on or belittle others at all. No way Jose. :cheesy:

Pick up your luggage from Swampy yet? :D

  9. I'm going to Bang Saphan for a few days soon, and will have my bike with me.

I'm thinking of a day or half day snorkeling, maybe to an Island?

A bike ride up around the Burmese border.

And anything else that would be nice to do around there?

I'm looking for a quiet beach spot with a place to chill out, perhaps 500-800b p/n range.

Any recommendations on some accommodation like that and things to do?

    Thanks,.

  10. I can't stand people who think they are superior because they have a greater education from some school that may or may not teach a broad perspective.

Silly twits who think they are better because they have more money are contemptable.

It is how we treat others around us that is important.

From someone who loves all Thai people. cheesy.gif

Pick up yer luggage from the Swampy carousel yet?

"If people can not like the Thais then I doubt if they could like anyone."

"Silly twits who think they are better because they have more money are contemptable."

    :cheesy:

  11. Only available at Big Wing. Honda clearly doesn't trust it's smaller dealers to service the bikes properly or sell them at the RRP.

    huh.png

    Such an inside scoop.

I thought it was because product numbers for Thailand was limited and they wanted to use the Made in Thailand range as the poster-boys of their national Big Wing marketing.

    Are you saying I'm wrong?

    Yes, you're wrong.

Why would they use the bottom of the range bikes as the poster boy?

Err, because they are made in Thailand, are (more) affordable, and are completely new to the entire World.... whistling.gif

So you would consider a local made product (the only local one that you're selling), which thus doesn't incur the massive import duties that your other products do, thus is way more affordable, in a nation where patriotism is indoctrinated at birth, and also happens to be the launch of a much anticipated global product that is not available anywhere else in the World, as not being the poster-boy for your business in that locale? huh.png

You're not a TEFLer are you?

Despite them not having enough numbers to satisfy the Big Wing demand, of course they're not selling them at local dealers, thus having to train an extra few thousand employes despite there not being the numbers for them to sell any, because they're affraid of dealer profit and 'shoddy after sales service'... whistling.gif

It sounds like you have quite an axe to grind.

that would be like Man Utd having Darren Fletcher on the bill board posters instead of Robin Van Persie.

Absolutely.... if the billboards are in Darren Fletcher's home town... whistling.gif

    Never mind lad. giggle.gif

  12. Hmmmmm, sorry, but I disagree with you. Many farangs that live in LOS can not afford more than a room.

Absolutely. A sad state of affairs. Perhaps they end up making up the majority of the I Hate Thailand fanclub.

BTW, unless one does it very badly, sex is just as enjoyable the 1,000th time as the first smile.png

I'm sure it's better after 20 years of involuntary celibacy.

Which is also probably the case for many Westerners coming to live here alone in single rooms.

No dig at you in there mate.

  13. I would never have wanted to eat alone in my room,

I don't think anyone, anywhere wants to eat 'alone in their room' every night.

Perhaps most people who hate Thailand live in a 'room'. Certainly not a dig at you TBL, but I think Thailand takes some money to enjoy. Living in any country away from home, alone in a room, probably isn't going to breed happiness, unless one is getting sex for the first time ever.

I think that having a nice place to live is very important to one's life. If living alone in a Condo then at least a nicely decked out 60sqm one bedroom with nice kitchen and living room, with gym and pool is important. Remember, you're not only renting the condo, you're also renting the quality of your neighbours.
